A Jimbaran date night begins at Rock Bar, AYANA Bali's cliffside bar, reached by inclinator, where the two of you watch the sun set over the sea with cocktails and tapas from Jimbaran Bay seafood. The only decision that matters is how the evening ends: a dinner table at Rock Bar after dark, a quiet dinner at Koral in Nusa Dua, or a night out at Savaya or Zumana. Agree on it before you book, because it shapes everything else.

Why a date starts here

Rock Bar is a sunset address first. It stretches along the rocks just above the ocean, the cocktails take their colours from the sea, and the DJs play on after dark, so the mood rises with the evening instead of stopping at nightfall. For a couple, it is a beginning that works whatever comes next.

Rock Bar is AYANA Bali's cliffside bar in Jimbaran, stretching some 270 metres along the rocks above the ocean, with 880 seats spread over 22 areas. Guests reach it by inclinator, watch the sun set over the sea, then stay as the DJs play on. The bar pours cocktails inspired by the colours of the sea alongside Mediterranean tapas built on Jimbaran Bay seafood. Non-resident visitors can reserve; the Round Deck is kept for villa guests and the Top Bar for hotel guests. Payment by card or QR only.

The seat for two

Visitors who are not staying at AYANA can reserve, according to the hotel: dinner tables, sofas, tapas tables, counter tops and day beds. For a date, the choice is simple. A counter top or a sofa suits a drink side by side facing the sea; a tapas table or a dinner table suits an evening where you stay and eat.

Two of AYANA's rules shape the request:

  • Hotel guests come first at sunset. The Round Deck is kept for villa guests, the Top Bar for hotel guests, and hotel guests have priority for sunset reservations. Ask early, and accept a dinner table after dark as the fallback.
  • A minimum spend applies to visitors. AYANA sets it; FirstBali passes on what the venue confirms.

Dressing for both of you

AYANA asks for smart attire: no tank tops, no surf shorts, no clothing with alcohol-brand logos, and no large bags. Payment is by card or QR only, so leave cash aside. If the night may end at a club, dress for that now: Savaya and Zumana both ask for smart casual, which also fits Rock Bar. One outfit, no change between stops.

Ending one: stay at Rock Bar

The simplest date never leaves the cliff: a sunset seat, then a dinner table as the DJs carry on. Tapas built on the bay's seafood are made for sharing, and there is no car to think about until the end.

Ending two: a quiet dinner in Nusa Dua

For a dinner that feels like an occasion, The Apurva Kempinski on the Nusa Dua cliffs has Koral, which the hotel presents as Bali's first aquarium restaurant: set and tasting menus beside the tanks, adults only at dinner, which suits a couple. The Apurva Kempinski Bali is a five-star resort on the cliffs of Nusa Dua, facing the Indian Ocean, and its dining spreads across several venues. Koral, which the hotel presents as Bali's first aquarium restaurant, serves set and tasting menus beside the tanks, adults only at dinner. Izakaya by OKU is a sister to OKU in Jakarta; Reef Beach Club sits on the sand beside a 42-metre infinity pool; Bai Yun serves hot pot and dim sum; L'Atelier by Cyril Kongo is a lounge with ocean views and Mediterranean tapas.

Ending three: dancing at Savaya or Zumana

If the date should end on a dance floor, both Savaya Group clubs in the south state that mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred at the door; a guestlist registration still does not guarantee complimentary entry, and management decides.

Savaya is the clifftop club in Pecatu, Uluwatu, with pools and The Cube framing its horizon, named the number-one club in Asia three years running and fifth in the world in DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs, per the venue. International headliners play at weekends. Strictly 21+ with a valid photo ID, cashless, bags searched.

Zumana is the beach club at Sunset Bay in Kuta, built around daybeds, poolside spaces and an open-air dance floor, with headliners on Wednesdays and Fridays and Ritual of the Sun on Saturdays. 21+, smart casual. A table is the only reserved space at either club, and its minimum spend is set by the venue per night.

Savaya for couples and Zumana for couples go further.
