Ubud nightlife: dinners, weekend DJs and club nights
Ubud nightlife is mostly dinner: riverside tables, and Akar's festive Friday and Saturday nights with DJs and dancers. For a club, Desa Kitsuné, Savaya and Zumana are on the coast.

Ubud's nightlife is mostly dinner. The town is known for culture, galleries and rice terraces, and its evenings centre on long meals in the valley; the one place in our catalogue that turns dinner into a party is Akar, north of Ubud, on Friday and Saturday nights. For a club night, Ubud guests head to the coast: Desa Kitsuné in Canggu, Savaya in Pecatu or Zumana in Kuta.
What Ubud is like after dark
Indonesia's official tourism site describes Ubud as "steeped in culture", with its galleries and museums, from Museum Puri Lukisan to ARMA and the Neka Art Museum, and the Tegalalang rice fields best seen early in the morning. Its suggestion for the evening is a "riverside dinner" followed by a spa. That is the rhythm of the town: early starts, long dinners, and nights that end at the table rather than on a dance floor.
So the useful question is not "where are the clubs in Ubud" but "what kind of evening do I want, and do I want to stay in Ubud for it". Our Ubud guide covers the days and why it is worth sleeping there.
The festive dinner: Akar
Akar, meaning "root", is the steakhouse of K Club in Kedisan, Tegallalang, north of Ubud, set in the greenery of the jungle. It spreads over two floors with two bars and an open kitchen, and grills Australian and Japanese cuts over charcoal, Wagyu included, alongside seafood and a curated wine list. On Friday and Saturday nights dinner turns festive, with live DJs, dancers and a laser show. Akar has won Best Luxury Steakhouse in Indonesia at the World Luxury Restaurant Awards, as the restaurant reports.
It is the Ubud answer to a dinner-and-party evening: you book a table for dinner and the room does the rest. Our Akar guide goes into the menu and the room.
Quiet evenings
Most Ubud nights are calmer. The official tourism page names riverside restaurants for dinner, and a spa afterwards; the town's cultural life runs by day, with the galleries and the market. If you want a night without a club at all, our night without clubs guide has ideas across the island.
When you want a real club night
The three partner clubs are all on the coast:
- Desa Kitsuné in Canggu is a Savaya Group village with the French-Japanese brand Maison Kitsuné, where the Garden becomes the party every Tuesday and Friday, rain or shine: guest DJs on Tuesdays, Bali-based DJs on Fridays.
- Savaya is on the Uluwatu clifftop in Pecatu, with The Cube framing the horizon; DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs named it number one in Asia three years running and fifth in the world, as Savaya reports. Mondays are Last Light, weekends bring headliners, Sundays are People of the Sun.
- Zumana is a Savaya Group beach club at Sunset Bay in Kuta, with Ritual of the Sun on Saturdays, Zumana Sunday and a weeknight rotation including Made in Kuta.

All three are 21+ with a valid photo ID, a passport or a driver's licence. Guestlists are the venues' own: you register for each night on its page, linked from the Guestlist button on the events calendar, and get a digital ticket by email. Joining is free; entry is complimentary before the cutoff shown on the night's page and reduced after (earlier for men at Desa Kitsuné), and registration does not guarantee entry. Some nights are ticketed only.
Two ways to do it from Ubud
- A driver for the night. You dine on the coast, go to the club and come back with a driver who waits. See a driver for a night out and transport.
- Move to the coast for the party nights. Many trips split the stay: Ubud for the culture, then the coast for the nights. Our where to stay guide compares the areas, and Canggu nightlife covers the side of the island nearest Desa Kitsuné.
If you want a reserved space at a club, a table is the only one; its minimum spend is set by the venue per night. FirstBali books it with the venue, and it is yours once the venue confirms. Any deposit follows the venue's terms and is not a confirmation.
How FirstBali helps
Tell the concierge where you are staying in Ubud, which evening you want and how many you are. An assistant answers at any hour, the team through the Bali day and evening, and checks what can be arranged: the Akar table, the club night, the car. Nothing is confirmed until the venue confirms it.
