Riviera Bistro is a Mediterranean restaurant and wine bar on Jalan Pemelisan Agung in Berawa, and the original venue of the Riviera Group. It is known for fresh pasta made with local ingredients, an extensive wine list and candlelit tables; on weeknights it is a dinner, and every Saturday it becomes PRÏVE, a night of cocktails, DJs and dancing. FirstBali asks for a table through the concierge.
The Riviera story
Riviera started here. What's New Indonesia describes the group as having grown "from a beloved Mediterranean bistro in Berawa to a constellation of culinary destinations across the island", under the leadership of Chef Emilio Bean. Today the group also runs Riviera Trattoria in Pererenan, with handmade pasta, wood-fired pizza and a wine bar, and Riviera Café in the greenery of Cemagi. The bistro remains the one in the middle of Berawa, and it is the Riviera address FirstBali lists; for the Trattoria or the Café, the concierge takes the request and checks what can be arranged. The group calls it "a beacon of sophistication and vibrancy in the bustling neighborhood of Berawa", known for pairing contemporary design with Mediterranean cooking.
What to eat
Riviera presents its menu as "a journey through the Mediterranean", built on the freshest local ingredients, with fresh pasta at its heart. Dishes the restaurant itself puts forward:
- Tagliatelle with a slow-cooked Wagyu beef and pork ragù.
- Risotto cacio e pepe topped with tuna battuta — "Creamy. Fresh. Effortlessly balanced", in the bistro's words.
- Coconut mousse with dark chocolate, mango, whipped cream and crispy coconut, to finish.
Menus evolve, so ask the concierge if you are looking for something specific, or if someone at the table has an allergy or dietary need; it is passed on with your request.
The wine list and the bar
The wine list is the other reason people come: Riviera calls it extensive and "designed for indulgence". The bar is meant to be used — for an aperitif before dinner, a glass during it, or a last drink at the end of the night.
Two regular moments are worth knowing:
- Aperitivo Hour, when cocktails come with small bites, in the Italian way.
- Steak and martini on Tuesdays, a pairing the bistro runs each week.
The terms of each are set by the restaurant and passed on by the concierge when you ask.
Saturday: PRÏVE
Every Saturday, Riviera Bistro turns into PRÏVE. In the group's words: "What starts as dinner with friends gradually becomes a night of cocktails, DJs, and dancing", with Italian-inspired dishes and signature drinks, and an atmosphere that keeps the evening going long after dessert. Riviera describes PRÏVE as inspired by the charm of the Côte d'Azur, with refined small bites and bottle specials, "crafted for those who appreciate slow dining, good company, and elegant nights".
Choose your night by the mood you want. For a quiet dinner for two, a weeknight suits better; Saturday is for a group that wants dinner and a party without changing address. More ideas for both in romantic dinners in Bali and Canggu nightlife.
Groups and private events
Riviera offers bespoke event hosting: celebrations designed around what you have in mind, with a team that takes care of the detail. For a birthday, a hen or stag dinner or a team dinner, tell the concierge the date, the size of the group and the occasion, and the restaurant answers with what it can do. A Berawa evening
Berawa is compact enough to build an evening around Riviera: a sunset at a beach club such as Finns, dinner at the bistro, and on a Saturday, PRÏVE to finish. Berawa's roads are busy at sunset and late at night, so a driver who waits makes the evening simpler; the concierge can add one to the same request.
How FirstBali books it
Tell the concierge the date, how many you are, and whether it is a quiet dinner or PRÏVE you are after. FirstBali asks Riviera and passes on its answer, including any set menu, minimum spend or deposit the restaurant sets for that night. The table is yours once the venue confirms it. If you are flexible on the night, say so: the restaurant answers on availability and you choose. Our assistant replies at any hour; the team picks up through the Bali day and evening.
