Vegetarian restaurants in Bali for a proper dinner out
Vegetarian and vegan dinner in Bali, checked on the restaurants' own pages: a vegetarian set menu at Sardine, plant-based and vegan dishes at Le Bleu, vegetarian plates at Akar.

For a vegetarian dinner out in Bali, book Sardine in Seminyak, which has a dedicated vegetarian set menu built on vegetables from its own farms, with a view over rice fields. For vegan food too, Le Bleu by K Club on Nusa Dua Beach serves curated vegetarian and vegan dishes. In Ubud, Akar marks its vegetarian plates on the menu. FirstBali asks for the table through the concierge.
How we chose
Bali has many plant-based cafés; this guide is about something else: a proper evening out, at a restaurant we work with, where a vegetarian guest is not left with a side salad. We only list a venue when its own website says it caters for vegetarians or vegans, and we say exactly what it says. Restaurants that did not state it on their pages are not here, even if they may well cook you something: ask, and we check for you.
A vegetarian set menu by the rice fields: Sardine, Seminyak
Sardine by K-Club, on Jalan Petitenget, is a seafood restaurant first, but its menu carries a Vegetarian Set Menu, which the restaurant describes as one that "celebrates farm-fresh produce and thoughtful flavors" and as "a refined plant-based dining option in Seminyak". The organic vegetables come from the restaurant's own farms.
The setting does the rest: an open-air bamboo building and a terrace overlooking rice paddies, lit up in the evening. It means a vegetarian and a seafood lover can sit at the same table, each with a menu designed for them, rather than one of them ordering around the edges. Sardine's site does not mention vegan dishes, so if you are vegan, tell us and we ask before you book.
The evening can run late: Les Toilettes, the K-Club Group's club, is at the same address. See the Sardine guide.
Vegetarian and vegan on the beach: Le Bleu, Nusa Dua
Le Bleu by K Club sits on Nusa Dua Beach, all Riviera blue and white, with sunbeds, cabanas, terraces and an indoor dining room. Its menu has a vegetarian section, introduced as "vibrant plant-based creations, where fresh, seasonal produce takes center stage", and the restaurant states that it offers "curated vegetarian and vegan dishes". It is the clearest vegan answer among our venues.
It works for lunch, with a view over its garden and paddies, as well as for a candlelit dinner by the beach, and the rest of the table can stay with the seafood the kitchen is known for. More in the Le Bleu guide and the Nusa Dua guide.
Vegetarian plates at a steakhouse: Akar, Ubud
It sounds unlikely, but Akar, K Club's steakhouse in the jungle north of Ubud, tags vegetarian dishes on its menu: grilled Camembert, grilled rice noodles, a sun-dried tomato sourdough and a homemade burrata with tomato. It is not a vegetarian restaurant; it is the answer when a group wants a steak dinner and one guest does not eat meat. On Friday and Saturday nights the dinner turns festive, with DJs, dancers and a laser show. See the Akar guide.
Vegetarian, vegan or something else
- Vegetarian: all three venues above say so on their own pages.
- Vegan: Le Bleu states vegan dishes. For Sardine and Akar, we ask the restaurant first.
- Allergies, gluten, no onion or garlic, no dairy: tell us when you book. Kitchens in Bali often adapt, but we only promise what the restaurant has confirmed.
Tips for ordering
- Ask whether stocks and sauces are vegetable-based; on seafood-led menus, fish sauce and shrimp paste are common.
- A set menu takes the guesswork out: at Sardine, the vegetarian set is designed as a whole meal.
- Book the dietary need with the table, not on arrival, so the kitchen can prepare.
Booking
Tell the concierge the date, the number of guests and each guest's diet. We ask the restaurant on your behalf and pass on what it can do and any terms it sets; the table is yours once the restaurant confirms.
