What to do at night in Bali: six kinds of evening
What to do at night in Bali, sorted by the kind of evening: a sunset bar, a long dinner, a speakeasy, a beach club, a garden party or a clifftop club, with the partner venues for each.

At night in Bali you can watch the sun go down from a cliff bar, have a long dinner that turns into a party, find a speakeasy behind an unmarked door, or go dancing at one of three flagship clubs: Savaya on the Uluwatu cliffs, Zumana on the beach in Kuta, and Desa Kitsuné in a Canggu garden. The trick is to pick the kind of evening first, then the place. Here are six.
1. Start with the sunset
The south and west coasts face the sea at the end of the day, so most Bali evenings begin with the sun going down.
- Rock Bar, AYANA's bar on the rocks above the ocean in Jimbaran, reached by inclinator, where DJs play on after sunset.
- El Kabron, on the Pecatu cliffs, whose sunset parties bring DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet.
- Savaya's Last Light on Mondays, a sunset set from The Cube.
Rock Bar
Bars · Jimbaran
Rock Bar is AYANA Bali's cliffside bar in Jimbaran, stretching some 270 metres along the rocks above the ocean, with 880 seats spread over 22 areas. Guests reach it by inclinator, watch the sun set over the sea, then stay as the DJs play on. The bar pours cocktails inspired by the colours of the sea alongside Mediterranean tapas built on Jimbaran Bay seafood. Non-resident visitors can reserve; the Round Deck is kept for villa guests and the Top Bar for hotel guests. Payment by card or QR only.
El Kabron
Beach clubs · Uluwatu
El Kabron stands on the limestone cliffs of Pecatu in Uluwatu, above the Indian Ocean, and has been open since 2011. It has three parts: the Hedonism Lounge, an adults-only infinity-pool area with daybeds and sofas; the Sunset Theater at the cliff edge, set up for sunset dinners; and a Mediterranean restaurant serving seafood, oysters, paella and steak. Its sunset parties bring DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet, with the White Sunset Party, the Afro House Sunset Party and pool parties among the weekly regulars.

2. A dinner that becomes the night
Several restaurants are built to carry the evening on:
- Sardine in Seminyak, seafood in an open-air bamboo building over rice paddies, with Les Toilettes, the hidden club on site, for later.
- MOI in Berawa, Mediterranean cooking with fire, where the mood shifts after sunset and themed nights include Bazaar MOI.
- Akar in Ubud if you are staying inland.
Sardine
Restaurants · Seminyak
Sardine by K-Club is a seafood restaurant on Jalan Petitenget in Seminyak, set in an open-air bamboo building that looks over a stretch of rice paddies, with a terrace for lunch or dinner. The kitchen cooks the daily catch (yellowfin tuna, scallops, snapper) in a modern Mediterranean style, with vegetables from its own farms and a vegetarian set menu. Evenings can run late: Les Toilettes, the hidden club on site, hosts DJs, and once a month The Gates of Bali brings fire dancers and aerial acts.
Moi
Restaurants · Berawa
MOI Canggu is a Mediterranean restaurant on Jalan Pantai Berawa, inspired by the Aegean and by Bodrum, home of its sister address MOI Bodrum. The kitchen works with fire and Mediterranean flavours, for dinners meant to be lingered over, and the cocktails draw on sun-warmed botanicals. After sunset the mood shifts and the evening turns into a party. Themed nights include Monday Society and Bazaar MOI, an Eastern Mediterranean dinner spectacle with dancers and costumes.
Akar
Restaurants · Ubud
Akar, meaning “root”, is the steakhouse of K Club in Kedisan, Tegallalang, north of Ubud, set in the greenery of the jungle. Spread over two floors with two bars and an open kitchen, it grills Australian and Japanese cuts, Wagyu included, over charcoal, alongside seafood, charcoal-roasted bone marrow and a curated wine list. On Friday and Saturday nights dinner turns festive, with live DJs, dancers and a laser show. Akar has won Best Luxury Steakhouse in Indonesia at the World Luxury Restaurant Awards.

3. Cocktails without a dance floor
For a slower night, The Shady Pig in Berawa is a speakeasy behind an unmarked door that needs a password, with experimental cocktails and DJs later on. The Apurva Kempinski in Nusa Dua has L'Atelier, a lounge with ocean views. Our guide to a night without clubs goes further.
The Shady Pig
Bars · Berawa
The Shady Pig is a speakeasy on Jalan Pantai Berawa and the original bar of The Shady Family, the group behind The Shady Fox, The Shady Flamingo and The Shady Bunny. The theme is 1920s Birmingham bootleggers: the bar hides behind an unmarked door, and you need the password to get in. Cocktails lean experimental, using distillation, barrel ageing and fermentation, from the Shelby to a barrel-aged Negroni. Small plates, pinchos and sandwiches come with the drinks, and DJs take over later in the night.
The Apurva Kempinski
Restaurants · Nusa Dua
The Apurva Kempinski Bali is a five-star resort on the cliffs of Nusa Dua, facing the Indian Ocean, and its dining spreads across several venues. Koral, which the hotel presents as Bali's first aquarium restaurant, serves set and tasting menus beside the tanks, adults only at dinner. Izakaya by OKU is a sister to OKU in Jakarta; Reef Beach Club sits on the sand beside a 42-metre infinity pool; Bai Yun serves hot pot and dim sum; L'Atelier by Cyril Kongo is a lounge with ocean views and Mediterranean tapas.
4. A beach club that runs into the night: Zumana
Zumana, at Sunset Bay in Kuta, is a Savaya Group beach club with daybeds, pools, bars and an open-air dance floor. Its week includes Ritual of the Sun on Saturdays, Zumana Sunday and a weeknight rotation with Made in Kuta, so there is something most nights.

5. A garden party: Desa Kitsuné
Desa Kitsuné in Canggu is the Savaya Group's "village", with Ina Ré, Café Kitsuné and the Maison Kitsuné boutique around its garden. Its parties run on Tuesday and Friday, rain or shine, which makes it the answer to a weeknight.

How the three clubs work
The rules are the same at all three, and worth knowing before you go:
- Guestlists are the venues' own. You register individually on the night's page, linked from the flyer on the calendar, and receive a digital ticket by email. Joining is free; entry is complimentary before the cutoff shown on that page and reduced after.
- A list is not a guarantee. Registration does not guarantee complimentary entry, and mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred.
- Some nights are ticketed only, and terms can change from night to night.
- 21+ with photo ID, a passport or driving licence.
- A table is the only reserved space, with a minimum spend set by the venue for each night. FirstBali books it with the venue, and it is yours once the venue confirms it; any deposit follows the venue's terms and is not a confirmation.
Other evenings
A boat trip at sunset is another way to spend the end of the day: see sunset cruises. And if you are here for several nights, a week of parties helps you spread them out.
Getting there and back
Evenings in Bali usually involve a drive, and traffic gathers around sunset. A car with a driver who waits takes the planning out of it; FirstBali arranges one through transport.
How FirstBali helps
Tell the concierge the kind of evening you want and where you are staying. An assistant answers at any hour and the team works through the Bali day and evening; it checks what can be arranged and confirms only once the venue has.
