Zumana's dress code is smart casual — "upscale beach chic", in the words of its ticket pages. Work jeans or denim, beer-branded singlets, cut-off clothing, athletic sportswear and flip-flops are refused, and swimwear is for the pools only. Zumana is adults only: 21 and over, with a passport or driver's licence, and every bag is checked on the way in.

Smart casual, beach chic

Zumana is a beach club at Sunset Bay in Kuta, "a Savaya Group Property", designed by Rockwell Group, with beachfront daybeds, poolside spaces, bars and an open-air dance floor. It is a beach club, but the venue is explicit that it is not a casual one: "A visit to Zumana Beach Club is an occasion, so please dress for it."

The house line is smart casual, and the ticket pages describe the look as upscale beach chic — dressed for the beach, not dressed for the gym or the surf.

What is not permitted

From the venue's dress code and its ticket pages:

  • work jeans or denim — any denim, not only the work kind;
  • beer-branded singlets;
  • cut-off clothing;
  • athletic sportswear;
  • flip-flops;
  • swimwear outside the pools — proper swimwear is expected in the pools, and only there.

The swimwear rule is the one that surprises people at a beach club. You can swim, but the bar, the dance floor and the restaurant are not the pool deck: arrive dressed, and change if you plan to swim.

What to wear, in practice

None of this is a venue rule; it is simply a way to stay well inside the rules above.

  • Base: light, well-cut pieces — a linen shirt, a dress, tailored shorts that are not cut-offs.
  • Trousers: anything but denim. Chinos or linen trousers do the job.
  • Shoes: flip-flops are refused, so plan shoes that are not flip-flops. The published lists name flip-flops rather than sandals in general, but if you are torn between a casual pair and a smarter one, take the smarter one.
  • Swimwear: in your bag, for the pools; not as your outfit.
  • Logos: no gym kit, no football shirts, no singlet with a beer brand on it.

If you are going on to Savaya, the same outfit works there: the two venues publish the same list of refusals. Desa Kitsuné is stricter on shoes and accessories — see the Desa Kitsuné dress code.

Age and ID

Zumana is adults only, 21 and over, and asks for valid photo ID — a passport or a driver's licence. Bring the original. For the age rule across the island, see Bali clubs and the age limit.

Bag checks and prohibited items

Bags are inspected at the entrance, and Zumana also uses metal detectors and body checks. The following are not allowed in:

  • illegal drugs;
  • outside food or drink;
  • candy and gum;
  • toys, props and inflatables;
  • tripods and drones;
  • professional cameras;
  • sharp objects.

Travel light: what is on the list stays outside.

Getting there

Zumana is on Jl. Kartika Plaza, on the beachfront at Sunset Bay in Kuta. The venue's own directions are:

  • By car or motorbike: the closest parking is at Discovery Mall. Park there, then walk to the beachfront.
  • By Grab or Gojek: set the drop-off across the street from Waterbom Bali, then continue on foot past Zazzy's Pizzeria to the entrance.

If you would rather not deal with parking or the ride home, a car with a driver can be requested from the transport page, which also covers the other ways of getting around.

The door has the last word

Dress code, ID and bag check are the parts you control. Entry itself is the venue's call: management can refuse entry, cap capacity or close an event, and a guestlist registration is not a promise of free entry. How the free list works — the afternoon window on regular days, the headliner nights that are ticketed only — is in the Zumana guestlist guide, and what is on each night is in Zumana's weekly nights.

For a reserved daybed or table rather than standing entry, tell the concierge your date and group size: FirstBali books with the venue, and the table is yours once Zumana has confirmed it. The minimum spend is set by the venue for each night.
