First time at Savaya: what to expect, cliff to night

Expect a club on a cliff, not a beach club. Savaya sits in Pecatu, Uluwatu, 100 metres above the Indian Ocean, with pools, sofas and daybeds, and The Cube framing the horizon. An event day starts in the afternoon, several DJs build towards the main act through sunset and into the night, and the door is strict: 21+ with a valid photo ID, smart casual, bags searched, and a card rather than cash.

The calendar above lists Savaya's coming nights. Each one shows whether it has a guestlist or is ticketed only, and carries a Table button for a reserved space. Start there: the night you choose decides most of the rest.

Arriving on the cliff

Savaya is at the southern tip of Bali, on the Bukit peninsula. The simplest way there is a car with a driver, and the route, the drop-off question and the way home are covered in getting to Savaya. The first thing you meet is the door: ID checked, bags searched, outfits looked at. Past it, the venue opens out to the ocean. In Savaya's own words, it sits "between ancient limestone and dense jungle", and it was built for that view.

The layout, as Savaya describes it

  • The cliff and the ocean. The venue describes itself as "rising nearly 100 meters above the water", on the cliffs of Uluwatu.
  • The Cube. Savaya calls it "Bali's most iconic visual landmark", and it frames the horizon. Mondays are built around it: see Savaya Last Light.
  • The pools. Swimwear is for the pools only, not the rest of the club.
  • Sofas, daybeds, cabanas. The venue's own table maps name the reserved areas: the Lounge, Daybeds, The Cube Sofas, Dance Floor Sofas, DJ Sofas, Main Deck Sofas, Ocean Edge View, Cabanas and Bungalows, and on some nights others, such as The Grand Staircase. Which areas are offered changes from night to night.
  • Standing room. Away from the tables, Savaya's FAQ says general admission seating is limited and first come, first served, and that tickets are "primarily for standing room only".

From afternoon into night

Savaya is open daily, and an event day begins in the afternoon. "Multiple DJ's will perform leading up to the main act," says the venue's FAQ: the music builds through the afternoon, the sunset set plays as the sun drops into the Indian Ocean, and the night carries on after dark.

Some nights are built around that moment. Last Light, every Monday, is billed as a "Sunset Set From the Cube". On Sundays, People of the Sun carries guests, in the venue's words, "from golden hour into the night".

One practical consequence: re-entry is only permitted with a table reservation. On the guestlist or a ticket, you arrive once. Decide whether you are coming for the sunset and staying, or coming for the night.

The crowd and the music

Savaya draws an international crowd: the venue says it welcomes visitors from more than a hundred and twenty countries. It was named the number-one club in Asia three years running (2024–2026) and fifth in the world in DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs 2026, as Savaya reports it.

The music is electronic. The venue's own line-up notes move between house and techno in their many shades: Afro house, melodic house and techno, progressive sounds. The name says where the priority lies: Savaya explains it as Sava, a goddess of sound, joined to aya, great or grand.

The week has a shape. Last Light on Mondays; Savaya Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; Fridays that rotate between Southern Tribe, the Full Moon and guests; international headliners at the weekend. The Savaya weekend guide explains Fridays and Saturdays in detail.

The door

  • Strictly 21+. Bring a current, valid photo ID: a passport or a driver's licence.
  • Smart casual. Work jeans or denim, beer-branded singlets, cut-off clothing and athletic sportswear are refused. The full list is in the Savaya dress code.
  • Bags searched. Outside food and drink, props, inflatables, professional cameras, tripods, drones, sharp objects and big suitcases stay out. What to pack is in what to bring to Savaya.
  • Cashless. Pay by card; cash is accepted only in exceptional circumstances, with prior management approval.
  • The door has the last word. Management can refuse entry, and mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred.

How to plan a first night

  1. Pick the night. Last Light or People of the Sun if the sunset is the point; a weekday for Savaya's own nights; a weekend for international headliners.
  2. Choose the way in. On nights with a guestlist, joining is free: you register yourself on the night's page, with complimentary entry before the cutoff shown there and a reduced fee after. Ticketed-only nights have no list, and only the venue's official channel sells valid tickets. A table is the only reserved space. The trade-offs are set out in ticket, guestlist or table at Savaya.
  3. Arrive once. Without a table there is no re-entry, so have dinner or drinks before, not halfway through.
  4. Book the way home before you leave. A driver who waits or comes back for you is the simplest plan from the Bukit.
  5. Travel light. Lockers are limited and first come, first served, and luggage storage is limited too.

If you want a sunset drink on the Bukit before a later arrival, El Kabron sits on the cliffs of Pecatu and Rock Bar on the rocks at Jimbaran.
