Canggu cocktail bars: Berawa, Batu Bolong and after

Cocktails in Canggu, by where you are and what comes next: The Shady Pig, Jade and Miss Fish in Berawa, the Beach House at Regent on Batu Bolong, then Desa Kitsuné's garden nights.

Updated October 26, 2026 · 4 min read

The cocktail bars FirstBali books in Canggu are mostly in Berawa. The Shady Pig is the speakeasy, behind an unmarked door with a password; Jade by Todd English has a cocktail bar with an Asian touch; Miss Fish has a Lounge and a long sake and Japanese whisky list. On Batu Bolong, the Beach House at Regent Bali Canggu pairs craft cocktails with the sea. Most of these evenings end somewhere else, often at Desa Kitsuné on a Tuesday or Friday. The concierge books the drink and what follows.

How a cocktail fits a Canggu night

In Canggu the cocktail is rarely the whole evening. Most of the addresses below are restaurants with a serious bar, where DJs arrive as the night goes on, so the drink, the dinner and the music happen in one room. The choice is less "which bar" than "which kind of evening": a hidden bar on its own, a drink by the sea, or a dinner that turns into a party. If it ends at a club, this page covers that too.

Berawa: the cocktail cluster

The speakeasy: The Shady Pig

The Shady Pig on Jalan Pantai Berawa is the original bar of The Shady Family, the group behind The Shady Fox, The Shady Flamingo and The Shady Bunny. Its theme is Birmingham bootleggers: an unmarked door, and a password to get in. The cocktails lean experimental, with distillation, barrel ageing and fermentation, from the Shelby to a barrel-aged Negroni. Small plates, pinchos and sandwiches come with them, and DJs take over later. It is the one address here that is a bar first. The door is explained in our Shady Pig guide.

The restaurant bars

  • Jade by Todd English: a Mediterranean restaurant and bar around a wood-fire grill, whose cocktail bar gives its drinks an Asian touch. Warm lighting, a daily DJ and weekly late-night events. See our Jade guide.
  • Miss Fish, on Jalan Raya Semat: a Japanese restaurant whose Lounge serves cocktails and shared plates, with more than forty sakes and Japanese whiskies behind the bar. DJs later in the evening; smart casual.
  • MîA, also on Jalan Raya Semat: a modern Asian restaurant and bar where carefully crafted drinks are made to match the food, under the open sky.
  • MOI, on Jalan Pantai Berawa: Mediterranean cooking with fire, cocktails built on sun-warmed botanicals, and an evening that turns into a party after sunset.
  • Riviera Bistro, on Jalan Pemelisan Agung: a wine bar first, with aperitifs at the bar; on Saturdays the evening becomes PRÏVE, with cocktails and DJs.

Expect an extensive wine list, aperitifs at the bar and candlelit tables; on Saturdays the evening turns into PRÏVE, with cocktails and DJs.

Batu Bolong: a drink by the sea

Regent Bali Canggu is IHG's beachfront resort on Batu Bolong. Its Beach House pairs the pool and the ocean breeze with craft cocktails and seafood, which makes it the calmer Canggu answer, and the one with the sea in front of you. Dinner can follow at the resort's restaurants, Sazón or CURE Bali; see our Regent guide.

Nearby on Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong, Zai Cafe is a Mediterranean and Middle Eastern restaurant rather than a bar, but on Fridays a DJ sets the mood.

Three evenings, start to finish

  1. Hidden bar, then dinner: The Shady Pig first, then a table at Jade or MOI in Berawa.
  2. Sea, then garden: the Beach House at Regent, then a Tuesday or Friday at Desa Kitsuné.
  3. Dinner that becomes the night: Miss Fish or MîA, staying on as the DJs take over.

After the cocktails: Desa Kitsuné

Desa Kitsuné is the Savaya Group's lifestyle village in Canggu, made with the French-Japanese brand Maison Kitsuné, with Café Kitsuné, the Ina Ré restaurant and a boutique in the grounds. Every Tuesday and Friday the Garden becomes the party, rain or shine: guest DJs on Tuesdays, Bali-based DJs on Fridays. It is 21+ with a valid photo ID, smart casual, and mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred.

Its guestlist is the venue's own: you register for the night on its page, linked from the events page, and receive a digital ticket by email. Joining is free; entry is complimentary before the cutoff shown on the night's page, which is earlier for men, and registering does not guarantee complimentary entry. A table is the only reserved space, at a minimum spend the venue sets per night. Dinner at Ina Ré first is covered in our Desa Kitsuné dinner guide.

Getting between them

Berawa and Batu Bolong are both Canggu, but the roads are narrow and busy in the evening. If the night has two or three stops, a driver who waits keeps the group together; Transport has the cars.
