Ungasan is a village in South Kuta, in the far south of Bali near Uluwatu. It is known for Melasti Beach, a long stretch of white sand under limestone cliffs where White Rock Beach Club sits, and for the GWK Cultural Park and its giant statue on Jalan Raya Uluwatu. For the nights, Savaya and El Kabron are on the clifftops of Pecatu, in the same Uluwatu area.
Where Ungasan is
Ungasan lies in South Kuta (Kuta Selatan), in the far south of the island; Savaya is in Pecatu, also in the Uluwatu area. The GWK Cultural Park gives its address as Jalan Raya Uluwatu, Ungasan, Kuta Selatan, and White Rock Beach Club describes itself as being on Melasti Beach in Ungasan, near Uluwatu. In practice, guests often think of Ungasan as part of the wider Uluwatu area; the Uluwatu guide covers that area as a whole, and the Pecatu guide the neighbouring village.
Melasti Beach
Bali.com describes Melasti as a clean, long stretch of white-sand beach in Ungasan, framed by limestone cliffs. At low tide, it notes, you can walk out to see soft corals with starfish living among them, and several beach clubs with pools sit nearby. Sea conditions change with the tide and the season, so look at the water and follow local signs and lifeguards before swimming.
White Rock Beach Club
The beach club on Melasti is White Rock, at the end of the cliff. Guests settle on daybeds, sofas or cabanas around a lagoon pool and a rock pool; families have a kids' pool and a kids' menu. There is a spa, a large covered restaurant serving local and international dishes, and enclosed, air-conditioned party suites overlooking the pool and the ocean. Resident DJs play every day, foam parties run at weekends, and the club also hosts weddings and events. More in the White Rock Beach Club guide.
GWK Cultural Park
The Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is Ungasan's best-known landmark: the colossal Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue stands over the hills. The park's official site lists a guided tour to the top of the statue, daily cultural performances, the Jendela Bali restaurant, and event and meeting spaces. Tickets and the day's programme are on the park's own site; FirstBali can arrange a car with a driver for the visit.
Nights out near Ungasan
Ungasan's own evenings are about the beach club and the sunset; the island's best-known clifftop nights are in Pecatu, in the same Uluwatu area.
- Savaya, Pecatu. The clifftop club above the Indian Ocean, between jungle and limestone cliffs, with pools and The Cube on its horizon. Last Light, its sunset set from The Cube, runs every Monday, international headliners play at weekends, and People of the Sun takes Sundays. DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs has ranked it the number-one club in Asia, as Savaya states. Strictly 21+, smart casual.
- El Kabron, Pecatu. On the limestone cliffs, with the adults-only Hedonism Lounge around an infinity pool, the Sunset Theater at the cliff edge and a Mediterranean restaurant; its sunset parties bring DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet.

Savaya from Ungasan: the practical points
Savaya's guestlist is the venue's own: you register individually for each event on the night's page and receive a digital ticket by email. Entry is complimentary only before the cutoff shown there, registration does not guarantee entry, and mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred. Some nights are ticketed only, and Savaya's tickets are primarily for standing room. A table is the only reserved space and the only way to leave and re-enter; its minimum spend is set by the venue per night and includes food and beverage credit. Savaya is cashless, searches bags, has limited lockers and accepts no luggage. Bring a passport or driving licence. Getting to Savaya covers the way in.
