White Rock vs Finns: which Bali beach club to book

White Rock or Finns? A beach club on Melasti that welcomes families, or Canggu's adults-only all-day party. An honest comparison: who it suits, seats, rules and where each one fits in your stay.

White Rock and Finns are both big, all-day beach clubs with pools, daybeds and DJs every day — but they answer different questions. White Rock is on the sand at Melasti Beach in Ungasan, in the far south, and it welcomes children, with a kids' pool and a kids' menu. Finns is on the beachfront at Berawa in Canggu, adults-only, and runs an all-day party across several zones. Families and southern stays point to White Rock; a group of adults staying in Canggu points to Finns.

The short answer

  • Travelling with children: White Rock. Finns is adults-only.
  • Staying in Canggu, Berawa or Seminyak: Finns is on your side of the island.
  • Staying in Uluwatu, Jimbaran or Nusa Dua: White Rock is on yours.
  • Want a private, air-conditioned room with the view: White Rock's party suites.
  • Want to walk in for a drink without booking: Finns, which has free social areas and bars.
  • A weekend with foam: White Rock runs foam parties at weekends.

The setting

White Rock sits on Melasti Beach, at the end of the cliff on the Bukit peninsula. Unlike the Uluwatu clubs that look down from the limestone, it is beside the water: daybeds, sofas and cabanas around a lagoon pool and a rock pool. White Rock bills itself as the best beachfront club in Bali.

Finns stretches along the beachfront at Berawa under a bamboo structure designed by PBM Architecture. It is divided into several party zones — among them FINNS Beach Party, FINNS Garden Party and FINNS VIP Party — with pools, swim-up bars, private cabanas, dance floors and restaurants spread across the site. Finns calls itself the world's best beach club.

Who it suits

White Rock is the family answer. Children are welcome with a parent or guardian at all times; the main pool is for adults under the club's own rules, and there is a separate kids' pool. There is also a spa, for a slower day, and a large covered restaurant serving local and international dishes. Alcohol is served from twenty-one.

Finns is an adults-only party: resident DJs and live singers keep an all-day party going every day, from the afternoon through the sunset into the evening. It suits a group of friends, a birthday, a hen or stag day — see adults-only beach clubs.

The seats

At White Rock: lagoon beds and sofas; double beds, single beds and single sofas; party beds and the VIP cabana for a bigger group; spa daybeds; and the enclosed, air-conditioned party suites overlooking the pool and the ocean. A per-guest amenity package — welcome drink, towels and use of the facilities — counts towards the seat's minimum.

At Finns: daybeds facing the water, private cabanas for a bigger group with more space and service, and the free bars for those who just want to turn up.

At both, the venue sets the minimum spend for the seat, the day and the season. FirstBali asks for your date and passes on the confirmed amount; nothing is quoted before that, and a deposit, if asked, follows the venue's terms and is not a confirmation.

The rules worth knowing

White Rock publishes its terms: bring the booking confirmation and a valid photo ID in the booking name; no outside food or drink, with bags checked; one date change under conditions, but not for a booking made the day before or on the day; no pets, helium balloons, drones, tripods, selfie sticks or professional cameras; decorations only with management's approval.

Finns is adults-only: bring a photo ID. For what to wear at either, read the beach club dress code.

When to book

White Rock itself recommends booking a couple of days ahead for the best spot; book earlier for weekends, high season and New Year's Eve. At Finns, the sunset daybeds nearest the sea go first, at weekends and in high season especially. If you are flexible on the day, say so — each venue answers on availability and you choose.

Where each fits in your stay

White Rock fits a day in the south: the morning on Melasti, the evening at Savaya on the Uluwatu cliffs. Finns fits a Canggu stay, and the Canggu night continues at Desa Kitsuné on its garden-party nights. The partner nights, if you want to plan the evening too:
