Bali pre-party: how to start the night before the club

In Bali the best pre-party is often at the venue itself: a sunset at Zumana, Ina Ré before Desa Kitsuné's Garden, Last Light at Savaya. Where to warm up, and how not to miss the cutoff.

Updated October 23, 2026 · 4 min read

The best pre-party in Bali usually happens at the venue itself. The big clubs start in daylight, their guestlists give complimentary entry only before the cutoff shown on the night's page, and they each have a restaurant or a sunset that turns into the party. So instead of drinks somewhere else and a late taxi, the warm-up is the first part of the night: a sunset at Zumana, dinner at Ina Ré before Desa Kitsuné's Garden, Last Light at Savaya on a Monday.

Why the warm-up moves to the venue

Three facts from the clubs' own terms shape the evening:

  • The cutoff. On a guestlist night at Savaya, Zumana or Desa Kitsuné, entry is complimentary before that night's cutoff and reduced after it; at Desa Kitsuné the cutoff is earlier for men. A long pre-party elsewhere is the easiest way to miss it.
  • No coming back. At Savaya and Zumana, re-entry is only possible with a table. Once you are in, you stay in.
  • Nothing from outside. Savaya allows no outside food or drink, and the bags are searched.

The conclusion is simple: arrive early, and let the venue be the pre-party.

Three warm-ups that become the night

Zumana: the sunset first

Zumana, the Savaya Group's beach club at Sunset Bay in Kuta, faces the sea as the sun goes down, with Manuza as its restaurant, beachfront daybeds and an open-air dance floor. The sunset is the warm-up and the dance floor follows, without moving. See Zumana at sunset.

Desa Kitsuné: dinner in the village

Desa Kitsuné, in Canggu, is a village before it is a party: Café Kitsuné, the Ina Ré restaurant and a Maison Kitsuné boutique share the grounds, and every Tuesday and Friday the Garden becomes the party, rain or shine. Dinner at Ina Ré, with Mediterranean flavours and Latin American street food to share, is the natural pre-party: dinner before Desa Kitsuné.

Savaya: Last Light

Every Monday at Savaya is Last Light, a sunset set from The Cube on the Pecatu clifftop. It is a pre-party and a party at once; Savaya Last Light explains how the evening runs.

When you want a stop before the club

Sometimes the night is elsewhere and you want one place on the way. A few in the catalogue lend themselves to it:

  • Rock Bar, AYANA's cliffside bar in Jimbaran, for a sunset drink above the ocean before Savaya or Zumana. It takes card or QR payment only.
  • El Kabron, on the Pecatu cliffs, whose Sunset Theater is set up for sunset dinners with DJs and live musicians.
  • Sardine, in Seminyak, for dinner, with Les Toilettes, the hidden club at the same address, to carry on.
Rock Bar

Rock Bar

Bars · Jimbaran

Rock Bar is AYANA Bali's cliffside bar in Jimbaran, stretching some 270 metres along the rocks above the ocean, with 880 seats spread over 22 areas. Guests reach it by inclinator, watch the sun set over the sea, then stay as the DJs play on. The bar pours cocktails inspired by the colours of the sea alongside Mediterranean tapas built on Jimbaran Bay seafood. Non-resident visitors can reserve; the Round Deck is kept for villa guests and the Top Bar for hotel guests. Payment by card or QR only.

El Kabron

El Kabron

Beach clubs · Uluwatu

El Kabron stands on the limestone cliffs of Pecatu in Uluwatu, above the Indian Ocean, and has been open since 2011. It has three parts: the Hedonism Lounge, an adults-only infinity-pool area with daybeds and sofas; the Sunset Theater at the cliff edge, set up for sunset dinners; and a Mediterranean restaurant serving seafood, oysters, paella and steak. Its sunset parties bring DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet, with the White Sunset Party, the Afro House Sunset Party and pool parties among the weekly regulars.

Sardine

Sardine

Restaurants · Seminyak

Sardine by K-Club is a seafood restaurant on Jalan Petitenget in Seminyak, set in an open-air bamboo building that looks over a stretch of rice paddies, with a terrace for lunch or dinner. The kitchen cooks the daily catch (yellowfin tuna, scallops, snapper) in a modern Mediterranean style, with vegetables from its own farms and a vegetarian set menu. Evenings can run late: Les Toilettes, the hidden club on site, hosts DJs, and once a month The Gates of Bali brings fire dancers and aerial acts.

Keep it to one stop. Every extra leg is time on the road and a driver to organise.

A villa pre-party

For a group, the warm-up is often at the villa: everyone gets ready together, eats, and leaves in one car. A private chef can cook the dinner; FirstBali checks what can be arranged. The rule still applies: leave early enough to be at the door before the cutoff on the night's page, together, as a mixed group if you can, since the venues strongly prefer mixed groups and couples.

Getting ready for the door

Before you leave the warm-up, check what the door will check:

  1. ID. All three clubs are 21+ with a valid passport or driver's licence.
  2. Dress. Smart casual: the club dress code.
  3. Bag. Small; Savaya searches bags and has limited lockers.
  4. Registration. Each guest registers individually for the night, and registration does not guarantee complimentary entry.

The car between legs

A pre-party only works if the moves are planned. A car with a driver who waits between the villa, the dinner and the club, then takes you home, is the simplest answer: FirstBali arranges one through transport. Read a driver for a night out.

How FirstBali helps

Tell the concierge the club, the group and where you want to start. It sends you the night's guestlist page, books a table with the venue if you want a reserved place, and checks what can be arranged for dinner and the car. A table is yours once the venue confirms it. An assistant answers at any hour; the team works through the Bali day and evening.

Questions we get asked

+Can I bring my own drinks to Savaya?

No. Savaya allows no outside food or drink, and bags are searched at the door.

+Why arrive early on a guestlist night?

Entry is complimentary only before the cutoff shown on the night's page, and reduced after; at Desa Kitsuné the cutoff is earlier for men.

+Can I leave Zumana and come back later?

+Can FirstBali organise a villa pre-party?
