White Rock Beach Club sits on Melasti Beach in Ungasan, at the end of the cliff on the Uluwatu peninsula. Where most of Uluwatu's venues look down at the ocean from the limestone, White Rock is beside it: you spend the day on a daybed, a sofa or a cabana around a lagoon pool and a rock pool, eat in a large covered restaurant, and stay while the resident DJs play. It bills itself as the best beachfront club in Bali, and it welcomes children.
What is there
- Two pools for the day. A lagoon pool and a rock pool, with the beds and sofas set around them. Under White Rock's own rules the main pool is for adults; there is a separate kids' pool for small children.
- A covered restaurant. Large, out of the sun, serving local and international dishes, with a kids' menu. It is a dining room, not a pool deck: swimwear, towels and wet clothes stay outside, and there are changing rooms and lockers to use first.
- A spa, with its own daybeds for a slower day.
- Party suites. Enclosed and air-conditioned, overlooking the pool and the ocean — a private room with the view, for a birthday or a group that wants its own space.
- Music every day. Resident DJs play daily, and the weekends bring foam parties.
The club also hosts weddings and private events; tell the concierge if that is the plan.
What to book
White Rock sells its seats by type, and the choice follows the size and mood of the group:
- Lagoon beds and sofas, by the lagoon pool.
- Double beds, single beds and single sofas, for a couple or a small group who mostly want sun and a swim.
- Party beds and the VIP cabana, for a bigger group that came to stay into the evening.
- Party suites, the private option, enclosed and cooled.
- Spa daybeds, on the quiet side.
Every seat carries a minimum spend that White Rock sets, and it works as credit towards food and drink on the day. A per-guest amenity package — welcome drink, towels and use of the facilities — counts towards it. FirstBali asks the venue for your date and passes on the amount it confirms; nothing is quoted before that.
When to book
White Rock itself recommends booking a couple of days ahead for the best spot and the best view. Book earlier for a weekend (foam parties), for high season and for New Year's Eve. If you are flexible on the day, say so — the venue answers on availability and you choose.
House rules worth knowing
White Rock publishes its terms, and a few of them change how you plan the day:
- Date changes are limited. One change of date is possible under conditions, but not for a booking made the day before or on the day itself, and not on big ticketed nights.
- Bring the confirmation and an ID. Reception asks for the booking confirmation and a valid photo ID in the booking name. Without them, the seat can be refused.
- No outside food or drink. Bags are checked on the way in.
- Twenty-one to drink. White Rock serves alcohol from twenty-one, and staff may ask for photo ID at any time.
- Children always supervised. They are welcome, with a parent or guardian at all times, and never in the pool area without an adult.
- Things to leave behind. No pets, no helium balloons; tripods, selfie sticks, drones and professional cameras are not allowed. Decorations for a celebration need management's approval beforehand — the concierge can ask for you.
Getting there and back
Melasti is in Ungasan, on the Bukit, the limestone peninsula at the bottom of the island. From Jimbaran, Nusa Dua or anywhere in Uluwatu it is a reasonable drive; from Seminyak or Canggu it is a long one, and the traffic decides the rest. White Rock has a large car park inside. Plan it as a day rather than a stop, and have the car wait: cars on demand are thin on the peninsula, and the drive back after dark is the part people forget.
How FirstBali books it
Tell the concierge the date, how many you are, whether children are coming and which kind of seat you want. White Rock answers on availability and the minimum for that day; you decide. The seat is yours once White Rock confirms it. A driver for the day can go in the same conversation — see our cars.
