Bali beach club music: DJs, live acts and sunset sets

What you actually hear at a Bali beach club: resident DJs through the day, live singers and instruments, sunset sets and evening shows. Venue by venue, from what each one states.

Most Bali beach clubs build the day on DJs: resident DJs play from the afternoon through sunset, and some add live singers or instruments on top. A few change register at sunset, with a dedicated set or a show, and the clubs of the Savaya Group bring headliners on set nights. The style of a given day is on its page, not fixed by the venue's name.

Three ways a beach club sounds

  1. Resident DJs all day. The club's own DJs set the mood from the first drink to the last light. This is the default at most beach clubs.
  2. DJs with live performers. A singer or musicians play over the DJ's set, which changes the energy without changing the format.
  3. A sunset moment. The music is built around the last light, with a set or a show that marks the turn from day to evening.

Zumana, Kuta: from the beach into the evening

Zumana is a beach club at Sunset Bay, designed around beachfront daybeds, poolside spaces, bars and an open-air dance floor. Its week has a shape: Zumana Sunday, Monday and Tuesday every week, headliners on Wednesdays and Fridays, and Ritual of the Sun on Saturdays. Savaya, Uluwatu: the sunset set

Savaya is a clifftop club rather than a beach club, but it answers the same afternoon. Every Monday, Last Light is a sunset set played from The Cube; at weekends the club brings international headliners. DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs placed Savaya fifth in the world, as Savaya reports. Desa Kitsuné, Canggu: the garden, not the beach

Desa Kitsuné's parties happen in its Garden, on Tuesdays and Fridays, rain or shine: guest DJs on Tuesdays, Bali-based DJs on Fridays. It is the choice when you want the format of a day party without the beach.

El Kabron, Uluwatu: DJs with live instruments

El Kabron's sunset parties bring DJs together with live saxophone, violin and trumpet. Among its weekly regulars are the White Sunset Party, the Afro House Sunset Party and pool parties, so the name of the day tells you the sound. For that style, see afro house in Bali.

Finns, Berawa: DJs and live singers

At Finns, resident DJs and live singers keep an all-day party going every day, spread across several party zones, each with its own space. It is the clearest example of the second format above.

Atlas, Berawa: the pool bar and the shows

At Atlas, DJs play through the day at the pool bar, and daily shows draw on the four elements. The stage sits in front of the Party Side, one of its distinct zones.

Luna, Tabanan: through sunset, then a show

At Luna Beach Club, on the cliffs of the Tabanan coast inside Nuanu Creative City, DJs play through sunset and the evenings bring fire and light shows. It also holds the Utopia Cave Club within the complex.

White Rock and Le Bleu: the calmer end

White Rock, on Melasti Beach, has resident DJs every day and foam parties at weekends. Le Bleu, in Nusa Dua, keeps its DJ for festive Sunday gatherings, alongside a weekly programme of yoga, cocktail workshops and beach games.

El Kabron stands on the limestone cliffs of Pecatu in Uluwatu, above the Indian Ocean, and has been open since 2011. It has three parts: the Hedonism Lounge, an adults-only infinity-pool area with daybeds and sofas; the Sunset Theater at the cliff edge, set up for sunset dinners; and a Mediterranean restaurant serving seafood, oysters, paella and steak. Its sunset parties bring DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet, with the White Sunset Party, the Afro House Sunset Party and pool parties among the weekly regulars.

FINNS Beach Club stretches along the beachfront at Berawa, in Canggu, under a bamboo structure designed by PBM Architecture. It is adults-only and divided into several party zones, from FINNS Beach Party and FINNS Garden Party to FINNS Grey Goose Party and FINNS VIP Party, with pools, swim-up bars, private cabanas, dance floors and restaurants spread across the site. Resident DJs and live singers keep an all-day party going every day, and the club also hosts private events, birthdays and corporate groups.

Atlas Beach Club sits on Berawa Beach and bills itself as the biggest beach club in the world. Its signature beanbags sit right on the sand facing the sea, beside a vast pool and a pool bar where DJs play through the day. Daybeds and sofas are spread across distinct zones, from The Deck restaurant overlooking the beach to the Party Side in front of the stage. Daily shows draw on the four elements, and a beachfront padel court and a 100-metre flying fox complete the site.

Luna Beach Club is perched on the cliffs of the Tabanan coast, inside Nuanu Creative City by Nyanyi Beach, west of Canggu. Its bamboo architecture by Inspiral Architects won a Silver award for sustainable and green architecture at the 2024 International Architecture & Design Awards. The complex brings together two pools, jumping platforms and a water slide, Restaurant 369, the Utopia Cave Club and the Gardenia bamboo tree pods. DJs play through sunset, and evenings bring fire and light shows.

White Rock Beach Club sits on Melasti Beach in Ungasan, near Uluwatu, at the end of the cliff. Guests settle on daybeds, sofas or cabanas around a lagoon pool and a rock pool; families have a kids' pool and a kids' menu. There is a spa, a large covered restaurant serving local and international dishes, and enclosed, air-conditioned party suites overlooking the pool and the ocean. Resident DJs play every day, and foam parties run at weekends. The club also hosts weddings and events.

Le Bleu by K Club is a beachfront restaurant and beach club on Nusa Dua Beach, in the ITDC resort area, run by the K-Club Group. The look is French Riviera by way of Bali, all blue and white, with sunbeds, cabanas, terraces and an indoor dining room. The kitchen leans on seafood, from lobster linguine to yellowfin tuna tataki, with vegetarian and vegan options. The weekly programme mixes yoga, cocktail workshops, beach games and festive Sunday gatherings with a DJ.

How to pick by sound

  • You want a named night with a line-up: Zumana's headliner days or Savaya's weekends, on the events calendar.
  • You want the sunset to be the moment: Savaya's Last Light, El Kabron's sunset parties or Luna.
  • You want live music on top of the DJ: El Kabron or Finns.
  • You want music in the background of a long lunch: Le Bleu or White Rock.

Seats and the door

At Savaya and Zumana a table is the only reserved space, with a minimum spend set by the venue per day that includes food and drink credit. The three Savaya Group venues are 21+ with photo ID, and state that mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred. A day with a line-up can be ticketed only; its page says so.
