The seafood restaurants in Bali worth booking are Sardine in Seminyak, which cooks the daily catch over the rice fields; Giselle and Ina Ré in Canggu, Mediterranean and Latin; Miss Fish in Berawa, a Japanese omakase; and Le Bleu on Nusa Dua beach. Every dish named below is on the restaurant's own menu.
Sardine — the daily catch in Seminyak
Sardine, the K-Club Group's seafood restaurant on Jalan Petitenget, builds its menu on the sea. It sits in an open-air bamboo building over a stretch of rice paddies and cooks the daily catch from the Indian Ocean — the restaurant names yellowfin tuna, scallops and snapper — in a modern Mediterranean style, with vegetables from its own farms.
On the current dinner menu:
- To start: Lombok oysters, seared yellowfin tataki, a trio of tartare, a passion fruit Peruvian ceviche, island-style coconut vongole, and a Papuan crab and avocado tower.
- From the grill: baby squid, jumbo prawns, octopus, yellowfin tuna steak, scallops and Indian Ocean slipper lobster.
- Mains: a Jimbaran-style whole grilled fish, a Provençal fisherman's bouillabaisse, mussels marinière and the seaside catch of the day.
- For the table: a mixed grilled seafood platter, the fisherman's whole fish of the day, and a lobster linguine for two.
There is a vegetarian set menu too. Late in the evening, Les Toilettes, the club on site, takes over. Read our Sardine guide.
On the cliffs and on the beach
El Kabron, on the Pecatu cliffs, has a Mediterranean oceanfront restaurant serving fresh seafood, oysters on ice and paella, with steak for anyone who wants it. Children are welcome in the restaurant area, unlike the rest of the venue.
Rock Bar, at AYANA Bali in Jimbaran, is a bar first, and its Mediterranean tapas are built on the seafood of Jimbaran Bay — a lighter way to eat fish with the sunset.
Le Bleu by K Club, on Nusa Dua Beach, calls seafood its star: lobster linguine and yellowfin tuna tataki are typical, with vegetarian and vegan options. Lunch on a sunbed or dinner by the water, in a calm setting.
El Kabron
Beach clubs · Uluwatu
El Kabron stands on the limestone cliffs of Pecatu in Uluwatu, above the Indian Ocean, and has been open since 2011. It has three parts: the Hedonism Lounge, an adults-only infinity-pool area with daybeds and sofas; the Sunset Theater at the cliff edge, set up for sunset dinners; and a Mediterranean restaurant serving seafood, oysters, paella and steak. Its sunset parties bring DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet, with the White Sunset Party, the Afro House Sunset Party and pool parties among the weekly regulars.
Rock Bar
Bars · Jimbaran
Rock Bar is AYANA Bali's cliffside bar in Jimbaran, stretching some 270 metres along the rocks above the ocean, with 880 seats spread over 22 areas. Guests reach it by inclinator, watch the sun set over the sea, then stay as the DJs play on. The bar pours cocktails inspired by the colours of the sea alongside Mediterranean tapas built on Jimbaran Bay seafood. Non-resident visitors can reserve; the Round Deck is kept for villa guests and the Top Bar for hotel guests. Payment by card or QR only.
Le Bleu
Beach clubs · Nusa Dua
Le Bleu by K Club is a beachfront restaurant and beach club on Nusa Dua Beach, in the ITDC resort area, run by the K-Club Group. The look is French Riviera by way of Bali, all blue and white, with sunbeds, cabanas, terraces and an indoor dining room. The kitchen leans on seafood, from lobster linguine to yellowfin tuna tataki, with vegetarian and vegan options. The weekly programme mixes yoga, cocktail workshops, beach games and festive Sunday gatherings with a DJ.
Canggu — Mediterranean and Latin
Giselle, on Jalan Tanah Barak, is a Mediterranean house where seafood leads the menu. Expect crudos such as Hokkaido scallop with salsa verde and jalapeños, a seafood platter of oysters, prawns, scallop crudo, salmon gravlax and tuna carpaccio, and a charcoal-grilled red seabream with fennel salad and sauce vierge, alongside homemade pasta. On Friday and Saturday nights Club 55 takes over after dinner.
Ina Ré, the restaurant of Desa Kitsuné, blends Mediterranean cooking with South American street food: paellas to share and fresh ceviches, next to wood-fired grilled meats. Sunday brunch has its own menu.
Giselle
Restaurants · Canggu
Giselle is a Mediterranean restaurant on Jalan Tanah Barak in Canggu, created by a group of friends with deep roots in hospitality, who call it “a house for friends, strangers, and stories”. The mood is the Riviera brought to Bali, across a dining room and a courtyard. Seafood leads the menu, with crudos, a seafood platter, sea bream sashimi and flambéed fish, alongside homemade pasta and plates for sharing, built on local, responsibly sourced ingredients. On Friday and Saturday nights, Club 55 takes over after dinner.
Ina Ré
Restaurants · Canggu
Ina Ré is the restaurant of Desa Kitsuné, the lifestyle village on Jalan Munduk Catu in Canggu. Chilean executive chef Cristian Encina brings together Mediterranean flavours and Latin American street food: paellas to share, ceviches, tacos, empanadas and wood-fired meats such as the Stockyard tomahawk. The space draws on Balinese arts and crafts, with handmade materials, weavings and traditional motifs, and includes private dining rooms for groups. Sunday brunch has its own menu, and so do Courtyard Saturdays.
Japanese — Miss Fish in Berawa
Miss Fish, on Jalan Raya Semat, is a Japanese restaurant with a seasonal omakase served at a glowing onyx chef's bar. The omakase typically includes premium sashimi and seasonal nigiri, with toro and other fish depending on the season. From the signature menu: a Peruvian ceviche, a scallop carpaccio with truffle and ponzu foam, and a tom yum shiromi of white fish. The bar pours a long list of sakes and Japanese whiskies, DJs take over later in the evening, and the dress code is smart casual. See our Miss Fish guide.
Which one for which evening
- A celebration or a big table: Sardine, for the sharing platters and the rice fields.
- A sunset: El Kabron on the cliffs; Rock Bar for drinks and tapas.
- A long lunch with the family: Le Bleu, which has a kids' menu and a children's corner at the weekend.
- A counter and a chef: Miss Fish's omakase.
- Dinner that becomes a night out: Giselle on Friday and Saturday, when Club 55 follows dinner, or Sardine, with Les Toilettes on site.
Booking
The daily catch changes with the sea, so ask about the whole fish when you book rather than counting on a specific one. Tell the concierge the date, the number of guests and any allergies — shellfish allergies are worth saying in the first message. We ask the restaurant on your behalf; the table is yours once the venue confirms it, and prices come from the restaurant.
