Both are sunset places on the Bukit peninsula, and both stay lively after dark — but they are different kinds of evening. El Kabron is a cliff-top club in Pecatu, Uluwatu, with an adults-only infinity pool and a themed sunset party every day. Rock Bar is AYANA Bali's bar on the rocks in Jimbaran, reached by inclinator, with cocktails, tapas and DJs, where hotel guests come first. Choose El Kabron for a party with a pool; choose Rock Bar for a drink at the water's edge.

El Kabron stands on the limestone cliffs of Pecatu in Uluwatu, above the Indian Ocean, and has been open since 2011. It has three parts: the Hedonism Lounge, an adults-only infinity-pool area with daybeds and sofas; the Sunset Theater at the cliff edge, set up for sunset dinners; and a Mediterranean restaurant serving seafood, oysters, paella and steak. Its sunset parties bring DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet, with the White Sunset Party, the Afro House Sunset Party and pool parties among the weekly regulars.

Rock Bar is AYANA Bali's cliffside bar in Jimbaran, stretching some 270 metres along the rocks above the ocean, with 880 seats spread over 22 areas. Guests reach it by inclinator, watch the sun set over the sea, then stay as the DJs play on. The bar pours cocktails inspired by the colours of the sea alongside Mediterranean tapas built on Jimbaran Bay seafood. Non-resident visitors can reserve; the Round Deck is kept for villa guests and the Top Bar for hotel guests. Payment by card or QR only.

The setting
El Kabron sits on the limestone cliffs of Pecatu, high above the Indian Ocean, and has been there since 2011. It has three parts: the Hedonism Lounge, an adults-only infinity-pool area with daybeds and sofas; the Sunset Theater at the cliff edge, set up for sunset dinners; and a Mediterranean restaurant serving seafood, oysters, paella and steak.
Rock Bar is inside the AYANA resort in Jimbaran, stretched along the rocks just above the ocean, so the waves are close rather than far below. You walk through the resort and take the inclinator down. There is no pool to swim in: this is a bar, with cocktails inspired by the colours of the sea and Mediterranean tapas built on Jimbaran Bay seafood.
The mood
El Kabron is a party. Every day has its sunset party with DJs and live musicians — saxophone, violin, trumpet — and the theme changes through the week: pool parties on Wednesday and Sunday, Afro House on Thursday, the White Sunset Party on Friday with a white dress code, the Sunset Party of the Week on Saturday, the Hedonist Sunset Party on Monday and Tuesday.
Rock Bar is a bar first and a party second. The sunset is the main event; after it, the DJs play on and many people stay for dinner or another round. It is the easier choice for a couple or for guests who want conversation rather than a dance floor.
Who can sit where
At El Kabron, the choice is between a daybed or sofa in the Hedonism Lounge, a dinner table at the Sunset Theater or in the restaurant, and a party table on the party days. The front row is what goes first.
At Rock Bar, AYANA keeps the Round Deck for villa guests and the Top Bar for guests of the resort. Visitors choose from dinner tables, sofas, tapas tables, counter tops and day beds, and AYANA notes that some seat types cannot be reserved in advance. Hotel guests get priority for sunset reservations, so a visitor should ask early and stay flexible.
Both venues set a minimum spend for their seats; FirstBali asks for the amount on your date and passes on what the venue confirms.
House rules
Rock Bar publishes stricter rules: smart attire at all times (no tank tops, sleeveless shirts or surf shorts, no alcohol-brand logos), no large bags or backpacks, and card or QR payment only. Read the Bali club dress code before you pack.
El Kabron is a pool club: swimwear by the pool is the point. The pool area is adults-only, and the Friday party has its white dress code.
Getting there and back
Both are in the south of the island, and both are sunset destinations, so the road fills up at the same moment. Rock Bar is inside a resort in Jimbaran; El Kabron is out on the Uluwatu cliffs. For the way home, El Kabron says ride-hailing services may only drop off there and only local taxis may pick up — book a driver who waits. Can you do both?
