Canggu Friday night: Desa Kitsuné, Club 55 and dinner

On a Friday in Canggu, Desa Kitsuné's garden party brings Bali-based DJs, Giselle's Club 55 takes over after dinner and Zai Cafe has a DJ. How to put the evening together.

A Friday in Canggu gives you three ways to spend the evening without leaving the area. Desa Kitsuné turns its Garden into the party with Bali-based DJs, rain or shine; at Giselle, Club 55 takes over after dinner; and Zai Cafe has a DJ on Fridays. Pick the one that matches your group, read the night's terms on the events page, and ask the concierge for a table or a dinner booking.

Friday at Desa Kitsuné

Desa Kitsuné is a lifestyle village in the heart of Canggu, created by the Savaya Group with the French-Japanese brand Maison Kitsuné. Its two regular party nights are Tuesday, with guest DJs, and Friday, with Bali-based DJs: Friday is the night of the island's own scene, in the Garden, rain or shine. Parties are 21+ with a valid photo ID, passport or driver's licence, and smart casual. Café Kitsuné, the Ina Ré restaurant and a Maison Kitsuné boutique share the grounds; the pool there is decorative only, so the night belongs to the garden. Tuesday or Friday at Desa Kitsuné compares the two nights.

Guestlist and tables

Many nights have a guestlist run by the venue: each guest registers individually on the night's page, linked from the flyer's Guestlist button, and gets a digital ticket by email. Joining is free; entry is complimentary before the cutoff shown there, reduced after, and the cutoff is earlier for men. Registration does not guarantee complimentary entry, management decides, and mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred. Some nights are ticketed only.

A table is the only reserved space. The venue sets its minimum spend per night; the flyer's Table button opens the night's map, and FirstBali books with the venue. The table is yours once the venue confirms it; any deposit follows the venue's terms and is not a confirmation. See booking a table at Desa Kitsuné.

Dinner that becomes the night

If you would rather the evening grew out of a dinner table, two Canggu restaurants name Friday in their own descriptions:

  • Giselle, Jalan Tanah Barak. A Mediterranean restaurant that calls itself "a house for friends, strangers, and stories", with the Riviera as its mood. Seafood leads the menu, from crudos to flambéed fish, with homemade pasta and plates for sharing. On Friday and Saturday nights, Club 55 takes over after dinner.
  • Zai Cafe, Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong. A modern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern restaurant serving from breakfast through dinner; in the evening the menu turns to dishes such as octopus with harissa and orzo. On Fridays a DJ sets the mood.

You can also eat at Ina Ré before the party at Desa Kitsuné: Chilean executive chef Cristian Encina brings together Mediterranean flavours and Latin American street food, with private dining rooms for groups. Dinner before Desa Kitsuné explains how to link the two.

How to choose

  • You want to dance in a garden, with DJs from Bali's own scene: Desa Kitsuné.
  • You want a long dinner that turns into a party at the same address: Giselle and its Club 55.
  • You want a relaxed Friday dinner with music: Zai Cafe.
  • You want dinner and the party on one site: Ina Ré, then the Garden at Desa Kitsuné.

Before the evening

Berawa's beach clubs run every day: Finns Beach Club keeps an all-day party going with resident DJs and live singers, and Atlas Beach Club has DJs at its pool bar through the day. If you start there, plan time to change before a smart casual evening. Canggu from day to night shows how to link the two.

Outside Canggu on a Friday

Friday at Zumana, the Savaya Group beach club at Sunset Bay in Kuta, is a headliner night, and Savaya on the Uluwatu clifftop begins its weekend of international headliners. Bali Friday night compares the island's options; staying in one area keeps the evening simple.

The team checks what can be arranged and comes back with each venue's terms; nothing is confirmed until the venue confirms it. The concierge can also arrange a driver for the night. An assistant answers at any hour, the team through the Bali day and evening.
