Van with driver in Bali: minibus and MPVs for groups

For a group in Bali, FirstBali arranges a Toyota Hiace Premio minibus, an Alphard or Innova MPVs, each with a driver: airport, nights out, weddings. Which vehicle, and how to ask.

For a group in Bali, a van with a driver keeps everyone together: one departure, one arrival, and nobody has to stay sober to drive. FirstBali's fleet has a Toyota Hiace Premio minibus for a big group, a Toyota Alphard for a smaller one that wants comfort, and Toyota Innova and other MPVs for families — all with a driver, delivered to your villa or the airport. Tell the concierge how many you are and what the day looks like, and it puts the right vehicle under it.

The vans and MPVs in the fleet

The transport page carries the live list; these are the with-driver vehicles for groups on it today.

For a big group

  • Toyota Hiace Premio — a minibus, with a driver.

For a smaller group, in comfort

  • Toyota Alphard Facelift — the large luxury people-carrier, listed among the limousines, with a driver, on request. The Alphard with driver guide covers it in detail.

For families and small groups

  • Toyota Innova Zenix
  • Toyota Innova Reborn
  • Mitsubishi Xpander
  • Toyota Avanza / Xenia

Each vehicle's page states delivery to your villa or the airport. The photos show the model and colour, not necessarily the exact vehicle: the concierge confirms the vehicle itself before you book. Seat layouts differ from one model to the next, so give the concierge the exact number of passengers and bags rather than choosing from a photo.

One vehicle or two?

The rule is simple: everyone must have a seat. Bali's Governor's circular for foreign tourists, reported by the state news agency ANTARA, asks visitors not to carry more passengers than a vehicle's capacity, and to use road-worthy four-wheel vehicles run by a registered business. If the group and its luggage do not fit one vehicle, the answer is two that travel in convoy — a minibus for the group and an MPV for the bags, or two MPVs — and the concierge proposes the split.

The airport

A group landing together is the classic case for a minibus: everybody and every suitcase in one vehicle, straight to the villa. Send the flight numbers rather than times, so the pick-up follows the planes, and say if the group arrives on different flights. Count the bags as carefully as the people: surf boards, golf bags and pushchairs change the vehicle.

On Nyepi, the Balinese New Year, the British government notes that Ngurah Rai International Airport is closed for the entire day — see Nyepi in Bali. Landing in Bali walks through the arrival itself.

Nights out

A group night out in Bali usually means a drive: the clubs worth the trip are rarely next to the villa. Savaya sits on the cliffs of Pecatu in Uluwatu; Zumana is a beach club at Sunset Bay in Kuta; Desa Kitsuné is in the heart of Canggu, with its garden parties every Tuesday and Friday. All three are 21+, so check everyone's age before the van leaves — see the age rules.

White Rock Beach Club

White Rock Beach Club

Beach clubs · Uluwatu

White Rock Beach Club sits on Melasti Beach in Ungasan, near Uluwatu, at the end of the cliff. Guests settle on daybeds, sofas or cabanas around a lagoon pool and a rock pool; families have a kids' pool and a kids' menu. There is a spa, a large covered restaurant serving local and international dishes, and enclosed, air-conditioned party suites overlooking the pool and the ocean. Resident DJs play every day, and foam parties run at weekends. The club also hosts weddings and events.

Book the return with the way out. A driver who waits means the group leaves together, and nobody negotiates a ride at the end of the night. The British government's travel advice for Indonesia adds a reason of its own: foreigners involved in even minor traffic incidents may be vulnerable to extortion, and it suggests considering a private driver or a car with a driver. And the Governor's circular forbids driving under the influence of alcohol — another reason the group's driver should be a professional.

Weddings and celebrations

At a wedding, the van is what moves the guests while the couple's car moves the couple. White Rock Beach Club, on Melasti Beach near Uluwatu, is one of the beach clubs that host weddings and events. The usual plan:

  • A minibus for guests between the hotel or villa, the ceremony and the reception.
  • An Alphard for parents or the wedding party.
  • A limousine for the couple — see limousine service in Bali.

For a bachelor or hen weekend, a group dinner or a birthday, the same logic applies: one vehicle, one plan. See the bachelor party guide and group dinners in Bali.

A day across the island

A van with a driver for the whole day is how a group sees Bali without splitting up: the driver collects you at the villa, waits at each stop and drives you home. Set the plan in advance — a temple, lunch, a beach club, dinner — and adjust it as the day goes. Getting around Bali compares the other ways to move.

What to tell the concierge

  • The date, and whether it is one trip, an evening or a full day.
  • The exact number of passengers, including children, and the number of bags.
  • The pick-up place, and the flight numbers for the airport.
  • The plan: the stops, the venue, and whether the driver waits.
  • Children, so any child seat can be asked for.

The concierge checks the vehicle and the driver for your date and comes back with the amount; you decide. The vehicle is yours once it has been confirmed.

Questions we get asked

+Can I hire a van with a driver in Bali?

Yes. FirstBali's fleet has a Toyota Hiace Premio minibus with a driver, delivered to your villa or the airport. Tell the concierge the date, the number of passengers and bags, and the plan.

+What is the best vehicle for a group in Bali?

A minibus such as the Toyota Hiace Premio for a big group, an Alphard for a smaller group that wants comfort, and an Innova or similar MPV for a family. If the group and its luggage do not fit one vehicle, two travel in convoy.

+Can a minibus pick us up at Bali airport?

Yes. The vehicles are delivered to your villa or the airport. Send the flight numbers and the number of bags so the pick-up follows the planes and the vehicle fits the luggage.

+How much is a van with a driver in Bali?

FirstBali publishes no figure: it depends on the vehicle, the date and the length of the day. The concierge gives you the real amount before you decide.

+Can the driver wait for us during a night out?

Yes, ask for it when you book: a driver who waits means the group leaves together. Book the return with the way out, and remember that Savaya, Zumana and Desa Kitsuné are 21+.

+Can I book wedding transport for guests in Bali?

Yes. A minibus moves the guests, an Alphard the family and a limousine the couple. Give the concierge the date, the venues and the guest count, and it proposes the vehicles.
