Kuta sunset: where to watch it and where to go after
Kuta faces west, so the sun sets over the sea. Watch it from the beach or from a daybed at Zumana at Sunset Bay, pick the right day, and plan the evening after with FirstBali.

Kuta's long sandy beach lies on the western side of Bali's southern neck — it is also known as Sunset Beach — so the sun goes down over the sea. You can watch it from the public sand, or from a reserved daybed at Zumana, the Savaya Group's beach club at Sunset Bay, where Saturday is Ritual of the Sun, the weekly sunset night. FirstBali books the daybed with Zumana and plans the evening after; nothing is confirmed until the venue confirms it.

Why the sunset is Kuta's moment
Kuta was one of the first towns on Bali to see substantial tourism, and its beach, known for its surf, has drawn people to the water's edge at the end of the day ever since. It is also the area closest to the airport, which makes a Kuta sunset the natural first or last evening of a trip: see your first night in Bali. The background of the area is in Kuta nightlife.
Two ways to watch it
On the beach
The public beach is open to everyone: sit on the sand, watch the surfers come in and the light go. It asks for no booking and no dress code. What it does not give you is a place that is yours, a drink brought to you, or anything to do once it is dark.
From a daybed at Zumana
Zumana sits on the beachfront at Sunset Bay, Kuta, designed by Rockwell Group around beachfront daybeds, poolside spaces, bars and an open-air dance floor, with ZENÍA, a 10-metre sculpture by Daniel Popper, at its centre. The venue describes the sunset as "the moment ZUMANA was built for". A daybed or sofa is the only reserved place: general admission seating is limited and first come, first served. The minimum spend is set by Zumana for each night and, on its maps, includes food and beverage credit. Where to sit inside the venue is in the Zumana sunset guide, and the booking steps in the Zumana daybed.
Which day for a Kuta sunset
- Saturday: Ritual of the Sun. Zumana's weekly sunset night, the one built around this hour: Ritual of the Sun.
- Sunday to Tuesday. The house's regular days, starting in the afternoon: the easy way to spend a day by the water and stay for the light. See Zumana on Sunday.
- Wednesday and Friday. Headliner nights, when the sunset is the prelude to a bigger night, with terms that change each time.
- Thursday. A rotating night, among them Made in Kuta, which brings together local talent, music, food and culture.
Each date's terms are on its page in the calendar above. Some nights are ticketed only, others have a guestlist: each person registers individually on the night's page and receives a digital ticket by email. Entry is complimentary before the cutoff shown on that page, reduced after, and registration does not guarantee entry.
After the sun goes down
- Stay at Zumana. The night carries on at the open-air dance floor, and its restaurant, Manuza, is on the same site, so dinner needs no car: see Manuza at Zumana. Re-entry is only possible with a table.
- Seminyak for dinner and a club. Sardine and Les Toilettes, both K-Club Group, share an address on Jalan Petitenget: see Seminyak nightlife.
- The Bukit for a later night. Rock Bar, AYANA's cliffside bar at Jimbaran, keeps playing after its own sunset, and Savaya, Zumana's sister venue on the Uluwatu clifftop, holds the island's big club nights.
Zumana

Guests reach it by inclinator, watch the sun set over the sea, then stay as the DJs play on. The bar pours cocktails inspired by the colours of the sea alongside Mediterranean tapas built on Jimbaran Bay seafood.
