House music in Bali: where to hear it, by moment

House music in Bali lives in the open air: melodic and Afro house at Savaya on the cliffs, sunset-into-night at Zumana in Kuta, and Desa Kitsuné's garden in Canggu on Tuesdays and Fridays.

If you want house music in Bali, head for three open-air venues from the same group: Savaya on the Uluwatu cliffs, whose own listings speak of melodic house and Afro house; Zumana, the beach club at Sunset Bay in Kuta, built around the passage from sunset into night; and Desa Kitsuné's garden in Canggu, which parties every Tuesday and Friday. House in Bali is less about a dark room than about the hour: the same genre feels different with the sun going down than under the stars.

House in Bali is a question of timing

Most of the island's house nights are outdoors, so the light shapes the evening. A set that starts in daylight tends to stay warm and melodic while the sky changes colour; the later hours are where the deeper, more driving sounds take over. When you choose a night, ask two questions: which shade of house do you like, and do you want to see the sunset while you hear it? The answer usually points to one venue.

For techno as well as house, techno clubs in Bali covers the harder end of the spectrum.

Melodic house: Savaya

Savaya sits 100 metres above the Indian Ocean in Pecatu, and DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs named it the number-one club in Asia three years running (2024–2026) and fifth in the world in 2026. Its listings describe its guests in the language of melodic house and techno and Afro house, and its weekends mostly bring international headliners.

For house lovers, the format matters as much as the artist:

  • Last Light, every Monday: a sunset set from The Cube, the landmark that frames Savaya's horizon.
  • Sundays, People of the Sun: some are billed as a sunset set, with DJs building through the day.
  • Weekend headliners: the big names, often on ticketed-only nights, so check the terms on the night's page.

Savaya at sunset or at night helps you choose between the two moods.

Sunset into night: Zumana

Zumana is Savaya Group's beach club at Sunset Bay, with an open-air dance floor beside beachfront daybeds and pools, and ZENÍA, Daniel Popper's 10-metre sculpture, at its centre. Its launch announcement speaks of "the natural transition from sunset into night", which is exactly where house music is at home.

Saturday is Ritual of the Sun, the night most clearly built around the sky. Wednesdays and Fridays bring headliners; Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are Zumana's regular days, and Thursday rotates, including Made in Kuta, which brings together local talent, music, food and culture. Dinner can come first at Manuza, the club's restaurant.

A garden and the island's DJs: Desa Kitsuné

Desa Kitsuné is a lifestyle village in Canggu, set in a 5,000 m² garden by Savaya Group with the French-Japanese brand Maison Kitsuné. Every Tuesday and Friday the Garden becomes the party, rain or shine: guest DJs on Tuesdays, Bali-based DJs on Fridays. It is the most intimate of the three, and the place to hear what the island's own selectors are playing.

Afro house with live musicians: El Kabron

El Kabron stands on the same Pecatu cliffs as Savaya. Its sunset parties bring DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet, and its weekly regulars include an Afro House Sunset Party and a White Sunset Party. If you like house with a human touch on top of the beat, it is the alternative to the big clubs, and it suits a sunset before a later night elsewhere.

How to pick your house night

  1. Choose the hour first. Sunset sessions (Last Light, Ritual of the Sun, El Kabron's sunset parties) or a full night after dark.
  2. Open the night's page. Each date on the calendar names its artist or its concept; a recent set by that artist tells you more than a genre label.
  3. Check the terms on the same page. Some nights have a guestlist, some are ticketed only, and terms change from night to night.
  4. Decide how you want to stand. A table is the only reserved space; otherwise you are on the dance floor with everyone else, which is often the point.

Before you go

  • Age: Savaya, Zumana and Desa Kitsuné are 21+, with a valid photo ID.
  • Dress: smart casual; read the Bali club dress code before packing.
  • Guestlist: free to join, one registration per person and per night, never a guarantee of entry; free entry runs until the cutoff shown on the night's page.
  • Tables: the venue sets the minimum spend for each night, and the table is yours once the venue confirms it.
  • Getting there: Uluwatu, Kuta and Canggu are spread out, so a car with driver keeps the evening simple.

Pick the night and tell the concierge: FirstBali sends you the guestlist link for it, or books a table with the venue, which confirms it. An assistant answers at any hour, and the team through the Bali day and evening.
