Bali guestlists: what they are, what they are not

Complimentary entry before the night's cutoff, a digital ticket by email — and a set of small rules that decide whether it works. How guestlists run here, and when a table is the better answer.

Updated October 12, 2026 · 4 min read

A guestlist is the simplest thing in Bali nightlife and the most misunderstood. It is not a VIP status, it is not a table, and it is not a guarantee that you will get in whenever you turn up. It is a list, with your name on it, for one specific event.

What you actually get

Complimentary entry before the night's cutoff, a reduced entry fee after it, and a digital ticket sent to your email. Nothing more, and for most nights nothing more is needed: you walk in, you buy your own drinks, you stand where everyone stands.

The rules that decide whether it works

  • It is capacity-limited. Management can cap capacity or close an event at any time, and a registration does not create space on a full night.
  • It has a cutoff. The complimentary entry only applies before the cutoff shown on the night's page, and that cutoff varies by venue and by event — at Desa Kitsuné it is earlier for men than for women. Arrive after it and you pay the reduced entry fee. The details are in the guestlist cutoff explained.
  • It is per person, with a name. "Guests are required to register individually for each event they wish to attend." Bring three friends and all three need to be on it, with their real details: false information means you are not added.
  • It is per event, not per venue. Being on last Friday's list means nothing this Friday.
  • Some nights have no list at all. Big headliners are often "ticketed only", and official tickets are sold only through the venue's own channel. Check the night's page before assuming there is a guestlist.
  • The door still applies. Dress code, sobriety, age (21+ at Savaya, Zumana and Desa Kitsuné), group composition — mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred. A list gets you past the price, not past the door.

Guestlist or table?

Take the guestlist when you are a couple or a small group, you want to move around, and you are happy standing. Take a table when you are a group, when you want somewhere to put your drinks and your friends, or when the night is big enough that the floor will be shoulder to shoulder. The table is the only reserved space, with a minimum spend set by the venue for that night; joining the guestlist costs nothing. They are different products for different evenings — and on a busy Saturday, the group that booked a table is the group with a space of its own. How tables work: table booking in Bali.

How to get on one

FirstBali gives you the link to the night's guestlist page — or open the night from the events page and press Guestlist. You register yourself on the venue's form: how many guests, then your name, gender, island status, Instagram, nationality and email. You then receive a digital ticket at the email you gave. Bring it to the door with a valid ID. If there is no Guestlist button, the night is likely ticketed only, and a table may still be the answer. The full walk-through, including what to do when no ticket arrives, is in how to register for a Bali guestlist.

Being useful about it

Two habits make the difference between a good night and a wasted taxi:

Arrive inside the window. The complimentary entry ends at the cutoff shown on the night's page. Well before it is a night out; just after it is the reduced entry fee.

Read the night, not the venue. Terms change from date to date — guestlist or ticketed only, cutoff, dress code. Open that night's page on the day, not last week's.

What it costs

Joining the list costs nothing. It gives complimentary entry before the night's cutoff and a reduced entry fee after it — what you spend inside is up to you. If someone asks you to pay for a "guestlist", you are buying something else: an entry ticket, a table, or a promoter's arrangement. Worth knowing which of the three you are being sold — and that official tickets come only from the venue's own channel.

Questions we get asked

+Are Bali guestlists really free?

Joining costs nothing. At Savaya, Zumana and Desa Kitsuné, the guestlist gives complimentary entry before the cutoff shown on the night's page and a reduced entry fee after it. If you are asked to pay for the list itself, you are buying a ticket or a table, which is a different thing.

+How late can I join a guestlist?

Register as early as you can: management can cap capacity or close an event at any time, and some nights are ticketed only with no list at all. Whatever the registration, complimentary entry only applies before the cutoff on the night's page.

+Do I need a guestlist for each friend?

Yes. Guests are required to register individually for each event, with their real details, on the night's guestlist page. The digital ticket goes to the email given in the form.

+How do I get on a guestlist in Bali?

Open the night from firstbali.com/events, or use the link FirstBali sends you, press Guestlist and fill in the venue's form yourself. You receive a digital ticket by email; bring it to the door with a valid ID.

+Does a guestlist guarantee entry?

No. Registration does not guarantee complimentary entry: the door can refuse, capacity can be capped, and dress code and sobriety still apply. A table is the only reserved space.
