Uluwatu nightlife: clifftop club, beach clubs, sunset bars

Uluwatu's nightlife lives on the cliffs: Savaya for a club night, El Kabron and White Rock for beach clubs, Rock Bar in Jimbaran for sunset. Pick the kind of night, then book the car home.

Uluwatu's nightlife is built on the cliffs of the Bukit peninsula, at the southern end of Bali. There is one big clifftop club, Savaya; two beach clubs worth an afternoon that runs into the evening, El Kabron and White Rock; and, at Jimbaran on the way in, Rock Bar for sunset. The venues are spread along the coast rather than lined up on one street, so the way to plan a night here is to choose its shape first and book the car home before anything else.

How a night out in Uluwatu works

This is not a bar-hopping district. Savaya is in Pecatu, El Kabron on the Pecatu cliffs too, White Rock on Melasti Beach in Ungasan, and Rock Bar at AYANA in Jimbaran: each is a destination in itself, and you go to one or two of them in a night, not five. The hinge of the evening is the sunset. Most of these venues are built to face it, and most good Uluwatu nights either start with it or are organised around it.

The clifftop club: Savaya

Savaya sits between jungle and limestone cliffs in Pecatu, set, in the venue's words, "100 metres above the Indian Ocean", with pools and The Cube framing the horizon. DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs poll named it the number-one club in Asia three years running (2024–2026). It is open daily, strictly 21+ with photo ID, smart casual at the door.

The week has a pattern. Monday is Last Light, the club's own night built around the magic hour over the ocean. Weekday nights carry the Savaya name; weekends mostly bring international headliners. Many nights have a free guestlist, some headline nights are ticketed only, and the coming dates show which is which:

The detail is in the Savaya guide and Last Light explained.

Beach clubs on the cliff: El Kabron and White Rock

El Kabron stands on the limestone cliffs of Pecatu. It has three parts: the Hedonism Lounge, an adults-only infinity-pool area with daybeds and sofas; the Sunset Theater at the cliff edge, set up for sunset dinners; and a Mediterranean restaurant. Its sunset parties bring DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet, with the White Sunset Party and the Afro House Sunset Party among the weekly regulars.

White Rock sits at the end of the cliff on Melasti Beach, with daybeds, sofas and cabanas around a lagoon pool and a rock pool. Resident DJs play every day, foam parties run at weekends, and enclosed, air-conditioned party suites overlook the pool and the ocean.

The sunset bar: Rock Bar

Rock Bar is AYANA Bali's cliffside bar in Jimbaran. You go down to it by inclinator, watch the sun set over the sea, then stay as the DJs play on. Visitors who are not staying at the resort can reserve; the Round Deck is kept for villa guests and the Top Bar for hotel guests, and payment is by card or QR only.

Dinner before the night

Uluwatu's dinners are mostly attached to the views. El Kabron's restaurant serves seafood, oysters, paella and steak, and its Sunset Theater is laid out for dinner as the light goes. Rock Bar pours cocktails beside Mediterranean tapas built on Jimbaran Bay seafood, which is enough for a long sunset but not a full meal. For a sit-down dinner elsewhere on the island, see the romantic dinner guide.

Three ways to shape the night

  1. Sunset, dinner, club. Rock Bar or El Kabron for the light, dinner, then Savaya. The classic, and the one that most needs a table booked in advance.
  2. The long afternoon. A daybed at White Rock or El Kabron, sunset from the same spot, home after dark. No club, no late drive.
  3. Monday at Savaya. Last Light makes the sunset the main event, so one venue covers the whole evening.

Getting there and back

Book a car with a driver who stays for the evening. Official travel advice explains why. The UK Foreign Office reports a large increase in moped and motorbike accidents in Bali, some fatal, and warns against drivers who try to pick up passengers on the street claiming to work for an app. Canada's travel advice is to avoid driving after dark outside major cities and major roads, because some drivers do not use lights.

If you ride a scooter in daylight, Indonesian traffic law requires both rider and passenger to wear a helmet meeting the national standard. After a night out, do not ride at all: the driver is the plan. FirstBali arranges cars with a driver, from a Toyota Innova Zenix to an Alphard, in the same message as the table.

How FirstBali books it

Tell the concierge the date, the size of your group and the kind of night you want. FirstBali books tables with the venue on your behalf, and a table is yours once the venue has confirmed it, with the amount the venue sets for that night. For Savaya, FirstBali sends you the guestlist link and you register yourself.

Questions we get asked

+Is there nightlife in Uluwatu?

Yes, built on the cliffs rather than along a street. Savaya is the clifftop club, El Kabron and White Rock are beach clubs that run from the afternoon into the evening, and Rock Bar in Jimbaran is the sunset bar.

+What is the best club in Uluwatu?

Savaya is the clifftop club of the Bukit, and DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs poll named it the number-one club in Asia three years running (2024–2026). It is strictly 21+ with photo ID.

+Is Uluwatu or Seminyak better for nightlife?

Uluwatu for sunset on the cliffs and one big club night; Seminyak for a late night in town with clubs closer together. They are at different ends of the south, so pick one per night.

+How do I get home from a night out in Uluwatu?

Book a car with a driver who waits for you, arranged before you go out. Official UK and Canadian travel advice warns about motorbike accidents and driving after dark, so do not ride a scooter home.

+Can I watch the sunset and go clubbing in Uluwatu the same night?

Yes: sunset at Rock Bar or El Kabron, dinner, then Savaya. On Mondays, Savaya's Last Light makes the sunset part of the club night itself.

+Do I need to book in advance for Uluwatu clubs?

For a table, yes, especially on headline weekends. The guestlist at Savaya is free to join on the nights that have one, but some headline nights are ticketed only and the list never guarantees entry.
