Bali beach club dress code: swimwear rules, club by club

Swimwear at the pool, dressed at the restaurant and the bar: what each Bali beach club actually publishes, from White Rock and El Kabron to Zumana and Finns, and what to pack for a day that ends late.

Updated October 21, 2026 · 4 min read

At a Bali beach club, swimwear belongs at the pool and on the sunbeds; the restaurant, the bar and the dance floor expect you dressed. White Rock and El Kabron write it down, Zumana keeps swimwear to its pools, and the clubs that publish rules all refuse branded drinking gear and sportswear. Below, each venue's own words, then our advice, marked as such.

The rule every club shares

The pattern is the same everywhere we looked: swim where the water is, dress where the food is. A beach club is a restaurant and a bar as much as a pool, and the code changes between the two. Bring a change of clothes and something to cover up with, and the day can run into the evening without a trip back to the villa.

Club by club, in their own words

White Rock Beach Club (Melasti Beach, Ungasan): "Appropriate swimsuits and beachwear are required for all pools, wet areas, and the beach club premises." Underwear "is strictly prohibited". Inside the restaurant, "Swimsuits, towels, and wet clothing are not permitted"; changing rooms and lockers are on site for the switch.

El Kabron (Uluwatu) sets the code by area. In the Hedonism Lounge, its pool area, "Beachwear, Resort Wear, Smart Casual, or Elegant Attire is welcome." In the restaurant and the Sunset Theater, smart casual, resort wear or elegant attire is required, swimwear is not allowed, and men must wear a shirt or cover-up. Anywhere on site it refuses T-shirts or singlets with beverage logos, athletic wear, wedding dresses, uniforms, excessively revealing clothing, matching outfits with corporate or branded logos, and themed costumes, and the venue may refuse other outfits it judges out of place.

Zumana (Sunset Bay, Kuta) asks for smart casual, "upscale beach chic" in its own words. Not permitted: work jeans or denim, beer-branded singlets, cut-off clothing, athletic sportswear and flip-flops; swimwear in the pools only. It is 21+ with photo ID.

Finns Beach Club (Berawa) is adults only and enforces "a very strict no face and head tattoos policy": "There are no exceptions to this rule." Its site shows a diagram of the areas concerned.

Reef Beach Club, at The Apurva Kempinski in Nusa Dua, is listed by the hotel with a one-word dress code: "Casual."

Le Bleu (Nusa Dua Beach) publishes no dress code on its site; it lists changing rooms with showers and beach towels among its facilities.

Atlas Beach Club (Berawa): we found no dress code on its own site. The concierge can ask the venue for your date rather than guess.

White Rock Beach Club

White Rock Beach Club

Beach clubs · Uluwatu

White Rock Beach Club sits on Melasti Beach in Ungasan, near Uluwatu, at the end of the cliff. Guests settle on daybeds, sofas or cabanas around a lagoon pool and a rock pool; families have a kids' pool and a kids' menu. There is a spa, a large covered restaurant serving local and international dishes, and enclosed, air-conditioned party suites overlooking the pool and the ocean. Resident DJs play every day, and foam parties run at weekends. The club also hosts weddings and events.

El Kabron

El Kabron

Beach clubs · Uluwatu

El Kabron stands on the limestone cliffs of Pecatu in Uluwatu, above the Indian Ocean, and has been open since 2011. It has three parts: the Hedonism Lounge, an adults-only infinity-pool area with daybeds and sofas; the Sunset Theater at the cliff edge, set up for sunset dinners; and a Mediterranean restaurant serving seafood, oysters, paella and steak. Its sunset parties bring DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet, with the White Sunset Party, the Afro House Sunset Party and pool parties among the weekly regulars.

Finns Beach Club

Finns Beach Club

Beach clubs · Berawa

FINNS Beach Club stretches along the beachfront at Berawa, in Canggu, under a bamboo structure designed by PBM Architecture. It is adults-only and divided into several party zones, from FINNS Beach Party and FINNS Garden Party to FINNS Grey Goose Party and FINNS VIP Party, with pools, swim-up bars, private cabanas, dance floors and restaurants spread across the site. Resident DJs and live singers keep an all-day party going every day, and the club also hosts private events, birthdays and corporate groups.

Le Bleu

Le Bleu

Beach clubs · Nusa Dua

Le Bleu by K Club is a beachfront restaurant and beach club on Nusa Dua Beach, in the ITDC resort area, run by the K-Club Group. The look is French Riviera by way of Bali, all blue and white, with sunbeds, cabanas, terraces and an indoor dining room. The kitchen leans on seafood, from lobster linguine to yellowfin tuna tataki, with vegetarian and vegan options. The weekly programme mixes yoga, cocktail workshops, beach games and festive Sunday gatherings with a DJ.

And if the day ends at Savaya

Savaya is a clifftop club with pools, not a beach club, but people often head there straight from the sand. Its rules: smart casual, no work jeans or denim, no beer-branded singlets, no cut-off clothing or athletic sportswear, and swimwear for the pools only. It is strictly 21+ with a passport or driver's licence. The detail lives in the Savaya dress code.

What to pack (our advice)

This part is advice, not any venue's rule.

  1. Swimwear you are happy to be seen in, worn under or packed: White Rock wants proper swimwear on its premises, not underwear.
  2. A cover-up or a shirt. El Kabron requires a shirt or cover-up for men in its restaurant; it is the simplest way to move from pool to table anywhere.
  3. A dry change for the evening. Restaurants refuse wet clothing at White Rock; a club after the beach will want smart casual, and at Zumana no denim and no flip-flops.
  4. No branded drinking gear, no football shirts, no matching group T-shirts. El Kabron names all of these.
  5. Shoes you can walk in on sand, stone and stairs, plus a smarter pair if the night continues.
  6. The original ID, not a photo, for any venue that checks age.

Groups, hens and birthdays

Groups are where dress codes bite. El Kabron refuses themed costumes and matching outfits with branded logos; sashes and props are best checked with the venue first. If you are planning a celebration, tell the concierge what the group intends to wear, and FirstBali checks with the venue before the day rather than at the door. For a full plan, see the hen party guide or the birthday guide.

The door has the last word

Every venue keeps the right to refuse entry, and neither a reserved daybed nor a table overrides the dress code. A booking made through FirstBali is confirmed only once the venue confirms it, and the code that applies is the venue's on the day. An assistant answers at any hour, and the team through the Bali day and evening.
