Client entertainment in Bali: dinner, then a table

Entertaining clients in Bali works best as a dinner where you can talk, then an optional table at Savaya, Zumana or Desa Kitsuné, with a driver throughout. Where to go and how to arrange it.

Entertaining clients in Bali works best in two parts: a dinner in a room where you can actually talk, then, only if your guests want it, a reserved table at a club such as Savaya, Zumana or Desa Kitsuné. Keep a car with a driver for the whole evening. FirstBali books each step with the venues through the concierge; each is set once the venue confirms it.

Start with the guest, not the venue

A client evening fails when it is planned for the host. Before choosing anywhere, find out three things, discreetly if need be:

  1. Whether your guests drink, and what they eat. Dietary needs and alcohol shape the restaurant more than its view does.
  2. Whether they want a night out at all. Some guests will enjoy a headliner at a clifftop club; others would rather be back at the hotel after dessert. Plan the dinner as a complete evening, and the club as an option.
  3. Whether the evening is for business or for thanks. A conversation needs a quieter room; an appreciation night can be livelier.

The dinner: rooms that say they host clients

Some restaurants in the FirstBali catalogue invite this kind of evening in their own words.

  • Sardine, Seminyak: a seafood restaurant in an open-air bamboo building over rice paddies, whose events page addresses companies directly: "Host your clients, partners or team". Les Toilettes, the hidden club on site, is there if the night continues.
  • Akar, north of Ubud: the K Club steakhouse in the jungle, which lists "partner appreciation nights" and "board dinners" among the events it hosts. It has won Best Luxury Steakhouse in Indonesia at the World Luxury Restaurant Awards. On Friday and Saturday nights dinner turns festive, so choose another night for a conversation.
  • Ina Ré, Canggu: the restaurant of Desa Kitsuné, with private dining rooms. On a Tuesday or Friday the garden party is a few steps away.
  • The Apurva Kempinski, Nusa Dua: several restaurants in one clifftop resort, including Koral, presented by the hotel as Bali's first aquarium restaurant, adults only at dinner.
Sardine

Sardine

Restaurants · Seminyak

Sardine by K-Club is a seafood restaurant on Jalan Petitenget in Seminyak, set in an open-air bamboo building that looks over a stretch of rice paddies, with a terrace for lunch or dinner. The kitchen cooks the daily catch (yellowfin tuna, scallops, snapper) in a modern Mediterranean style, with vegetables from its own farms and a vegetarian set menu. Evenings can run late: Les Toilettes, the hidden club on site, hosts DJs, and once a month The Gates of Bali brings fire dancers and aerial acts.

Akar

Akar

Restaurants · Ubud

Akar, meaning “root”, is the steakhouse of K Club in Kedisan, Tegallalang, north of Ubud, set in the greenery of the jungle. Spread over two floors with two bars and an open kitchen, it grills Australian and Japanese cuts, Wagyu included, over charcoal, alongside seafood, charcoal-roasted bone marrow and a curated wine list. On Friday and Saturday nights dinner turns festive, with live DJs, dancers and a laser show. Akar has won Best Luxury Steakhouse in Indonesia at the World Luxury Restaurant Awards.

Ina Ré

Ina Ré

Restaurants · Canggu

Ina Ré is the restaurant of Desa Kitsuné, the lifestyle village on Jalan Munduk Catu in Canggu. Chilean executive chef Cristian Encina brings together Mediterranean flavours and Latin American street food: paellas to share, ceviches, tacos, empanadas and wood-fired meats such as the Stockyard tomahawk. The space draws on Balinese arts and crafts, with handmade materials, weavings and traditional motifs, and includes private dining rooms for groups. Sunday brunch has its own menu, and so do Courtyard Saturdays.

The Apurva Kempinski

The Apurva Kempinski

Restaurants · Nusa Dua

The Apurva Kempinski Bali is a five-star resort on the cliffs of Nusa Dua, facing the Indian Ocean, and its dining spreads across several venues. Koral, which the hotel presents as Bali's first aquarium restaurant, serves set and tasting menus beside the tanks, adults only at dinner. Izakaya by OKU is a sister to OKU in Jakarta; Reef Beach Club sits on the sand beside a 42-metre infinity pool; Bai Yun serves hot pot and dim sum; L'Atelier by Cyril Kongo is a lounge with ocean views and Mediterranean tapas.

The night out: a table, never the queue

If your guests want to go on, a reserved table is the only sensible format. It is the only reserved space in these clubs, its minimum spend is set by the venue for that night, and it lets the group sit together rather than stand in a crowd. At Savaya and Zumana it is also the only way to step out and come back in.

  • Savaya, on the Uluwatu clifftop, which DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs has named the number-one club in Asia. Weekend nights bring international headliners; Monday's Last Light is a sunset set from The Cube.
  • Zumana, the Savaya Group's beach club at Sunset Bay in Kuta, which suits an afternoon-to-sunset meeting as much as a night.
  • Desa Kitsuné, in Canggu, with garden parties on Tuesdays and Fridays and dinner at Ina Ré at the same address.

What every guest should know before the club

  • 21+ with a valid photo ID at all three: passport or driver's licence. Tell your guests before they leave the hotel.
  • Smart casual. See the club dress code.
  • The door decides. All three state that mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred; a group of men only should rely on a confirmed table rather than the guestlist.
  • Savaya is cashless. Have a card or a phone to pay.

The car matters more than it looks

Nothing undoes a good dinner like a guest left waiting outside a club. Keep one vehicle with a driver for the whole evening: a BMW 730Li or a Mercedes-Benz S400 for one or two guests, a Toyota Alphard for a small group. The driver can take a guest home early while the rest go on. See a driver for the night and the transport page.

What not to promise your client

Do not tell a guest a table is held, a room is private or a gesture is planned until the venue has said so. Anything personal, a dessert with a message, a bottle on arrival, a quieter corner, is a request the concierge passes on, not a service we can guarantee. A deposit, if the venue asks for one, follows its terms and does not confirm the booking by itself.

How FirstBali arranges it

Send the concierge the date, how many guests, any dietary needs, whether the evening is for talking or celebrating, and whether a club is on the cards. We book the restaurant, the table and the car with each venue on your behalf; we never pass on the venues' contact details. An assistant answers at any hour, the team through the Bali day and evening.

Questions we get asked

+Where can I take clients for dinner in Bali?

Restaurants that say they host such evenings include Sardine in Seminyak, Akar near Ubud and Ina Ré in Canggu, which has private dining rooms. The concierge books them for you.

+Is a club a good idea with clients?

Only if your guests want it. Plan the dinner as a full evening and offer a reserved table at Savaya, Zumana or Desa Kitsuné as an option.

+Do clients need ID for the clubs?

Yes. Savaya, Zumana and Desa Kitsuné are 21+ and ask for a valid photo ID such as a passport or driver's licence.

+Which car should I book for clients?

A BMW 730Li or Mercedes-Benz S400 with a driver for one or two guests, a Toyota Alphard for a small group, kept for the whole evening.

+How much should I budget?

Each venue sets its own terms, and a club table has a minimum spend set per night. The concierge passes on the venues' answers; we never quote a figure.

+When is everything confirmed?

Each booking is confirmed when its venue confirms it. A deposit, if asked, follows the venue's terms and is not a confirmation in itself.
