Bali for music lovers: plan a trip around the sound

Planning a Bali trip around music? Build it on the weekly programmes: headliners at Savaya and Zumana, sunset sets, Desa Kitsuné's guest DJs, a Seoul-born club built around sound, and live instruments at sunset.

A music lover's trip to Bali is best planned around the venues' weekly programmes, then fixed against the real calendar. Savaya brings international headliners at weekends and a sunset set on Mondays; Zumana has headliners on Wednesdays and Fridays; Desa Kitsuné hosts guest DJs on Tuesdays and Bali-based DJs on Fridays. Add a club built around its sound system and a sunset with live instruments, and a week has a different sound every night.

Start from the calendar, not the map

Most travellers choose a hotel and then look for parties nearby. For a music trip, reverse it: look at the events calendar for your dates, see which nights matter to you, and choose where to stay afterwards. Line-ups change night by night, and only the night's own page is reliable. The island's clubs also span a lot of ground, from the Uluwatu cliffs to Canggu, so where to stay in Bali is worth reading once you know your nights.

The headliner nights

  • Savaya, Uluwatu. The clifftop club in Pecatu hosts international headliners at weekends.
  • Zumana, Kuta. The Savaya Group's beach club at Sunset Bay has headliners on Wednesdays and Fridays, with an open-air dance floor on the beachfront.

Headliner nights are often ticketed; terms are set per night and shown on the night's page, and official tickets are sold only through the venue's own channel. At Savaya, tickets are primarily for standing room. More detail is in Bali headliner nights.

Sunsets with a soundtrack

  • Last Light, Savaya. Every Monday, the sunset set is played from The Cube, the club's landmark on the horizon.
  • Ritual of the Sun, Zumana. Saturdays on the sand in Kuta.
  • People of the Sun, Savaya. Sundays at the clifftop club.
  • El Kabron, Uluwatu. On the Pecatu cliffs, its sunset parties bring DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet; the White Sunset Party and the Afro House Sunset Party are among the weekly regulars.

Garden nights and resident sounds

Desa Kitsuné, the Savaya Group's village in Canggu with Maison Kitsuné, turns its garden into the party every Tuesday and Friday, rain or shine: guest DJs on Tuesdays, Bali-based DJs on Fridays. For a music lover, the Friday is a way to hear what the island's own DJs play.

Built for sound: Seminyak

MUIN brings a nightlife brand born in Seoul to Jalan Petitenget. The club is designed around sound and sightlines: a towering sound system, immersive lasers, a kinetic lighting rig and a stage that puts the DJ in the middle of the crowd, with residents and international guests across weekly signature nights. Les Toilettes, the K-Club Group's club down the same street, shares its address with the Sardine restaurant. Both are 21+.

A sample music week

  1. Monday: Last Light at Savaya.
  2. Tuesday: guest DJs in the garden at Desa Kitsuné.
  3. Wednesday: headliners at Zumana.
  4. Thursday: a club night at MUIN, or a sunset party at El Kabron.
  5. Friday: Bali-based DJs at Desa Kitsuné, or headliners at Zumana.
  6. Saturday: headliners at Savaya, or Ritual of the Sun at Zumana.
  7. Sunday: People of the Sun at Savaya, or Zumana Sunday.

Check every night on the calendar before you commit; a programme is a pattern, not a promise. For the genres you will hear, see Bali club music genres and Bali house music.

Practical notes for a music trip

Savaya, Zumana and Desa Kitsuné are 21+ with a valid photo ID, a passport or a driving licence. Guestlists, where a night has one, are the venues' own: you register individually for each event on the night's page, entry is complimentary only before the cutoff shown there, and registration does not guarantee entry. Savaya is cashless, searches bags and has limited lockers. A table is the only reserved space, and at Savaya and Zumana it is also the only way to leave and come back in.

How FirstBali helps

Send the concierge your dates and the nights you want. FirstBali sends each night's guestlist or ticket link, books tables with the venues on your behalf (yours once the venue confirms; any deposit follows the venue's terms), and arranges a car with a driver between the cliffs and Canggu. An assistant answers at any hour, and the team works through the Bali day and evening.
