The best nightclubs in Bali, by area — and how to book a table at each

Bali does not have one nightlife scene. It has four, an hour of traffic apart, and they do not feel alike. Seminyak's late clubs, Uluwatu's cliff-top nights, Canggu's beach clubs that run from sunset into the small hours — here is the map, and what booking actually means at each.

Ask ten people for the best club in Bali and you get ten answers, because they went out in ten different places. The island's nightlife is not one scene; it is a handful of them, each with its own rhythm, and the traffic between them is real. Pick the area first. The club follows.

Seminyak — the late night, in town

Seminyak is where Bali's nightlife grew up, and it still runs latest. The clubs here are clubs in the plain sense: a room, a sound system, a dancefloor, doors that open late and stay open. It is the area for a night that starts after dinner and ends when it ends, with everything walkable or a short ride apart.

Tables here are booths and lounges by the floor, and on a weekend they go. Guestlists exist and work — early.

Uluwatu — the night on the cliff

Uluwatu's clubs sit on the limestone above the ocean, and that is the point of them. The big nights here are event nights: an international name, a sunset that turns into a party, a crowd that came from across the island for it. On those nights the cliff is the only place anyone wants to be, and the table is the only thing that is certain.

El Kabron

El Kabron

Beach clubs · Uluwatu

El Kabron stands on the limestone cliffs of Pecatu in Uluwatu, above the Indian Ocean, and has been open since 2011. It has three parts: the Hedonism Lounge, an adults-only infinity-pool area with daybeds and sofas; the Sunset Theater at the cliff edge, set up for sunset dinners; and a Mediterranean restaurant serving seafood, oysters, paella and steak. Its sunset parties bring DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet, with the White Sunset Party, the Afro House Sunset Party and pool parties among the weekly regulars.

White Rock Beach Club

White Rock Beach Club

Beach clubs · Uluwatu

White Rock Beach Club sits on Melasti Beach in Ungasan, near Uluwatu, at the end of the cliff. Guests settle on daybeds, sofas or cabanas around a lagoon pool and a rock pool; families have a kids' pool and a kids' menu. There is a spa, a large covered restaurant serving local and international dishes, and enclosed, air-conditioned party suites overlooking the pool and the ocean. Resident DJs play every day, and foam parties run at weekends. The club also hosts weddings and events.

Book ahead for a headline night — days ahead in high season. It is a drive from everywhere else; plan the car home before you plan the drinks.

Canggu — sunset that becomes the night

Canggu does not really have nightclubs. It has beach clubs, and the best of them do not stop at sunset. You arrive for the light, take a daybed or a table, and the same venue carries you into the small hours with a DJ and a crowd that never went home. It is the easiest night on the island to fall into.

Atlas Beach Club

Atlas Beach Club

Beach clubs · Berawa

Atlas Beach Club sits on Berawa Beach and bills itself as the biggest beach club in the world. Its signature beanbags sit right on the sand facing the sea, beside a vast pool and a pool bar where DJs play through the day. Daybeds and sofas are spread across distinct zones, from The Deck restaurant overlooking the beach to the Party Side in front of the stage. Daily shows draw on the four elements, and a beachfront padel court and a 100-metre flying fox complete the site.

Finns Beach Club

Finns Beach Club

Beach clubs · Berawa

FINNS Beach Club stretches along the beachfront at Berawa, in Canggu, under a bamboo structure designed by PBM Architecture. It is adults-only and divided into several party zones, from FINNS Beach Party and FINNS Garden Party to FINNS Grey Goose Party and FINNS VIP Party, with pools, swim-up bars, private cabanas, dance floors and restaurants spread across the site. Resident DJs and live singers keep an all-day party going every day, and the club also hosts private events, birthdays and corporate groups.

Regent Bali Canggu

Regent Bali Canggu

Restaurants · Canggu

Regent Bali Canggu is IHG's beachfront resort on Batu Bolong, on Canggu's southwest coast, and the first Regent in Indonesia. Designed by WATG with interiors by HBA, it has 150 rooms and suites. Two of its restaurants are led by Chef Andrew Walsh: Sazón, a Mediterranean neighbourhood hideaway, and CURE Bali, European cooking shaped by Asian flavours. The Beach House pairs its pool and ocean breeze with craft cocktails and seafood, and the resort is home to the first Regent Spa & Wellness.

The sunset-facing daybeds are the scarce thing; they are booked, not walked into. After dark the same venues run on tables and guestlists like anywhere else.

Elsewhere — one good night each

Kuta, Nusa Dua and Tabanan each have a beach club worth a night, and none of them is on the way to the others.

Zumana

Luna Beach Club

Luna Beach Club

Beach clubs · Tabanan

The complex brings together two pools, jumping platforms and a water slide, Restaurant 369, the Utopia Cave Club and the Gardenia bamboo tree pods. DJs play through sunset, and evenings bring fire and light shows.

Seminyak or Canggu?

Seminyak if you want a club: late, loud, in a room. Canggu if you want the beach: sunset first, the party after, outdoors. They are close enough to do one and then the other with a driver waiting — many good nights are exactly that.

How booking works at all of them

A table reserves the space — a booth, a daybed, a cabana — and carries a minimum spend that belongs to the table, not the person. The venue sets it, and it moves with the night and the season, which is why no honest source quotes you a number without asking the venue for that date. Busy nights usually ask for a deposit; it is deducted from what you spend.

A guestlist is your name at the door, free, before a cutoff time, standing room only. Fine on an ordinary night; not a guarantee on a headline one.

FirstBali books tables and puts guests on guestlists at every venue above. Tell the concierge the area, the date and the size of your group; the venue confirms the real amount, you decide, and the car home is arranged with the same message.

Getting home

The last thing a good night needs is standing on a road at 3am. A driver waiting is the cheapest luxury on the island; ask for one when you book the table, not when you leave.

Questions we get asked

+What is the best nightclub in Bali?

It depends on the night you want. Uluwatu's cliff-top clubs for a headline event night, Seminyak's clubs for a late night in town, Canggu's beach clubs for sunset that carries into the small hours. FirstBali books tables and guestlists at all of them.

+Where is the nightlife in Bali?

Mainly Seminyak, Canggu and Uluwatu, and they are not alike: Seminyak is the late club scene in town, Canggu is beach clubs from sunset onward, Uluwatu is clubs on the cliff. Kuta, Nusa Dua and Tabanan each add one beach club worth a night.

+How do I book a table at a club in Bali?

Tell the FirstBali concierge the area, the date and your group size. The venue confirms the minimum spend for that table on that night and whether a deposit is needed; the deposit is deducted from what you spend. No figure is quoted until the venue confirms it.

+Is Seminyak or Canggu better for nightlife?

Seminyak for a proper club — late, loud, indoors. Canggu for the beach — sunset first, the party after, outdoors. They are close enough to do one then the other with a driver waiting.

+Do I need to book clubs in Bali in advance?

For a table, yes on weekends and in high season — days ahead for a headline night in Uluwatu. Guestlists can often be arranged the same day, but they close at a cutoff time and fill on busy nights, so ask early.
