The Cube at Savaya: the landmark, the sunset, the sofas

The Cube is the structure that frames the horizon at Savaya, the clifftop club in Uluwatu. Its sunset sets run on Mondays at Last Light, and The Cube Sofas are bookable areas on the table map.

The Cube is Savaya's landmark: the structure at the clifftop club in Uluwatu that frames the horizon over the Indian Ocean. The venue calls it "Bali's most iconic visual landmark" — Savaya's own description, not an independent ranking. To be there for the sunset, choose a night billed as a sunset set, above all Last Light on Mondays, and for a seat of your own beside it, ask for The Cube Sofas on that night's table map.

What The Cube is

Savaya sits in Pecatu, on the Bukit peninsula, "100 metres above the Indian Ocean", between jungle and limestone cliffs. It is not a beach club: there is no beach, but there are pools, decks and, at the edge of it all, The Cube.

In the venue's words, The Cube "frames that horizon in a way that feels almost too good to be real." It is the image most people have of Savaya before they arrive, and the reason so many evenings there are planned around the light rather than around the line-up.

The Cube and the sunset

Savaya does not leave the sunset to chance. It has built a weekly event around it:

"At Savaya, we've built a ritual around that moment, centred on The Cube, and it's called The Last Light."

On the venue's calendar, Last Light nights are billed as a "Sunset Set From the Cube", and the event pages ask guests to come early enough to see the sunset from The Cube; the night's own page says how early. Monday is Last Light's regular night, and the calendar occasionally lists it on another day. What happens on a Monday, and how its guestlist works, is in Savaya Last Light.

Some Sundays are billed as sunset sets too, under the name People of the Sun. The calendar above shows which nights carry a sunset set, so you can pick one rather than guess.

The Cube Sofas on the table map

For a group that wants to stay near The Cube all evening, the answer is a table. Each Savaya night has its own table map, published by the venue group, and The Cube Sofas are one of the areas it names, alongside others such as the Daybeds, the Dance Floor Sofas and the Main Deck Sofas.

What to know before you ask:

  • The map belongs to the night. Which areas are offered, and which are sold out, changes from one date to the next.
  • The minimum spend is Savaya's. The venue sets it per area and per night; we do not quote it, and FirstBali confirms it with Savaya for your date.
  • A type of sofa, or a specific one. The maps note that guaranteeing one particular sofa, rather than one of that type, carries an additional charge set by the venue. Say so when you ask if it matters to you.
  • Re-entry is only allowed with a table reservation.

How the whole table process works, area by area, is in the Savaya table guide. FirstBali books the table with Savaya on your behalf, and it is yours once the venue has confirmed it.

Seeing The Cube without a table

You do not need a table to see The Cube. On a night with a guestlist, joining is free and gives complimentary entry before the cutoff shown on that night's page, with a reduced entry fee after. On a ticketed-only night, an official ticket from Savaya's own channel is the way in; in Savaya's words, "tickets are primarily for standing room only." Either way, the view is the same horizon; what a table adds is a reserved place to come back to.

How to be there

  1. Pick a sunset night in the calendar: Last Light, or a Sunday billed as People of the Sun.
  2. Open its page to see whether it has a Guestlist button, a Table button, or both, and the terms for that date.
  3. Register yourself if there is a list — each guest, for each event — or ask the concierge for a table, naming The Cube Sofas.
  4. Arrive early. On a sunset set, the sunset is the point, and the guestlist's complimentary window closes at the cutoff on the night's page.
  5. Bring a photo ID. Savaya is strictly 21+, with a passport or driver's licence; smart casual, no denim, no sportswear. See the Savaya dress code.
  6. Plan the ride. Savaya is in Pecatu, at the southern end of the island; getting to Savaya covers the way there and back, and a car with a driver can be requested from transport.

Savaya is a cashless venue, and bags are inspected at the door.
