Bali wedding guests: a night out around the wedding

Invited to a wedding in Bali? Pick a night out by where the wedding is: Savaya near Uluwatu, Zumana in Kuta, Desa Kitsuné in Canggu. What to plan around the ceremony and how to go as a group.

If you are a guest at a wedding in Bali, the free nights before and after the ceremony are the time to go out, and the easiest choice is a venue in the same area as the wedding. Near Uluwatu that means Savaya or El Kabron, in Kuta Zumana, in Canggu Desa Kitsuné or the Berawa beach clubs. Keep the night before the ceremony light, save the big night for after, and book a table if several guests want to go together.

Plan around the wedding, not the other way

Wedding trips have fixed points: the welcome evening, the ceremony, sometimes a brunch the day after. Check the couple's schedule first, then fill the gaps.

  • The night before: a sunset or a dinner rather than a club. You want to look and feel your best the next day.
  • The wedding night: the couple's plans come first; if they organise an after party, that is the night. Our wedding after party guide is written for hosts.
  • The nights after: this is when a group of guests can go out properly, often with people who only met at the wedding.

Wedding near Uluwatu

Many Bali weddings take place on the Bukit peninsula. Savaya, on the Pecatu clifftop, is the obvious night out: DJ Mag named it the number-one club in Asia three years running and fifth in the world in its Top 100 Clubs. Mondays bring "Last Light", a sunset set from The Cube; weekends bring international headliners; Sundays are "People of the Sun". El Kabron, on the same cliffs, runs sunset parties with DJs and live saxophone, violin and trumpet, and a Mediterranean restaurant.

Wedding in Kuta, Jimbaran or Nusa Dua

Zumana, at Sunset Bay in Kuta, is a Savaya Group beach club with beachfront daybeds, poolside spaces and an open-air dance floor around ZENÍA, a sculpture by Daniel Popper. Its week runs Zumana Sunday, a weeknight rotation that includes "Made in Kuta", headliners midweek and on Fridays, and Ritual of the Sun on Saturdays. In Jimbaran, Rock Bar on the AYANA cliffs suits a sunset drink; in Nusa Dua, Le Bleu is a beachfront restaurant and beach club.

Wedding in Canggu or Seminyak

Desa Kitsuné, the Savaya Group's garden village in Canggu, holds its parties every Tuesday and Friday, rain or shine: guest DJs on Tuesdays, Bali-based DJs on Fridays. In Berawa, Finns and Atlas are daytime beach clubs; in Seminyak, Les Toilettes sits at the same address as Sardine, so dinner and a late night happen in one place.

Going out as a group of guests

  1. One table for the group: at Savaya and Zumana a table is the only reserved space, its minimum spend is set by the venue for each night, and re-entry is only with a table. Agree among yourselves how you share it before booking.
  2. Or register individually: on nights with a guestlist, each guest registers on the night's page and gets a digital ticket by email. Registration does not guarantee complimentary entry, and the venues say mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred.
  3. Bring photo ID: all three venues are 21+ with a valid passport or driver's licence, so check that younger cousins are of age.
  4. Dress for the club, not the ceremony: smart casual is the rule; see the Bali club dress code.
  5. Travel together: a driver for the night avoids splitting the group at the end. See a driver for a night out.

How FirstBali helps

Send the concierge the night, the area and how many of you are going. FirstBali checks the venue's terms for that night, books the table with the venue and checks what can be arranged for transport. The table is yours once the venue confirms it; any deposit follows the venue's terms and is not a confirmation. An assistant answers at any hour, the team through the Bali day and evening. The full calendar is on the events page.

Close to the wedding: Savaya or El Kabron near Uluwatu, Zumana in Kuta, Desa Kitsuné or the Berawa beach clubs in Canggu.

+Should we go clubbing the night before the wedding?

Most guests keep that night for a sunset or a dinner and go out after the ceremony. Follow the couple's schedule.

+Can a group of wedding guests share one table?

Yes. The venue sets the table's minimum spend per night and the table is yours once the venue confirms it.

+Can guests under 21 come to Savaya or Zumana?
