Bali Thursday night: where to go before the weekend

On a Thursday night in Bali, Zumana in Kuta runs its rotating Thursday, with Made in Kuta once a month, and Savaya opens on the Uluwatu cliff. In Seminyak, dinner can end in a club. How to plan it.

Thursday is the night before the weekend in Bali, and the one that changes most from week to week. Zumana, the Savaya Group beach club on Sunset Bay in Kuta, runs a rotating Thursday, and once a month it is Made in Kuta, its celebration of the neighbourhood. Savaya on the Uluwatu clifftop runs one of its weekday nights. Desa Kitsuné's next garden party is on Friday. Check which Thursday you are looking at on the calendar, then plan around it.

Why Thursday needs a closer look

Most nights in Bali's partner venues follow a fixed pattern: Last Light on Monday, the garden at Desa Kitsuné on Tuesday and Friday, Ritual of the Sun at Zumana on Saturday. Thursday at Zumana is a rotation instead, so the name of the night, its music and its terms depend on the date. That is not a reason to skip it, only a reason to open the night's page rather than assume.

Zumana on a Thursday, Kuta

The rotation is part of Zumana's week, alongside Zumana Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, headliners on Wednesdays and Fridays, and Ritual of the Sun on Saturdays. Zumana's weekly nights lays out how the Thursday nights alternate.

Made in Kuta, once a month

In the venue's words, Made in Kuta is "Zumana's signature monthly Thursday celebration, inspired by the spirit of Kuta. Bringing together local talent, music, food, and culture." If you want a Thursday rooted in the place rather than a visiting line-up, this is the one to look for. Zumana Made in Kuta covers it.

Whatever the rotation, the setting stays: beachfront daybeds, poolside spaces, bars and an open-air dance floor designed by Rockwell Group, ZENÍA at the centre, and Manuza for dinner, which keeps the whole evening in one place.

Savaya on a Thursday, Uluwatu

Savaya, the clifftop club in Pecatu that DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs named number one in Asia from 2024 to 2026, is open daily. Thursday is one of its weekday nights, before the international headliners of the weekend. If you are staying on the Bukit, it is a way to see the cliff and The Cube without a weekend crowd; the night's page says what is on. Savaya on a weekday has more.

Dinner that turns into a night, Seminyak and Berawa

Without a club on the plan, the catalogue has Thursday evenings that run late on their own:

  • Sardine and Les Toilettes, Seminyak. K-Club Group's seafood restaurant in an open-air bamboo building over the rice paddies, with Les Toilettes, the group's club, at the same address on Jalan Petitenget: dinner and a late night in one place.
  • Jade by Todd English, Berawa. A daily DJ, so music comes with dinner.
  • The Shady Pig, Berawa. A speakeasy behind an unmarked door, where DJs take over later in the night.
Sardine

Sardine

Restaurants · Seminyak

Sardine by K-Club is a seafood restaurant on Jalan Petitenget in Seminyak, set in an open-air bamboo building that looks over a stretch of rice paddies, with a terrace for lunch or dinner. The kitchen cooks the daily catch (yellowfin tuna, scallops, snapper) in a modern Mediterranean style, with vegetables from its own farms and a vegetarian set menu. Evenings can run late: Les Toilettes, the hidden club on site, hosts DJs, and once a month The Gates of Bali brings fire dancers and aerial acts.

Les Toilettes

Les Toilettes

Clubs · Seminyak

Les Toilettes is the K-Club Group's nightclub on Jalan Petitenget in Seminyak, at the same address as Sardine, the group's seafood restaurant, so dinner and a late night can happen in one place. Now in its 2.0 version, the club draws on club concepts from around the world. Entry is for guests aged 21 and over, at the door's discretion, and the dress code is smart: no flip-flops, sandals or sportswear.

Jade by Todd English

Jade by Todd English

Restaurants · Berawa

Jade by Todd English is a Mediterranean restaurant and bar in Berawa, whose culinary direction draws on American chef Todd English, known for his flagship restaurant Olives. The kitchen works around a wood-fire grill, with a focus on local farms and producers, on a menu designed for sharing among friends. The cocktail bar gives its drinks an Asian touch. Warm lighting and earthy tones set the room, and the mood shifts as the night goes on, with a daily DJ and weekly late-night events.

The Shady Pig

The Shady Pig

Bars · Berawa

The Shady Pig is a speakeasy on Jalan Pantai Berawa and the original bar of The Shady Family, the group behind The Shady Fox, The Shady Flamingo and The Shady Bunny. The theme is 1920s Birmingham bootleggers: the bar hides behind an unmarked door, and you need the password to get in. Cocktails lean experimental, using distillation, barrel ageing and fermentation, from the Shelby to a barrel-aged Negroni. Small plates, pinchos and sandwiches come with the drinks, and DJs take over later in the night.

How to plan the night

  1. Read the Thursday. On the calendar above, open the exact date: the night's name, and a Guestlist button or only a Table button for a ticketed night.
  2. Stay in one area. Kuta, Uluwatu and Seminyak or Berawa are separate parts of the island.
  3. Register yourself. Every guest registers individually on the venue's own list; joining is free, and entry is complimentary before the cutoff shown on the night's page, reduced after it. Registration does not guarantee complimentary entry, and mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred.
  4. A table, if you want one. A table is the only reserved space; the venue sets its minimum spend per night. Re-entry at Savaya and Zumana is only possible with a table.
  5. Book the car with a driver through transport, there and back.

The door

Savaya and Zumana are 21+ with a valid photo ID, a passport or driving licence, and smart casual; Les Toilettes is 21+ at the door's discretion, with no flip-flops, sandals or sportswear. At Savaya the club is cashless, bags are searched, lockers are limited, and no luggage or outside food or drink is allowed. See Bali club dress code.

Thursday into the weekend

Thursday can open a long weekend: Friday brings Desa Kitsuné's garden with Bali-based DJs and a headliner at Zumana. Continue with Bali Friday night, or go back to Bali Wednesday night.

How FirstBali helps
