Canggu date night: dinner for two and where to go after

A Canggu date night depends on the day: Desa Kitsuné's garden party on Tuesday and Friday, Giselle's Club 55 on Friday and Saturday, or a quiet resort dinner at Regent Bali Canggu.

In Canggu, the best date night depends on the day of the week. On Tuesdays and Fridays, dinner at Ina Ré then Desa Kitsuné's garden party share one address; on Fridays and Saturdays, Giselle's Club 55 takes over after dinner; on any night, Regent Bali Canggu offers a quieter resort dinner by the beach. The concierge can book the table, the party and the car together.

Choose the night first

The Canggu venues FirstBali books run their late nights on set days of the week. Picking the evening before the restaurant avoids a dinner that ends with nowhere to go, or a party you have to cross the island to reach.

Tuesday or Friday: Ina Ré, then the garden at Desa Kitsuné

Desa Kitsuné is a lifestyle village in the heart of Canggu, on Jalan Munduk Catu, by the Savaya Group with the French-Japanese brand Maison Kitsuné. Every Tuesday and Friday its Garden becomes the party, rain or shine: guest DJs on Tuesdays, Bali-based DJs on Fridays. Parties are 21+ with a valid photo ID, and smart casual.

Its restaurant, Ina Ré, is on the same grounds. Chilean executive chef Cristian Encina brings together Mediterranean flavours and Latin American street food: paellas to share, ceviches, tacos, empanadas and wood-fired meats. The space draws on Balinese arts and crafts, with handmade materials, weavings and traditional motifs. You walk from the table to the garden. Desa Kitsuné for couples covers the party itself; this guide is about the whole evening.

At the door, Desa Kitsuné says mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred. Its guestlist is the venue's own: each of you registers individually on the night's page, linked from the Guestlist button on the events calendar, and receives a digital ticket by email. Joining is free; entry is complimentary before the cutoff shown on the night's page, reduced after, and men have an earlier cutoff. Registration does not guarantee complimentary entry. Note that the pool on the grounds is decorative, not for swimming.

Friday or Saturday: Giselle and Club 55

Giselle is a Mediterranean restaurant on Jalan Tanah Barak, created by a group of friends who call it "a house for friends, strangers, and stories". The mood is the Riviera brought to Bali, across a dining room and a courtyard. Seafood leads: crudos, a seafood platter, sea bream sashimi and flambéed fish, alongside homemade pasta and plates for sharing. On Friday and Saturday nights, Club 55 takes over after dinner, so the second stop is the same room.

A Friday that starts earlier: Zai Cafe

On Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong, Zai Cafe serves modern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cooking from breakfast through dinner. In the evening the menu turns to dishes like octopus with harissa and orzo, or grilled prawns with a sweet passion fruit sauce, and on Fridays a DJ sets the mood. It makes an easy first stop before the Friday garden party at Desa Kitsuné.

Any night: a resort dinner at Regent Bali Canggu

For a quieter date, Regent Bali Canggu is IHG's beachfront resort on Batu Bolong. Two of its restaurants are led by Chef Andrew Walsh: Sazón, a Mediterranean neighbourhood hideaway, and CURE Bali, European cooking shaped by Asian flavours. The Beach House pairs its pool and ocean breeze with craft cocktails and seafood. It is the evening to choose when you want to talk rather than dance. See also Regent Bali Canggu.

Tables and terms

At Desa Kitsuné, a table is the only reserved space, and its minimum spend is set by the venue per night. Restaurants have their own terms for a booking. Either way, a booking is yours once the venue confirms it; any deposit follows the venue's terms and is not a confirmation.

The car

A date night is easier when neither of you drives. The concierge can book a driver who waits through both stops; see a driver for your night out.
