Bali Sunday night: where to go out and how to end the weekend

On a Sunday night in Bali, Zumana Sunday carries on in Kuta and Savaya's People of the Sun runs on the Uluwatu cliff. Stay where the afternoon was, dine nearby, and keep Monday in mind.

A Sunday night in Bali grows out of the afternoon. The two fixed points are Zumana Sunday, every week at the Savaya Group beach club on Sunset Bay in Kuta, and Savaya's Sundays on the Uluwatu clifftop, billed People of the Sun. Desa Kitsuné's garden parties are on Tuesdays and Fridays, so Canggu's Sunday night is about dinner and bars instead. Choose one area, stay in it, and plan the night with Monday morning in mind.

Why Sunday night is different

Sunday is the last night of most people's weekend and the first of the week for the island's residents, so it has a gentler shape than Friday or Saturday. The day parties started in daylight; the evening is about how long you stay, where you eat, and how you get home. The daytime part is covered in Bali Sunday funday. This guide picks up as the light goes.

Two Sunday nights to choose from

Zumana Sunday, Kuta

Sunday is one of Zumana's regular days, named after the house itself. The beach club at Sunset Bay was designed by Rockwell Group around beachfront daybeds, poolside spaces, bars and an open-air dance floor, and its centrepiece is ZENÍA, "The Eternal Host", Daniel Popper's sculpture made with Balinese artisans from Ubud. Its restaurant, Manuza, means you can move from the beach to dinner without leaving. Zumana Sunday has the detail.

Savaya Sunday, Uluwatu

Savaya, the clifftop club in Pecatu that DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs named number one in Asia from 2024 to 2026, bills its Sundays People of the Sun. Each Sunday has its own page and its own terms, so check it before you build the evening around it. Savaya Sunday explains how they run.

A quieter Sunday night in Canggu and Berawa

If you are staying in Canggu, there is no Desa Kitsuné party on a Sunday, but the evening still has options in the catalogue:

  • Jade by Todd English, Berawa. A Mediterranean restaurant and bar with a wood-fire grill and a daily DJ, so Sunday dinner has music without being a club night.
  • The Shady Pig, Berawa. A speakeasy themed on Birmingham bootleggers, behind an unmarked door, where DJs take over later in the night.
  • Ina Ré, Canggu. The restaurant of Desa Kitsuné; its Sunday brunch has its own menu, and the village is calm on a non-party day.
Jade by Todd English

Jade by Todd English

Restaurants · Berawa

Jade by Todd English is a Mediterranean restaurant and bar in Berawa, whose culinary direction draws on American chef Todd English, known for his flagship restaurant Olives. The kitchen works around a wood-fire grill, with a focus on local farms and producers, on a menu designed for sharing among friends. The cocktail bar gives its drinks an Asian touch. Warm lighting and earthy tones set the room, and the mood shifts as the night goes on, with a daily DJ and weekly late-night events.

The Shady Pig

The Shady Pig

Bars · Berawa

The Shady Pig is a speakeasy on Jalan Pantai Berawa and the original bar of The Shady Family, the group behind The Shady Fox, The Shady Flamingo and The Shady Bunny. The theme is 1920s Birmingham bootleggers: the bar hides behind an unmarked door, and you need the password to get in. Cocktails lean experimental, using distillation, barrel ageing and fermentation, from the Shelby to a barrel-aged Negroni. Small plates, pinchos and sandwiches come with the drinks, and DJs take over later in the night.

Ina Ré

Ina Ré

Restaurants · Canggu

Ina Ré is the restaurant of Desa Kitsuné, the lifestyle village on Jalan Munduk Catu in Canggu. Chilean executive chef Cristian Encina brings together Mediterranean flavours and Latin American street food: paellas to share, ceviches, tacos, empanadas and wood-fired meats such as the Stockyard tomahawk. The space draws on Balinese arts and crafts, with handmade materials, weavings and traditional motifs, and includes private dining rooms for groups. Sunday brunch has its own menu, and so do Courtyard Saturdays.

Further south, Le Bleu on Nusa Dua Beach holds festive Sunday gatherings with a DJ as part of its weekly programme, an easy Sunday for those staying in the resort area.

How to plan the night

  1. Stay where the afternoon was. Kuta, Uluwatu and Canggu are separate parts of the island. A Sunday that started at Zumana or Savaya is easiest if it ends there too.
  2. Open the night's page. Each date on the calendar above shows its own Guestlist or Table button; a night with only the Table button is ticketed only.
  3. Register yourself. Guestlists are the venues' own: every guest registers individually, joining is free, and entry is complimentary before the cutoff shown on the night's page, reduced after it. Registration does not guarantee complimentary entry, and mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred.
  4. Decide on a table early. A table is the only reserved space, and the venue sets its minimum spend for the night. At Savaya and Zumana, re-entry is only possible with a table, which matters on a day that runs from afternoon into night.
  5. Book the ride home now. FirstBali arranges cars with a driver through transport.

The door

Savaya, Zumana and Desa Kitsuné are all 21+, with a valid photo ID: a passport or driving licence. Dress is smart casual. At Savaya the club is cashless, bags are searched, lockers are limited, and no luggage or outside food or drink is allowed. More in Bali club ID and passport.

And Monday

A Sunday night can lead straight into the week: Monday is Last Light at Savaya, its weekly sunset event around The Cube. If you have a flight on Monday, Bali Monday night and the airport transfer guide help you fit the two together.

How FirstBali helps

Tell the concierge where you are spending Sunday and how many you are. An assistant answers at any hour, the team through the Bali day and evening. We send the night's guestlist link, book a table or dinner with the venue, and arrange the car. Nothing is confirmed until the venue has confirmed it, and any deposit follows the venue's terms and is not a confirmation.
