Lounge bars in Bali: sofas, views and a slower night

Lounge bars in Bali for a seated evening: an ocean-view lounge in Nusa Dua, a cliff lounge in Pecatu, Rock Bar, a speakeasy, and the lounge seating of Savaya, Zumana and Desa Kitsuné.

For a lounge evening in Bali, think sofas, a view and music you can talk over: L'Atelier at The Apurva Kempinski in Nusa Dua looks over the ocean, El Kabron's Hedonism Lounge sits on the Pecatu cliffs, and Rock Bar in Jimbaran puts you on the rocks above the sea. If the night grows, the lounge of a club is its tables, at Savaya, Zumana and Desa Kitsuné, the only reserved seating there.

What counts as a lounge here

In Bali the word covers three kinds of place:

  • Hotel and resort lounges, with a view and a quieter room.
  • Clifftop lounges at sunset venues, with daybeds and sofas rather than bar stools.
  • The seated areas of clubs, where a table gives you a sofa beside the dance floor.

This guide is about where you sit. For the drinks themselves, see cocktail bars.

Ocean views in Nusa Dua: L'Atelier

The Apurva Kempinski Bali is a five-star resort on the cliffs of Nusa Dua, facing the Indian Ocean. Among its venues, L'Atelier by Cyril Kongo is a lounge with ocean views and Mediterranean tapas. The resort also holds Koral, which the hotel presents as Bali's first aquarium restaurant, so dinner and a lounge drink can stay under one roof.

Cliff lounges at sunset

  • El Kabron, on the limestone cliffs of Pecatu, has the Hedonism Lounge, an adults-only infinity-pool area with daybeds and sofas, and a Sunset Theater at the cliff edge. Its sunset parties bring DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet.
  • Rock Bar, AYANA's cliffside bar in Jimbaran, reached by inclinator, where you watch the sun set over the sea and stay as the DJs play on. Non-resident visitors can reserve; some areas are kept for hotel and villa guests, and payment is by card or QR only.

Indoors and low-lit

  • The Shady Pig in Berawa is a speakeasy behind an unmarked door that needs a password, with small plates alongside experimental cocktails and DJs later in the night.
  • Jade by Todd English in Berawa has a cocktail bar with an Asian touch, warm lighting, and a mood that shifts as the night goes on, with a daily DJ.

When the lounge is inside the club

Some evenings start seated and end dancing. At the three partner clubs, a table is your lounge: a reserved place to sit with your group, and the only reserved space the venues offer.

  • Savaya, on the Pecatu clifftop, ranked number one in Asia in DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs. Mondays are Last Light, a sunset set from The Cube, which suits a seated start; weekends bring headliners.
  • Zumana, at Sunset Bay in Kuta, with beachfront daybeds and poolside spaces as well as tables. Ritual of the Sun runs on Saturdays.
  • Desa Kitsuné in Canggu, a garden with Ina Ré, Café Kitsuné and the Maison Kitsuné boutique, and parties on Tuesday and Friday, rain or shine.

How it works: the minimum spend is set by the venue for each night (the Savaya and Zumana maps state that it includes food and beverage credit). FirstBali books the table with the venue, and it is yours once the venue confirms it; any deposit follows the venue's terms and is not a confirmation. At Savaya and Zumana, re-entry is with a table only. All three are 21+ with photo ID. More in VIP table areas and bottle service.

In Seminyak, MUIN also has VIP sofas looking straight onto the main floor.

Planning a lounge evening

  • Pick the view first. Ocean from a resort, sunset from a cliff, or none at all in a speakeasy.
  • Decide whether the night goes on. If it might, pair the lounge with a club table, and book the table first.
  • Keep the drive in mind. Nusa Dua, Pecatu and Canggu are different parts of the island; a car with a driver who waits, arranged through transport, lets you move between them.

How FirstBali helps

Tell the concierge the kind of evening you want, seated or not, and where you are staying. An assistant answers at any hour and the team works through the Bali day and evening; it checks what can be arranged and confirms only once the venue has.
