Dinner before Desa Kitsuné: where to eat in Canggu

Where to eat before a Desa Kitsuné party in Canggu: Ina Ré on the same grounds, Giselle's Riviera seafood, the Regent's Sazón and CURE, or Zai Cafe. Dinner never includes entry.

Before a Tuesday or Friday party at Desa Kitsuné, the obvious dinner is Ina Ré, the restaurant on the same grounds. If you would rather eat elsewhere in Canggu first, three catalogue venues stand out: Giselle for Riviera-style seafood, the Regent Bali Canggu for Sazón or CURE Bali on Batu Bolong, and Zai Cafe for Mediterranean and Middle Eastern plates. Whichever you choose, dinner does not get you into the garden: book that separately.

Ina Ré, on the grounds

Ina Ré is Desa Kitsuné's own restaurant: Mediterranean flavours and Latin American street food from Chilean executive chef Cristian Encina, with private dining rooms for groups. On party nights it admits guests aged 18 and over only. Dining there means one address for the whole evening. How dinner leads into the garden — the age rules, the set menu, the cutoff to watch — is set out step by step in Desa Kitsuné dinner and party, and the menu in the Ina Ré guide.

Giselle: Riviera seafood

Giselle is a Mediterranean restaurant on Jalan Tanah Barak in Canggu, created by a group of friends who call it "a house for friends, strangers, and stories". The mood is the Riviera brought to Bali, across a dining room and a courtyard. Seafood leads: crudos, a seafood platter, sea bream sashimi and flambéed fish, with homemade pasta and plates for sharing. One thing to know on a Friday: Giselle has its own after-dinner party then, Club 55, so the room changes as the night goes on — pleasant, but choose where you want to end the evening. More in the Giselle guide.

Regent Bali Canggu: Sazón or CURE

The Regent Bali Canggu, IHG's beachfront resort on Batu Bolong and the first Regent in Indonesia, has two restaurants led by Chef Andrew Walsh:

  • Sazón, a Mediterranean neighbourhood hideaway.
  • CURE Bali, European cooking shaped by Asian flavours.

For something lighter, The Beach House pairs its pool and the ocean breeze with craft cocktails and seafood. A resort dinner suits a couple or an occasion that wants a calmer start before the garden. See Regent Bali Canggu.

Zai Cafe: an easy dinner on Batu Bolong

Zai Cafe, on Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong, serves modern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food from breakfast through dinner. In the evening the menu turns to dishes such as octopus with harissa and orzo, or grilled prawns with a passion fruit sauce, and dips like hummus and babaganoush suit a group sharing. On Fridays a DJ sets the mood. More in the Zai Cafe guide.

What to plan around

  • Entry is separate. For the garden you need your own registration on the night's guestlist, a ticket on ticketed-only nights, or a table — the only reserved space, with a minimum spend set by the venue for that night.
  • The cutoff. Registered guests enter free only before the night's cutoff, earlier for men than for women; the times are on the night's page. A long dinner elsewhere can run past it, so a group of men on the list should eat early or book a table.
  • 21+ with photo ID for the party, whatever the restaurant allowed.
  • Dress for both. Desa Kitsuné asks guests to dress to impress and rules out swimwear, sportswear, flip-flops and tank tops: dress for the garden, not the beach.

The guestlist itself is explained in the Desa Kitsuné guestlist guide.

Getting between them

Keep one car with a driver for dinner, the party and home. FirstBali adds it in the same conversation; see getting to Desa Kitsuné, and home.

How to book

Send the concierge the date, how many you are, the restaurant you prefer and how you want to enter the garden. FirstBali books the dinner and any table with each venue on your behalf; each is yours once that venue confirms it. Our assistant replies at any hour; the team picks up through the Bali day and evening.

Questions we get asked

+Where can I eat before Desa Kitsuné?

At Ina Ré, on the same grounds, or elsewhere in Canggu: Giselle for seafood, Sazón or CURE Bali at the Regent, or Zai Cafe on Batu Bolong.

+Does dinner at Ina Ré get me into the party?

No. You need your own guestlist registration, a ticket on ticketed-only nights, or a garden table.

+Will a long dinner make us miss the guestlist?

It can: free entry only applies before the night's cutoff, earlier for men. Eat early, or book a table, which does not depend on the cutoff.

+Can children come to dinner at Ina Ré on a party night?

No: on Tuesday and Friday event days, Ina Ré admits guests aged 18 and over only.

+Can FirstBali book dinner and a Desa Kitsuné table together?

Yes, in one conversation with the concierge. Each is booked with its venue and is yours once that venue confirms it.
