Savaya and White Rock are both on the southern peninsula near Uluwatu, but one sits on the cliff and the other at its foot. Savaya is a clifftop club in Pecatu between jungle and limestone cliffs, with pools and The Cube framing the horizon; it is strictly 21+. White Rock Beach Club is on Melasti Beach in Ungasan, at the end of the cliff, with daybeds around a lagoon pool and a rock pool, a kids' pool, a spa and party suites. One is a night out for adults; the other a beach day that can include the whole family. FirstBali arranges both through the concierge.

The short answer

  • International headliners at the weekend: Savaya.
  • A day with children: White Rock, which has a kids' pool and a kids' menu. Savaya is strictly 21+.
  • A sunset set from a landmark: Savaya's Last Light on Mondays, played from The Cube.
  • A spa between swims: White Rock, which has one on site.
  • A private, air-conditioned space for a group: White Rock's enclosed party suites overlooking the pool and the ocean.

The setting

Savaya looks out over the Indian Ocean from the clifftop, with pools and The Cube, the landmark that frames its horizon. DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs named it the number-one club in Asia three years running, and fifth in the world in its latest edition, as Savaya itself states. More in the Savaya guide.

White Rock sits on the sand of Melasti Beach. Guests settle on daybeds, sofas or cabanas around the lagoon pool and the rock pool, there is a large covered restaurant serving local and international dishes, and resident DJs play every day.

The week at each

Savaya is open daily: Last Light every Monday, weekday nights, international headliners at weekends and "People of the Sun" on Sundays. Savaya at sunset or at night helps you choose when to arrive.

White Rock has resident DJs every day, and foam parties run at weekends.

Getting in

Savaya is strictly 21+ with a valid photo ID, passport or driver's licence, and smart casual. It is cashless, bags are searched, lockers are limited, and luggage and outside food or drink are not allowed. Many nights have a guestlist run by the venue: each guest registers on the night's page, joining is free, and entry is complimentary before the cutoff shown there, reduced after. Registration does not guarantee complimentary entry, and mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred. Some nights are ticketed only, and Savaya notes that its tickets are primarily for standing room. Re-entry is only with a table. Read Savaya's tickets, guestlist and tables.

White Rock welcomes families, as its kids' pool and kids' menu show. The concierge checks its terms for your date.

Reserved space

At Savaya, a table is the only reserved space. The venue sets its minimum spend per night, and its table map notes that it includes food and beverage credit; the flyer's Table button on the events page opens the night's map, and FirstBali books with the venue. The table is yours once the venue confirms it; any deposit follows the venue's terms and is not a confirmation.

At White Rock, you choose a daybed, a sofa, a cabana or one of the party suites. The venue confirms availability and its terms.

Groups and occasions

White Rock also hosts weddings and events, in its own description. For Savaya, the concierge asks the venue what it can host for your date; private events at Savaya covers what to send.

Can you do both?

On the same trip, easily; on the same day, think it through. White Rock is a day by the water, Savaya a night that asks for smart casual, ID, and no luggage or large bags. If you combine them, travel light and change before the evening.

Which one fits your plan

  • Savaya offers a clifftop club night for adults, from the Monday sunset at The Cube to weekend headliners.
  • White Rock offers a beach day at Melasti with lagoon and rock pools, a spa, a restaurant, party suites and room for children.

Tell the concierge the date, how many you are, and whether children are coming. The team checks what can be arranged and comes back with the venue's terms. An assistant answers at any hour, the team through the Bali day and evening.
