Uluwatu vs Canggu nightlife: which area for your nights

Uluwatu or Canggu for nightlife? Clifftop sunsets and Savaya on one side, beach clubs, bars and Desa Kitsuné's garden on the other. How the two evenings differ, and how to choose.

Updated October 26, 2026 · 3 min read

Uluwatu's nightlife is built on the cliffs: sunset venues above the ocean and Savaya, the clifftop club in Pecatu that DJ Mag ranks number one in Asia. Canggu's is built on density: beach clubs, restaurants that turn into parties, a speakeasy, and Desa Kitsuné's garden parties on Tuesday and Friday. Choose Uluwatu for a few big, scenic nights; choose Canggu for something different every evening within one area.

The short answer

  • Uluwatu suits a trip planned around a headline night and long sunsets. Venues are spread along the cliffs of the Bukit, so each evening is usually one place, chosen well.
  • Canggu suits a trip where you want to wander: Berawa alone holds beach clubs, restaurants and bars along the same roads, so an evening can move from one to the next.

Neither is a mistake. The question is what kind of night you want most often.

Uluwatu: the cliffs

Uluwatu's evenings start with the view. The venues sit on limestone above the Indian Ocean:

  • Savaya, on the Pecatu clifftop. Mondays are Last Light, a sunset set from The Cube; weekends bring headliners; Sundays are People of the Sun.
  • El Kabron, also in Pecatu, with sunset parties that pair DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet, and a Sunset Theater at the cliff edge for dinner.
  • White Rock Beach Club, on Melasti Beach in Ungasan, with daybeds around a lagoon pool, resident DJs every day and foam parties at weekends.

The Uluwatu nightlife guide goes venue by venue.

Canggu: the neighbourhood

Canggu's evening is a sequence rather than a destination:

  • Desa Kitsuné, the Savaya Group's "village" with Ina Ré, Café Kitsuné and the Maison Kitsuné boutique around a garden. Its parties run on Tuesday and Friday, rain or shine.
  • Atlas Beach Club and Finns Beach Club in Berawa for the beach club afternoon that runs into sunset.
  • The Shady Pig, a speakeasy behind an unmarked door that needs a password; MOI and Jade, restaurants where the mood shifts after dark.
Atlas Beach Club

Atlas Beach Club

Beach clubs · Berawa

Atlas Beach Club sits on Berawa Beach and bills itself as the biggest beach club in the world. Its signature beanbags sit right on the sand facing the sea, beside a vast pool and a pool bar where DJs play through the day. Daybeds and sofas are spread across distinct zones, from The Deck restaurant overlooking the beach to the Party Side in front of the stage. Daily shows draw on the four elements, and a beachfront padel court and a 100-metre flying fox complete the site.

Finns Beach Club

Finns Beach Club

Beach clubs · Berawa

FINNS Beach Club stretches along the beachfront at Berawa, in Canggu, under a bamboo structure designed by PBM Architecture. It is adults-only and divided into several party zones, from FINNS Beach Party and FINNS Garden Party to FINNS Grey Goose Party and FINNS VIP Party, with pools, swim-up bars, private cabanas, dance floors and restaurants spread across the site. Resident DJs and live singers keep an all-day party going every day, and the club also hosts private events, birthdays and corporate groups.

The Shady Pig

The Shady Pig

Bars · Berawa

The Shady Pig is a speakeasy on Jalan Pantai Berawa and the original bar of The Shady Family, the group behind The Shady Fox, The Shady Flamingo and The Shady Bunny. The theme is 1920s Birmingham bootleggers: the bar hides behind an unmarked door, and you need the password to get in. Cocktails lean experimental, using distillation, barrel ageing and fermentation, from the Shelby to a barrel-aged Negroni. Small plates, pinchos and sandwiches come with the drinks, and DJs take over later in the night.

Moi

Moi

Restaurants · Berawa

MOI Canggu is a Mediterranean restaurant on Jalan Pantai Berawa, inspired by the Aegean and by Bodrum, home of its sister address MOI Bodrum. The kitchen works with fire and Mediterranean flavours, for dinners meant to be lingered over, and the cocktails draw on sun-warmed botanicals. After sunset the mood shifts and the evening turns into a party. Themed nights include Monday Society and Bazaar MOI, an Eastern Mediterranean dinner spectacle with dancers and costumes.

The Canggu nightlife guide shows how an evening actually runs there.

Side by side

  • Sunset. Uluwatu watches it from the cliffs; Canggu from the beach clubs on the sand.
  • The club night. Uluwatu has Savaya; Canggu has Desa Kitsuné's garden. For the two clubs head to head, see Savaya vs Desa Kitsuné.
  • Weeknights. Savaya's Monday Last Light on one side, Desa Kitsuné's Tuesday garden party on the other.
  • Without a club. Canggu has more bars and late restaurants close together; Uluwatu's quieter nights are a sunset dinner at the cliff edge.

Rules that apply at both

Savaya and Desa Kitsuné follow the same principles. Each guestlist is the venue's own: you register individually on the night's page and receive a digital ticket by email. Joining is free; entry is complimentary before the cutoff shown on that page and reduced after, with an earlier cutoff for men at Desa Kitsuné. Registration does not guarantee complimentary entry, and mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred. Some nights are ticketed only. Both are 21+ with photo ID.

A table is the only reserved space, with a minimum spend the venue sets per night. FirstBali books it with the venue and it is yours once the venue confirms it.

A third option: Zumana

If you cannot decide, Zumana sits between the two at Sunset Bay in Kuta: a Savaya Group beach club with Ritual of the Sun on Saturdays and Zumana Sunday.

Where to stay

Base yourself where you will spend most nights, and use a driver for the others: the roads between the Bukit and Canggu fill up, especially around sunset. Uluwatu villas and Canggu villas cover both options, and FirstBali arranges a car with a driver through transport.

How FirstBali helps

Tell the concierge your dates and the nights you care about. An assistant answers at any hour and the team works through the Bali day and evening; it checks what can be arranged at Savaya, Desa Kitsuné or Zumana, and confirms only once the venue has.
