Savaya dress code: what to wear, age limit and door rules
Savaya's dress code is smart casual: no denim, no beer-branded singlets, no cut-offs, no sportswear; swimwear in the pools only. Strictly 21+ with photo ID.

Savaya's dress code is smart casual. In the venue's own words: "A visit to Savaya Bali is an occasion, so please dress for it." Work jeans or denim, beer-branded singlets, cut-off clothing and athletic sportswear are not permitted, and swimwear belongs in the pools. Entry is strictly 21+ with a valid photo ID, and every bag is inspected at the door.
The dress code in one line
Smart casual, taken seriously. Savaya is a clifftop club in Uluwatu, set "100 metres above the Indian Ocean", and it has been named the number-one club in Asia three years running (2024–2026). The door treats the night as an occasion and expects you to as well.
Not permitted at the door
Savaya publishes the list itself:
- Work jeans or denim. The rule names both, so leave every pair of jeans behind, not just the worn ones.
- Beer-branded singlets.
- Cut-off clothing.
- Athletic sportswear.
Swimwear is a separate rule: proper swimwear is for the pools, not for the rest of the club.
So what should you wear?
The safest outfit is the smart end of casual, the kind of thing you would wear to a good dinner out:
- Trousers, a skirt or a dress that are not denim. Linen, cotton or anything tailored fits the brief.
- A shirt or a clean, fitted top. Nothing with a beer logo, nothing with the sleeves or hem cut off.
- Nothing that reads as gym or beach kit. Athletic sportswear is on the refused list, and swimwear stays in the pool.
- Smart shoes. Savaya publishes no shoe rule, and we will not invent one for it. Smart casual is the standard, and flip-flops — refused outright at Zumana and Desa Kitsuné — are the pair most likely to fail it.
- Proper swimwear, if you plan to use the pools. Keep it for the pool.
If you are unsure about one piece, leave it at home: management can refuse entry, and the door decides on the night.
Shorts, sandals and the grey areas
People ask about specific items, so here is exactly what the published rules do and do not say.
- Shorts. Shorts are not named as such. Cut-off clothing and athletic sportswear are, so cut-off shorts and gym shorts are out, and denim shorts are out twice over. The rules say nothing about other shorts; smart casual is the standard the door applies.
- Sandals and flip-flops. Neither is named in Savaya's published rules. The door applies smart casual, and the group's other two venues refuse flip-flops, so a smarter pair is the safe choice.
- Denim jackets, denim skirts. Denim is denim: not permitted.
- Swimwear. In the pools, yes. Elsewhere in the club, no.
Age limit and ID
Savaya is strictly 21+. Bring a valid photo ID: a passport or a driver's licence. There is no exception for children; the venue is adults only. Age rules across the island are compared in the Bali clubs age limit guide.
Bags and prohibited items
Bags are inspected at the entrance. The following are not allowed in:
- illegal drugs;
- outside food or drink, candy and gum;
- toys, props and inflatables;
- tripods, drones and professional cameras;
- sharp objects;
- big suitcases.
Savaya has lockers, but luggage storage is limited. If you are moving between hotels on the day, drop your bags first.
What to bring
- Valid photo ID, even if you are clearly over 21.
- A cashless way to pay. Savaya is a cashless venue; do not count on paying in cash.
- Your digital ticket or guestlist email, if you registered. How the list works is in the Savaya guestlist guide.
The other door rules
- Intoxicated guests are refused. Arriving drunk is the quickest way not to get in, whatever you are wearing.
- No re-entry without a table. Re-entry is only permitted when a table reservation has been purchased; speak to a Guest Relation Officer before you leave. The trade-off is set out in ticket, guestlist or table at Savaya.
- The door has the last word. Management can refuse entry at any time, list or no list.
Same group, slightly different rules
Zumana, in Kuta, applies almost the same list, and Desa Kitsuné, in Canggu, is stricter on shoes and accessories. See the Zumana dress code and the Desa Kitsuné dress code before a night there.
Where FirstBali fits
FirstBali sends you the link to the night's guestlist page and books tables with Savaya on your behalf; a table is yours once the venue has confirmed it. For anything about the door on a given night, ask the concierge, on the site or on WhatsApp.
