Anniversary in Bali: dinners, sunsets, a boat for two

For an anniversary in Bali, book one dinner for the setting — a candlelit beach table, a jungle lounge, rice fields — then add a sunset, a boat for two or a villa. Where, and how to plan it.

To celebrate an anniversary in Bali, book one dinner for its setting — a candlelit table on Nusa Dua beach, a private lounge in the jungle near Ubud, a terrace over the rice fields in Seminyak — and build the day around it: a sunset first, a boat for two, or a slow morning at a spa. Three restaurants in our catalogue name anniversaries on their own pages.

An evening, a day or a weekend?

An anniversary in Bali can be one dinner, a whole day, or a weekend in a villa. Decide that first, because it decides the area. Nusa Dua and Uluwatu suit a quiet day by the sea and a sunset on the cliffs; the hills near Ubud, a night in the jungle; Seminyak and Canggu, a dinner that can carry on into a night out. If the anniversary is part of a longer trip, the honeymoon guide explains how to choose your bases.

Restaurants that celebrate anniversaries

  • Le Bleu, Nusa Dua: a candlelight dinner by the beach, with tables for two and a special set menu. Its Intimate Package names anniversaries among the occasions it is made for, alongside engagements and post-wedding celebrations.
  • Akar, near Ubud: a charcoal-grill steakhouse in the jungle whose private-event page invites guests to celebrate "birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions". Its Kanva Lounge is a private dining area, often arranged — in Akar's own words — for "intimate and romantic" dinners. The dress code is smart casual.
  • Sardine, Seminyak: an open-air bamboo building over the rice paddies, which calls itself a spot for "a romantic dinner" and "intimate date nights", and hosts weddings and anniversaries as private events.
Le Bleu

Le Bleu

Beach clubs · Nusa Dua

Le Bleu by K Club is a beachfront restaurant and beach club on Nusa Dua Beach, in the ITDC resort area, run by the K-Club Group. The look is French Riviera by way of Bali, all blue and white, with sunbeds, cabanas, terraces and an indoor dining room. The kitchen leans on seafood, from lobster linguine to yellowfin tuna tataki, with vegetarian and vegan options. The weekly programme mixes yoga, cocktail workshops, beach games and festive Sunday gatherings with a DJ.

Akar

Akar

Restaurants · Ubud

Akar, meaning “root”, is the steakhouse of K Club in Kedisan, Tegallalang, north of Ubud, set in the greenery of the jungle. Spread over two floors with two bars and an open kitchen, it grills Australian and Japanese cuts, Wagyu included, over charcoal, alongside seafood, charcoal-roasted bone marrow and a curated wine list. On Friday and Saturday nights dinner turns festive, with live DJs, dancers and a laser show. Akar has won Best Luxury Steakhouse in Indonesia at the World Luxury Restaurant Awards.

Sardine

Sardine

Restaurants · Seminyak

Sardine by K-Club is a seafood restaurant on Jalan Petitenget in Seminyak, set in an open-air bamboo building that looks over a stretch of rice paddies, with a terrace for lunch or dinner. The kitchen cooks the daily catch (yellowfin tuna, scallops, snapper) in a modern Mediterranean style, with vegetables from its own farms and a vegetarian set menu. Evenings can run late: Les Toilettes, the hidden club on site, hosts DJs, and once a month The Gates of Bali brings fire dancers and aerial acts.

Sunset first, or something unusual

An anniversary dinner is better after a sunset you watched together, or in a room you will not see anywhere else.

  • El Kabron's Sunset Theater stands at the cliff edge in Uluwatu, set up for sunset dinners. It is adults-only; the dress code is smart casual, resort wear or elegant attire. In bad weather, reservations there move indoors to the restaurant.
  • Rock Bar, on the rocks below AYANA in Jimbaran, takes reservations from visitors who are not staying at the resort; payment is by card or QR only.
  • Koral, the aquarium restaurant at The Apurva Kempinski in Nusa Dua, serves adults only at dinner, and its tunnel tables are for two adults. Specific seating requests are not guaranteed, so ask early.
El Kabron

El Kabron

Beach clubs · Uluwatu

El Kabron stands on the limestone cliffs of Pecatu in Uluwatu, above the Indian Ocean, and has been open since 2011. It has three parts: the Hedonism Lounge, an adults-only infinity-pool area with daybeds and sofas; the Sunset Theater at the cliff edge, set up for sunset dinners; and a Mediterranean restaurant serving seafood, oysters, paella and steak. Its sunset parties bring DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet, with the White Sunset Party, the Afro House Sunset Party and pool parties among the weekly regulars.

Rock Bar

Rock Bar

Bars · Jimbaran

Rock Bar is AYANA Bali's cliffside bar in Jimbaran, stretching some 270 metres along the rocks above the ocean, with 880 seats spread over 22 areas. Guests reach it by inclinator, watch the sun set over the sea, then stay as the DJs play on. The bar pours cocktails inspired by the colours of the sea alongside Mediterranean tapas built on Jimbaran Bay seafood. Non-resident visitors can reserve; the Round Deck is kept for villa guests and the Top Bar for hotel guests. Payment by card or QR only.

The Apurva Kempinski

The Apurva Kempinski

Restaurants · Nusa Dua

The Apurva Kempinski Bali is a five-star resort on the cliffs of Nusa Dua, facing the Indian Ocean, and its dining spreads across several venues. Koral, which the hotel presents as Bali's first aquarium restaurant, serves set and tasting menus beside the tanks, adults only at dinner. Izakaya by OKU is a sister to OKU in Jakarta; Reef Beach Club sits on the sand beside a 42-metre infinity pool; Bai Yun serves hot pot and dim sum; L'Atelier by Cyril Kongo is a lounge with ocean views and Mediterranean tapas.

A boat for two

Two trips on FirstBali's boat list are made for a couple: Dinner for two at sea, a three-course dinner served on board a private yacht, and Nusa Lembongan at sundown, a private cruise with snorkelling before the day goes. Keep a spare day in the plan in case the sea does not cooperate. All the trips are in the boat party guide.

A villa, and a slower morning

A private villa turns an anniversary into a stay: breakfast on your own terrace, a pool nobody else uses, no reason to leave. Browse our villas. For dinner at the house, the concierge can ask about a cook — the private chef guide explains how it usually works — and nothing is promised until the villa confirms it.

For the morning after, Regent Bali Canggu is home to the first Regent Spa & Wellness, and White Rock has a spa at the cliff's edge above Melasti Beach, with Balinese and aromatherapy massages on its menu.

The small touches

Small touches are what turn a good dinner into an anniversary. Tell the concierge what you have in mind — flowers on the table, a cake, a handwritten note, a photographer — and we ask the venue what it can do. Each venue has its own rules: Koral, for one, allows photos with phone cameras only, and no professional cameras. Nothing is promised until the venue says yes. If it is a surprise, say so when you write.

Getting there and back

An anniversary evening deserves a car that waits. A Toyota Alphard with driver, or one of the limousines on request — a Mercedes-Benz S400, a BMW 730Li or a Rolls-Royce Ghost — can be booked with the same message as the table. See the limousine guide.

How FirstBali arranges it

Tell the concierge the date, the mood you want, and whether it is a surprise. We ask each venue on your behalf; the table, the boat or the villa is yours once the venue or the owner confirms it, and any minimum spend or deposit comes from the venue before you decide. An assistant replies at any hour, and the team follows up during its working hours.
