For a group dinner in Bali, start with the restaurants that say on their own pages that they host groups: Ina Ré and MîA in Canggu and Berawa offer private dining and private events, BELLA can be hired privately, Giselle reserves part of its room for a group, Miss Fish tailors group events, Sardine in Seminyak sets aside whole areas, Akar near Ubud and Le Bleu in Nusa Dua can be taken over entirely. Anywhere else, a long table is still possible, but it is the restaurant's decision; the concierge sends the request with your headcount and date and comes back with the answer.
Private room, private area or the whole place
Three different things hide behind "private dining", and it helps to know which you want before you ask:
- A private room: a separate space, a door, your own service. Best for speeches, a business dinner or a celebration that should not share the room.
- A reserved area: part of the restaurant set aside for the group. You keep the atmosphere of a busy room without fighting for space.
- The whole restaurant: private hire, where the venue closes to the public for you. The answer depends on the date, and the restaurant sets the conditions.
Berawa and Canggu
- Ina Ré, the restaurant of Desa Kitsuné, offers private dining for "special occasions or intimate gatherings", with tailored menus. Desa Kitsuné also hosts private events across its grounds, the Garden included.
- MîA, on Jalan Raya Semat, hosts private events, intimate celebrations, corporate gatherings and special occasions, and says its team shapes each event around the occasion. Its modern Asian menu is built for sharing.
- BELLA, on Jalan Pantai Berawa, is available for private hire for special occasions. On an ordinary night the room turns into a party around its DJ booth, which suits a group that wants the evening to carry on.
- Giselle, on Jalan Tanah Barak, states that part of the restaurant can be reserved for a group; seafood and plates to share lead the menu, and Club 55 takes over after dinner on Friday and Saturday nights.
- Miss Fish, on Jalan Raya Semat, runs "Private & Group Events", for which it tailors menus, seating and the bar, from birthdays to intimate dinners.
Ina Ré
Restaurants · Canggu
Ina Ré is the restaurant of Desa Kitsuné, the lifestyle village on Jalan Munduk Catu in Canggu. Chilean executive chef Cristian Encina brings together Mediterranean flavours and Latin American street food: paellas to share, ceviches, tacos, empanadas and wood-fired meats such as the Stockyard tomahawk. The space draws on Balinese arts and crafts, with handmade materials, weavings and traditional motifs, and includes private dining rooms for groups. Sunday brunch has its own menu, and so do Courtyard Saturdays.
MiA
Restaurants · Berawa
MîA is a modern Asian restaurant and bar on Jalan Raya Semat in Tibubeneng, in the Berawa part of Canggu. The menu is built for sharing, pairing Asian heritage with contemporary technique: Wagyu gyoza with karashi, soft-shell crab with amazu ponzu, Chilean sea bass tempura and Thai green curry. Carefully crafted drinks are made to match the food, and the setting blends modern style with traditional touches under the open Bali sky. A table here is made for gathering friends.
BELLA
Restaurants · Berawa
BELLA is a contemporary Mediterranean and Middle Eastern restaurant on Jalan Pantai Berawa, run by The SEN Group. Executive chef Oğuz Karadoğan, formerly of Lokanta 1741 in Istanbul, cooks a wood-fired menu made for sharing: lamb meatballs in rich tomato sauce with Hokkaido bread, a Mediterranean ceviche of seabass, kefir and gremolata, a whole roasted cauliflower with tahini. The room is built around an open kitchen, a long bar and a DJ booth, and the evening turns into a party, with weekly Taverna nights and Kitchen Party.
Giselle
Restaurants · Canggu
Giselle is a Mediterranean restaurant on Jalan Tanah Barak in Canggu, created by a group of friends with deep roots in hospitality, who call it “a house for friends, strangers, and stories”. The mood is the Riviera brought to Bali, across a dining room and a courtyard. Seafood leads the menu, with crudos, a seafood platter, sea bream sashimi and flambéed fish, alongside homemade pasta and plates for sharing, built on local, responsibly sourced ingredients. On Friday and Saturday nights, Club 55 takes over after dinner.
Miss Fish
Restaurants · Berawa
Miss Fish is a Japanese restaurant and late-night venue on Jalan Raya Semat in Berawa, Canggu, open since 2022. Executive Chef Carlos Barvo leads a seasonal omakase that pairs Japanese technique with European and Latin American influences. Guests choose between the Omakase Bar, a chef-guided onyx counter, the open-air Patio and the Lounge for cocktails and shared plates, and the bar holds more than 40 sakes and Japanese whiskies. Later in the evening, DJs take over. Dress code: smart casual.
Seminyak
Sardine, on Jalan Petitenget, sets out its spaces for private events one by one: a terrace with a flexible layout for medium-sized groups, a modular dining area that can be reconfigured entirely for a private event, a main bar with sofas, and an open-air ricefield area for large gatherings. It names weddings and anniversaries, birthdays and business dinners among the occasions. Les Toilettes, the club on the same site, is there when the dinner wants a second half.
Ubud and Nusa Dua
Akar, in Kedisan, north of Ubud, offers exclusive venue hire and flexible event concepts, for birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions. Its own pages name two private spaces: the Akar Lounge, upstairs, for private dinners and cocktail receptions, and the Kanva Lounge, a private dining area for special occasions. On Friday and Saturday nights dinner turns festive, with DJs, dancers and a laser show — good for a party, less so for speeches.
Le Bleu, on Nusa Dua Beach, can be reserved exclusively for private events, and calls itself dedicated to "the art of the intimate celebration".
Akar
Restaurants · Ubud
Akar, meaning “root”, is the steakhouse of K Club in Kedisan, Tegallalang, north of Ubud, set in the greenery of the jungle. Spread over two floors with two bars and an open kitchen, it grills Australian and Japanese cuts, Wagyu included, over charcoal, alongside seafood, charcoal-roasted bone marrow and a curated wine list. On Friday and Saturday nights dinner turns festive, with live DJs, dancers and a laser show. Akar has won Best Luxury Steakhouse in Indonesia at the World Luxury Restaurant Awards.
Le Bleu
Beach clubs · Nusa Dua
Le Bleu by K Club is a beachfront restaurant and beach club on Nusa Dua Beach, in the ITDC resort area, run by the K-Club Group. The look is French Riviera by way of Bali, all blue and white, with sunbeds, cabanas, terraces and an indoor dining room. The kitchen leans on seafood, from lobster linguine to yellowfin tuna tataki, with vegetarian and vegan options. The weekly programme mixes yoga, cocktail workshops, beach games and festive Sunday gatherings with a DJ.
Anywhere else: how to ask
A restaurant that does not publish a group offer may still seat a long table on the right night. What decides it is the headcount, the date and how flexible you are. To give the concierge everything the restaurant will ask:
- The exact headcount, and whether it may change. A table for four is a reservation; a table for fourteen is a seating plan.
- The date, and a second one if you can move. Weekends and holiday periods fill first.
- Set menu or à la carte. Many restaurants prefer a set or sharing menu for a large table, so that the kitchen can serve everyone together.
- Dietary needs, all of them, in the first message.
- The atmosphere. Several rooms in Berawa turn into a party later in the evening, with a DJ; say whether you want that or quiet for speeches.
- Extras: a cake, a moment for a toast, flowers. These are requests the restaurant answers, not promises.
A large table may come with a minimum spend or a deposit. The restaurant sets it, for that date and that group; FirstBali passes on the amount it confirms, and nothing is quoted before. Browse all the restaurants FirstBali books in the venues, and see the Berawa restaurants guide and Canggu's restaurants for more addresses.
Getting the group there and back
A group dinner ends with a group that needs to get home together. FirstBali's fleet includes vans with a driver for a whole group and people carriers with a driver for a smaller one, booked for the evening. See the fleet.
