Savaya Sunday: People of the Sun and the sunset set

Sundays at Savaya run from the afternoon with DJs building up to an international main act, and some are billed People of the Sun, a sunset set over the Indian Ocean. Terms vary per Sunday.

A Sunday at Savaya is a long day rather than a late night: the club in Uluwatu opens in the afternoon, various DJs play through the day, and the evening builds to a main act, usually an international headliner. Some Sundays are billed as People of the Sun, a sunset set over the Indian Ocean. Each Sunday sets its own terms — guestlist, ticket only, or table — and its page on the calendar shows which.

What Sunday at Savaya is

Savaya is open daily, and its weekends mostly bring international headliners. Sunday has its own shape. The venue's Sunday pages describe an event that starts in the afternoon and "will feature various DJ's throughout the day leading up to the main act." In other words, you can arrive for the light, stay for the build, and be on the deck when the headliner plays.

The setting does the rest: a clifftop club in Pecatu, "100 metres above the Indian Ocean", with pools and The Cube, the landmark that frames the horizon.

People of the Sun: the sunset sets

On Savaya's calendar, several Sundays are billed "People of the Sun (Sunset Set)". The event pages put it simply: "As the sun descends into the Indian Ocean," the guest artist "takes over for the sunset set."

What that means for planning:

  • The sunset is the moment. If you want to be there for it, arrive early in the day rather than at nightfall.
  • Not every Sunday is People of the Sun. Others carry a headliner billed differently, and the occasional special one-off. The calendar above names each Sunday.
  • Sunset tickets exist on some Sundays. The venue has sold a sunset ticket that only guarantees entry before a time stated on the night's page; after it, a different ticket applies. Read the page for the Sunday you want.

For the Monday sunset ritual built around The Cube, see Savaya Last Light.

Guestlist, ticket or table on a Sunday

There is no Sunday rule; the terms are set date by date.

  • A guestlist, when the Sunday has one, is free to join. It gives complimentary entry before the cutoff on that Sunday's page and a reduced entry fee after it. Each guest registers individually, for each event, and receives a digital ticket by email. Registration does not guarantee entry.
  • Ticket only. Some Sunday pages state that "capacity is strictly limited to table reservations & ticket holder only." Official tickets are sold only through Savaya's own channel; tickets bought elsewhere are refused at the door.
  • A table is the only reserved space and the only way to be allowed re-entry. Savaya sets a minimum spend per area for each Sunday; we do not quote it. FirstBali books the table with the venue, and it is yours once Savaya confirms it.

On a long Sunday, the table's re-entry rule matters more than on other nights: without one, leaving means staying out. How the three options compare is in ticket, guestlist or table at Savaya, and the registration form is walked through in the Savaya guestlist.

The door on a Sunday

Strictly 21+, with a valid photo ID: a passport or a driver's licence. Smart casual; work jeans or denim, beer-branded singlets, cut-off clothing and athletic sportswear are not permitted, and swimwear is for the pools only. Bags are inspected, and Savaya is cashless. Mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred, in the venue's words.

Sunday night logistics

A Sunday at Savaya ends late, on the Bukit peninsula, at the southern end of the island, at the start of the working week. Three things make it easy:

  1. Book the ride home before you leave. A car with a driver that waits for you means nobody negotiates a lift at the exit. Request one from transport or read the private driver guide.
  2. Plan Monday. Keep the morning free: no early flight, no early tour. If you fly out on Monday, tell us your flight when you book the car.
  3. Eat. A day that starts in the afternoon and runs into the night is long; a table includes food and beverage credit within the minimum spend, and without one, plan your meals around the day.

Staying in Uluwatu for the night removes the ride entirely; villas can be requested through FirstBali.

Sunday, then Monday

If one sunset is not enough, Savaya's Monday is Last Light, its weekly sunset event from The Cube. A Sunday and a Monday together make a two-sunset stay on the cliff. For Friday and Saturday, and how often headline weekends are ticketed only, see the Savaya weekend.

The coming Sundays

Find the Sunday you want, open its page, and check its buttons: Guestlist, Table, or both.

FirstBali sends you the link to the right Sunday's guestlist page, tells you when a Sunday is ticketed only, books tables with Savaya on your behalf and arranges the driver. Write to the concierge, on the site or on WhatsApp; an assistant replies at any hour, and our team follows up during the day.
