Mediterranean restaurants in Bali: Riviera to Aegean

Mediterranean dinner in Bali, by coast: Riviera seafood at Giselle, Aegean fire at MOI, Eastern Mediterranean sharing plates at BELLA and Zai Cafe, wood-fired Jade, and ocean tables in the south.

Updated October 21, 2026 · 4 min read

Most of Bali's Mediterranean restaurants are in Canggu and Berawa. For the French Riviera, book Giselle on Jalan Tanah Barak. For the Aegean, MOI on Jalan Pantai Berawa. For the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East, BELLA in Berawa or Zai Cafe in Batu Bolong. For a wood-fire grill, Jade by Todd English. For the sea in front of you, El Kabron in Uluwatu or Rock Bar in Jimbaran. FirstBali asks for the table through the concierge.

Pick a coast first

"Mediterranean" covers a lot of ground. In Bali it splits into three moods: the Riviera, with seafood, crudos and a long lunch feeling; the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean, with fire, dips and plates passed around the table; and the Italian side, with fresh pasta, which has its own guide. Decide which one you want and the choice narrows quickly.

The Riviera: Giselle and Le Bleu

Giselle calls itself a "Mediterranean House in the heart of Canggu", "where the Riviera finds a home". It was created by a group of friends from hospitality as "a house for friends, strangers, and stories", across a dining room and a courtyard. Seafood leads: crudos, a seafood platter, sea bream sashimi and flambéed fish, with homemade pasta and plates for sharing, built on local, responsibly sourced ingredients. On Friday and Saturday nights, Club 55 takes over after dinner. More in the Giselle guide.

Le Bleu by K Club, on Nusa Dua Beach, is the Riviera by way of Bali, all blue and white, with an indoor dining room and terraces on the sand. The kitchen leans on seafood, from lobster linguine to yellowfin tuna tataki.

The Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean: MOI, BELLA, Zai Cafe

MOI is inspired by the Aegean and by Bodrum, home of its sister address. The kitchen works with fire, for dinners meant to be lingered over, and the cocktails draw on sun-warmed botanicals. After sunset the mood shifts towards a party; Bazaar MOI is an Eastern Mediterranean dinner spectacle with dancers and costumes.

BELLA, run by The SEN Group, is contemporary Mediterranean and Middle Eastern. Executive chef Oğuz Karadoğan, who previously cooked in Istanbul, cooks a wood-fired menu for sharing: lamb meatballs in tomato sauce with Hokkaido bread, a seabass ceviche with kefir and gremolata, a whole roasted cauliflower with tahini. The room is built around an open kitchen, a long bar and a DJ booth. See the BELLA guide.

Zai Cafe, on Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong, is the daytime option: modern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern from breakfast to dinner, with flatbreads, a Greek salad with homemade feta, hummus, beetroot hummus, babaganoush and tzatziki, then octopus with harissa and orzo in the evening. More in the Zai Cafe guide.

Zai Cafe

Zai Cafe is a modern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern restaurant on Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong in Canggu, serving from breakfast through dinner. Mornings bring flatbreads, a Greek salad with homemade feta, bowls and dips such as hummus, beetroot hummus, babaganoush and tzatziki. In the evening the menu turns to dishes like octopus with harissa and orzo, or grilled prawns with a sweet passion fruit sauce. Ceremonial matcha goes into drinks and desserts, and on Fridays a DJ sets the mood.

Fire and sharing plates: Jade and Ina Ré

Jade by Todd English takes its culinary direction from the American chef known for Olives. Its own words: a "modern wood fire grilled food concept", with a menu "designed for sharing among friends" and a cocktail bar that adds "a touch of Asia". Warm lighting and earthy tones set the room, with a daily DJ.

Ina Ré, the restaurant of Desa Kitsuné, mixes Mediterranean flavours with Latin American street food under Chilean chef Cristian Encina: paellas to share, ceviches, empanadas and wood-fired meats. It has private dining rooms for groups. See the Ina Ré guide.

Mediterranean with the ocean in front

In the south, the sea is part of the menu. El Kabron's oceanfront restaurant on the Pecatu cliffs serves "fresh seafood, oysters on ice, steak and paella", and its Sunset Theater is set up for sunset dinners. At Rock Bar, AYANA's cliffside bar in Jimbaran, dinner follows the sunset with Mediterranean tapas built on the seafood of Jimbaran Bay. At Regent Bali Canggu, Sazón is a Mediterranean neighbourhood hideaway led by Chef Andrew Walsh. For more tables with a horizon, read dinner with a view in Bali.

It has three parts: the Hedonism Lounge, an adults-only infinity-pool area with daybeds and sofas; the Sunset Theater at the cliff edge, set up for sunset dinners; and a Mediterranean restaurant serving seafood, oysters, paella and steak. Its sunset parties bring DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet, with the White Sunset Party, the Afro House Sunset Party and pool parties among the weekly regulars.

The Beach House pairs its pool and ocean breeze with craft cocktails and seafood, and the resort is home to the first Regent Spa & Wellness.

Dinner that turns into a night

Several of these rooms change mood as the evening goes on: Club 55 at Giselle, the party after sunset at MOI, Taverna nights and Kitchen Party at BELLA, Jade's late-night events. If you want a quiet dinner, say so when you book and ask for an earlier sitting or a calmer corner; if you want the party, ask for a table near the bar.

Booking

Tell the concierge the date, the number of guests, the area you are staying in and the kind of evening you want. We ask the restaurant on your behalf, pass on any terms it sets, and the table is yours once the restaurant confirms.
