Passport or copy at Bali clubs? ID rules explained
Bali's big clubs are 21+ and ask for a valid photo ID such as a passport or driver's licence. What Savaya, Zumana and Desa Kitsuné accept, and what official advice says about carrying the original.

Bring a valid, original photo ID. Savaya and Zumana both say a current, valid passport or a valid driver's licence are acceptable forms of ID, and Desa Kitsuné's parties follow the same 21+ rule with a valid photo ID. No venue we checked says a photocopy or a photo on your phone is accepted — and the UK government's travel advice for Indonesia says visitors must always carry their passport or stay permit anyway.
The rule at the door
Bali's large clubs are for guests aged 21 and over, and the door checks it. That is true at the three Savaya Group venues and at Seminyak clubs such as MU:IN and Les Toilettes, where entry is also at the door's discretion. The age is checked against an ID, not a face: looking older does not help if the document is missing. More on the age question in Bali clubs and the age limit.

Original or copy?
The venues name documents, and a copy is not one of them. Since none of them says a photocopy, a scan or a phone photo will do, the only safe plan is the original. Your guestlist registration does not replace it either: the digital ticket you receive by email gets you to the door, the ID gets you through it — and registration on a list does not guarantee complimentary entry in any case.
A valid driver's licence with a photo is named as acceptable by Savaya and Zumana, which some guests prefer to carry at night. Make sure it is current and shows your date of birth clearly.
What official advice says
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office's advice for Indonesia states: "You must always carry your passport or stay permit (such as KITAS or KITAP)." Check your own government's advice for Indonesia before you travel; it is the authority on what you must carry, not a club.
Practical habits that help:
- Keep the passport on you, in a zipped inside pocket or a small bag you never put down.
- Keep a photo of the passport page in your phone and in your email — not for the door, but in case you lose the original.
- Leave nothing in a taxi or on a daybed: the venues' bag rules are covered in bags and lockers at Bali clubs.
- If a passport is lost or stolen, contact your embassy or consulate. In an emergency, call 112.
Groups and birthdays
The ID check applies to everyone in the group, every time. Before a birthday or a hens party, make sure every guest has their own document — one forgotten passport can split a group at the door, and the venue's decision stands. Mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred at all three Savaya Group venues.
How FirstBali helps
FirstBali books tables with the venue on your behalf, sends the night's guestlist link, and arranges a car with a driver there and back. Ask the concierge: an assistant answers at any hour, the team through the Bali day and evening. If you are unsure whether a document will be accepted, we check with the venue — we do not guess.

Questions we get asked
+Do I need my passport to get into Savaya?
You need a current, valid photo ID: Savaya names a valid passport or a valid driver's licence as acceptable. Valid ID is required on entry.
+Is a passport photocopy accepted at Bali clubs?
None of the venues we checked says a copy or a phone photo is accepted; they name original documents. Bring the original.
+Can I use my driver's licence instead?
Savaya and Zumana list a valid driver's licence as an acceptable photo ID. It must be current and show your date of birth.
+Do I have to carry my passport in Indonesia?
The UK government's travel advice says you must always carry your passport or stay permit, such as a KITAS or KITAP. Check your own government's advice too.
+Does a guestlist ticket replace ID?
No. The digital ticket shows you registered; the age check still needs a valid photo ID, and registration does not guarantee complimentary entry.
+What if I lose my passport on a night out?
Contact your embassy or consulate. In an emergency, call 112.
