Kuta Saturday night: Ritual of the Sun and how to plan it

A Saturday night in Kuta centres on Zumana's Ritual of the Sun at Sunset Bay: a beach night with a guest artist, dinner at Manuza, and terms on each night's page. Here is how to plan it.

On a Saturday night in Kuta, the fixed point is Zumana. The Savaya Group beach club on Sunset Bay holds Ritual of the Sun every Saturday: a sunset night on the beach, usually with a guest artist, that carries on after dark. Plan the evening around it, dine at Manuza on site if you want one address, and read the night's terms on its page before you go.

Why Saturday in Kuta means Zumana

Zumana's weekly programme is published: Zumana Sunday, Monday and Tuesday every week, headliners on Wednesdays and Fridays, and Ritual of the Sun on Saturdays. So a Saturday in Kuta is not a night you have to guess at. Each Saturday's guest is announced on its own page, and now and then a one-off takes the date instead, which is why the calendar above matters more than any rule. Ritual of the Sun explains the night itself.

The setting

Zumana was designed by Rockwell Group around beachfront daybeds, poolside spaces, bars and an open-air dance floor. Its centrepiece is ZENÍA, "The Eternal Host", a 10-metre sculpture by Daniel Popper made with Balinese artisans from Ubud. On a Saturday, that means the evening moves from the sand and the pool towards the dance floor as the night goes on, without leaving the club.

A Saturday in four steps

  1. Choose how you want to be there. Standing on the guestlist or a ticket, or a reserved table. A table is the only reserved space; its minimum spend is set by the venue per night and, on Zumana's map, "Includes Food & Beverage Credit".
  2. Read the night's page. Each Saturday has its own Guestlist or Table button. A night showing only Table is ticketed only, and official tickets come only through the venue's own channel.
  3. Register yourself. Every guest registers individually on the night's page and receives a digital ticket by email. Joining is free; entry is complimentary before the cutoff shown on that night's page and reduced after it. Registration does not guarantee complimentary entry, and mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred.
  4. Arrange the ride home. Ask for a car through transport rather than improvising at the end of the night.

Dinner on a Saturday

Manuza is Zumana's restaurant, so the simplest Saturday keeps dinner and the party at one address. If you would rather eat first somewhere else, Kuta dinner and club sets out how to combine the two, and Zumana: dinner before covers Manuza in more detail.

The door

Zumana is 21+ with a valid photo ID, a passport or driving licence, and the dress code is smart casual. Re-entry is only possible with a table, so plan to arrive once and stay. The management decides at the door, and no guestlist or ticket promises entry on its own.

If Kuta is just your base

Kuta is only one of Saturday's options. Savaya, on the Uluwatu clifftop, runs its international headliners at weekends, and in Seminyak, Les Toilettes, the K-Club Group's nightclub, shares an address with the Sardine seafood restaurant. Choose one area for the night rather than crossing the island.

Groups on a Saturday

A Saturday fills quickly, and a group does best with a table booked ahead: everyone shares one reserved space and re-entry stays possible. Without one, each guest still registers individually, and mixed groups are preferred at the door. Kuta group night has more on organising it.

How FirstBali helps

Tell the concierge which Saturday, how many you are and whether you want a table. An assistant answers at any hour, the team through the Bali day and evening. We send the night's guestlist link, book the table or dinner with the venue and arrange the car. Nothing is confirmed until the venue has confirmed it, and any deposit follows the venue's terms and is not a confirmation.
