Luna Beach Club is perched on the cliffs of the Tabanan coast, inside Nuanu Creative City by Nyanyi Beach, west of Canggu. It is less a single beach club than a small resort of things to do: two pools, jumping platforms, a water slide that drops into a cave club, a restaurant, a beer garden and bamboo pods hung above the stage. DJs play through sunset, and evenings bring fire and light shows. The bamboo architecture, by Inspiral Architects, won a Silver award for sustainable and green architecture at the 2024 International Architecture & Design Awards.

What is inside

  • The beach club and main pool. Daybeds, sofas and cabanas around the main pool facing the sea, with the jumping platforms and the main stage where the shows happen.
  • Utopia Cave Club. A cave with an infinity pool and a swim-up bar, reached by the water slide from the beach club. Luna calls it an all-day pool party, with DJs every day. Flip-flops are left at the entrance; the cave is enjoyed barefoot.
  • Restaurant 369. A bamboo dining room with an open kitchen and views over the beach club: breakfast by the pool in the morning, cocktails and light plates by day, and after dark it turns into what Luna calls an elevated supper club. No wet swimwear inside, and it is smoke-free.
  • Gardenia Tree Pods. Bamboo pods built above the club, looking over the main stage and the ocean, each with a waiter of its own. You can book one pod or the whole canopy. They are non-smoking.
  • The Luna Beer Garden, for something less formal.

The shows. The fire show and the light show run every evening on the main stage. From Friday to Sunday a saxophonist and a live singer join in. Luna also runs ticketed theme nights in the cave and on the main stage; ask the concierge what is on for your date.

What to book

Luna's booking terms list daybeds, sofas, booths, high tables, pods, tree houses and cabanas. In practice:

  • A daybed or a sofa by the main pool for a day of sun, swimming and the sunset.
  • A booth, deck sofa or high table in the cave if the group came for the party side.
  • A tree pod, or the whole canopy, for privacy, a view of the shows and service at your seat — a strong choice for a birthday.
  • A cabana for a bigger group that wants space.
  • A table at the restaurant for dinner before or after the shows.

Every seat comes with a food and drink credit that Luna sets for the day; FirstBali asks for the amount for your date and passes on what Luna confirms. Booking ahead is worth it even on a quiet day: the seat types people want go first.

Two details that catch people out: early-bird bookings come with an arrival window, and any booking is held only for a limited time after the arrival time agreed. The exact spot is assigned on the day, though Luna makes every reasonable effort to honour the type booked for pods, tree houses and cabanas. FirstBali asks Luna for the seat and the amount for your date and passes on what it confirms.

Children and age rules

Luna works for a family by day. Under its terms, children are welcome at the main pool, the beach club, the restaurant and the beer garden until the evening. The Utopia Cave Club becomes adults-only (eighteen and over) from the early afternoon, and the water slide closes to under-eighteens at the same moment. Some areas are non-smoking, and pets are not allowed anywhere on the property; an assistance animal must be arranged with Luna in writing beforehand.

Dress

Luna publishes no formal dress code. Swimwear is the uniform by the pools; wet swimwear is not allowed in the restaurant, and shoes come off at the door of the cave. For an evening table at the restaurant, dress up a little — it becomes a supper club.

When to go

  • By day for the pools, the slide and the children.
  • From the afternoon to sunset for the DJs and the light.
  • Into the evening for the fire and light shows, the cave and dinner. Weekends add live music and are the busiest days, so book further ahead.

Getting there and back

Luna is west of Canggu, on the Tabanan coast inside Nuanu Creative City, by Nyanyi Beach. From Canggu it is a short drive further west; from Seminyak it is longer, and from the south of the island (Uluwatu, Nusa Dua, Jimbaran) it is a real trip, best planned as a whole day. Country roads are poorly lit at night: a scooter after an evening of drinks is a bad idea. Have a car wait, or book the return before you leave — see our cars.

How FirstBali books it

Tell the concierge the date, how many you are, whether children are coming and which area you want — pool, cave, pod or restaurant. Luna answers on availability and the amount for that seat; you decide. The seat is yours once Luna confirms it.
