Engagement party in Bali: dinner, garden, club night

An engagement party in Bali works best as a private dinner for the close circle, then a night out for everyone. Where to host each part, with the venues' own terms, and how FirstBali asks for you.

An engagement party in Bali usually comes in two parts: a private dinner for the close circle, then a night out where everyone else joins. Book the dinner in a room that hosts private events — Ina Ré at Desa Kitsuné, Sardine in Seminyak, Le Bleu in Nusa Dua — and the night at one of the partner clubs, Savaya, Zumana or Desa Kitsuné, with a table that holds the group together.

Proposal first, party second

This guide starts after the yes. If the question has not been asked yet, where to propose in Bali covers the settings for that moment; if you only want a quiet dinner for two, see the anniversary guide. An engagement party is different: it has guests, often family flying in, and two moods to plan for — a dinner where people speak, and a party where they dance.

The dinner: a room for the close circle

Pick a restaurant whose own pages offer private events, so the evening is arranged by people used to it.

  • Ina Ré, the restaurant of Desa Kitsuné in Canggu, has private dining rooms for groups, which its own page calls "perfect for special occasions or intimate gatherings", with tailored menus. Paellas to share and wood-fired meats suit a long table.
  • Sardine, Seminyak: an open-air bamboo building over the rice paddies that hosts weddings and anniversaries as private events.
  • Le Bleu, Nusa Dua: its Intimate Package names engagements among the occasions it is made for, and the beach club takes exclusive private events.
  • MIA, Berawa, tailors menus to the group for private events.
Ina Ré

Ina Ré

Restaurants · Canggu

Ina Ré is the restaurant of Desa Kitsuné, the lifestyle village on Jalan Munduk Catu in Canggu. Chilean executive chef Cristian Encina brings together Mediterranean flavours and Latin American street food: paellas to share, ceviches, tacos, empanadas and wood-fired meats such as the Stockyard tomahawk. The space draws on Balinese arts and crafts, with handmade materials, weavings and traditional motifs, and includes private dining rooms for groups. Sunday brunch has its own menu, and so do Courtyard Saturdays.

Sardine

Sardine

Restaurants · Seminyak

Sardine by K-Club is a seafood restaurant on Jalan Petitenget in Seminyak, set in an open-air bamboo building that looks over a stretch of rice paddies, with a terrace for lunch or dinner. The kitchen cooks the daily catch (yellowfin tuna, scallops, snapper) in a modern Mediterranean style, with vegetables from its own farms and a vegetarian set menu. Evenings can run late: Les Toilettes, the hidden club on site, hosts DJs, and once a month The Gates of Bali brings fire dancers and aerial acts.

Le Bleu

Le Bleu

Beach clubs · Nusa Dua

Le Bleu by K Club is a beachfront restaurant and beach club on Nusa Dua Beach, in the ITDC resort area, run by the K-Club Group. The look is French Riviera by way of Bali, all blue and white, with sunbeds, cabanas, terraces and an indoor dining room. The kitchen leans on seafood, from lobster linguine to yellowfin tuna tataki, with vegetarian and vegan options. The weekly programme mixes yoga, cocktail workshops, beach games and festive Sunday gatherings with a DJ.

MiA

MiA

Restaurants · Berawa

MîA is a modern Asian restaurant and bar on Jalan Raya Semat in Tibubeneng, in the Berawa part of Canggu. The menu is built for sharing, pairing Asian heritage with contemporary technique: Wagyu gyoza with karashi, soft-shell crab with amazu ponzu, Chilean sea bass tempura and Thai green curry. Carefully crafted drinks are made to match the food, and the setting blends modern style with traditional touches under the open Bali sky. A table here is made for gathering friends.

For larger groups and how a set menu usually works, read the group dinner guide.

Hosting the whole party in one place

If you would rather keep everyone in one setting, Desa Kitsuné offers private events in two forms on its own site: the whole village — Café Kitsuné, Ina Ré, The Garden and the Maison Kitsuné boutique — or The Garden alone, with its bars, cabanas, bungalows and daybeds. The pool there is decorative, so plan a garden party, not a swim. Details and how the enquiry works are in the Desa Kitsuné private events guide. The concierge asks what the venue can do on your date; nothing is held until it confirms.

The night out: three partner clubs

After dinner, the group moves on. The three partner clubs are 21+ with a valid photo ID (passport or driver's licence), so check every guest's age before you plan.

  • Desa Kitsuné, Canggu: garden parties every Tuesday and Friday, rain or shine — the easiest follow-on from a dinner at Ina Ré, on the same grounds.
  • Savaya, on the clifftop in Pecatu, Uluwatu: named number one in Asia in DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs, with headliners at weekends and Last Light on Mondays, a sunset set from The Cube.
  • Zumana, at Sunset Bay in Kuta: a Savaya Group beach club with Ritual of the Sun on Saturdays and Zumana Sunday.

For a group, a table is the only reserved space. Its minimum spend is set by the venue for each night, and at Savaya and Zumana the table map says it includes food and beverage credit. At Savaya and Zumana, re-entry is only possible with a table. Registering on a guestlist is free, but it does not guarantee entry, and the venues say mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred. How tables are allocated is explained in the bottle service guide.

Two days instead of one

Families and friends rarely share the same idea of a party. A common shape is a dinner for everyone on the first evening, then a separate night out for those who want it — or a sunset afternoon on a day bed followed by the club. Dinner and a club night shows how to link the two in each area.

Details worth asking about

Tell the concierge what you have in mind — a cake, flowers on the table, a few words before dessert, a photographer — and we ask the venue what it allows. Each venue has its own rules, and nothing is promised until it says yes. If part of the evening is a surprise for the couple, say so when you write.

Getting the guests there

A group spread across villas and hotels needs one plan for transport. A Toyota Hiace Premio or a Toyota Alphard with driver can collect guests and wait through the evening; see vans with driver. A group villa keeps everyone under one roof for the weekend.

How FirstBali arranges it

Tell the concierge the date, the number of guests, the area and the mood. We ask each venue on your behalf; the room, the table or the villa is yours once the venue or the owner confirms it, and any minimum spend or deposit follows the venue's terms — a deposit is not a confirmation. An assistant answers at any hour, the team through the Bali day and evening.

Questions we get asked

+Where can I host an engagement party in Bali?

Restaurants that publish private events — Ina Ré at Desa Kitsuné, Sardine, Le Bleu, MIA — suit the dinner. Desa Kitsuné also offers the whole village or The Garden for private events.

+Can the whole group go to a club afterwards?

Only guests aged 21 or over, with a valid photo ID: Savaya, Zumana and Desa Kitsuné are all 21+. A table keeps the group together; entry is never guaranteed.

+Can I swim at Desa Kitsuné during a garden party?

No. The pool at Desa Kitsuné is decorative, so plan the party around the garden, the bars and the daybeds.

+How much does an engagement party cost in Bali?

It depends on the venue, the night and the group. Any minimum spend or deposit is set by the venue and shared with you before you decide.

+Can you arrange a cake, flowers or a photographer?

We pass the request to the venue and tell you what it allows. Nothing is promised until the venue says yes.

+When is the booking confirmed?

When the venue confirms it. A deposit, if the venue asks for one, follows its terms and is not a confirmation in itself.
