Melodic house in Bali: Savaya's cliff and the open air
Melodic house in Bali means Savaya first: its listings speak of melodic house and techno, on a cliff above the ocean. Zumana and Desa Kitsuné follow the artist. Where to go, and how to read a line-up.

For melodic house in Bali, start with Savaya: the clifftop club in Uluwatu describes its guests in the language of melodic house and techno, and its open-air setting above the Indian Ocean is made for long, emotional builds. Zumana in Kuta and Desa Kitsuné in Canggu, from the same group, follow the artist of each night, so a melodic set there depends on the date. The calendar, not a genre tag, is where you find it.

Why melodic house suits Bali
Melodic house and its darker cousin, melodic techno, are built on long progressions, wide pads and slow releases rather than a hard punch. They come alive outdoors, with a horizon in front of you and the light changing: exactly what the island's big venues offer. In Bali, the question is less "which club plays it" than "which night, and at which hour of it".
For the broader map of genres, what music Bali clubs play goes venue by venue; for the harder end, see techno clubs in Bali.
Savaya: the reference
Savaya sits 100 metres above the Indian Ocean in Pecatu, between jungle and limestone cliffs, with pools and The Cube framing its horizon. DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs named it the number-one club in Asia three years running (2024–2026) and fifth in the world in 2026. Its own listings speak of melodic house and techno, alongside Afro house.
Three formats to know:
- Last Light, every Monday: a sunset set from The Cube, the gentlest way into the sound.
- People of the Sun, on Sundays: some are billed as a sunset set.
- Weekend headliners: international names, often on ticketed-only nights; Savaya says its tickets are primarily for standing room.
Savaya at sunset or at night helps you decide between the two moods, and Savaya headliner nights explains the big weekends.
Zumana and Desa Kitsuné: when the artist brings it
Zumana, Savaya Group's beach club at Sunset Bay in Kuta, sets its open-air dance floor beside beachfront daybeds and pools. Wednesdays and Fridays bring headliners and Saturday is Ritual of the Sun, the night built around the sky. A melodic headliner on the beach at dusk is a different experience from the cliff, and worth looking out for on the calendar.
Desa Kitsuné, in Canggu, turns its garden into the party every Tuesday and Friday, rain or shine: guest DJs on Tuesdays, Bali-based DJs on Fridays. Under the trees rather than facing the ocean, it is the more intimate way to hear a melodic set.
Zumana
Beach clubs · Kuta
Zumana is a beach club at Sunset Bay in Kuta, a Savaya Group property designed by Rockwell Group around beachfront daybeds, poolside spaces, bars and an open-air dance floor. Its centrepiece is ZENÍA, "The Eternal Host", a 10-metre sculpture by Daniel Popper made with Balinese artisans from Ubud, and its restaurant is Manuza. Open daily: Zumana Sunday, Monday and Tuesday every week, headliners on Wednesdays and Fridays, Ritual of the Sun on Saturdays. 21+, smart casual.
Desa Kitsuné
Clubs · Canggu
Desa Kitsuné is a lifestyle village in the heart of Canggu — desa means village — set in a 5,000 m² garden by the Savaya Group with the French-Japanese brand Maison Kitsuné. Café Kitsuné, the Ina Ré restaurant and a Maison Kitsuné boutique share the grounds, and every Tuesday and Friday the Garden becomes the party, rain or shine: guest DJs on Tuesdays, Bali-based DJs on Fridays. Parties are 21+, smart casual.
How to read a line-up for melodic house
- Open [the events calendar](/events) and the night's page: it names the artist or the concept.
- Listen to a recent set by that artist. It is the only reliable guide to the sound of the night.
- Mind the hour. The opening hours of a night tend to stay warmer; the peak goes deeper. Sunset formats such as Last Light are melodic by nature.
- Check the terms on the same page. Guestlist, tickets only, or both: they change night by night.
Where to stand
Melodic sets reward a good spot. On the dance floor you are in the middle of it, which is often the point. If you want a reserved place with the view, a table is the only option: the venue sets its minimum spend for each night (Savaya's and Zumana's maps say it includes food and beverage credit), and the table is yours once the venue confirms it. Re-entry at Savaya and Zumana is only with a table.
Before you go
- Age: 21+ at all three, with a valid photo ID (passport or driver's licence).
- Guestlist: free to join, one registration per person and per night on the night's page; never a guarantee of entry, and free entry runs until the cutoff shown there.
- At Savaya: cashless, bags searched, limited lockers, no luggage, no outside food or drink.
- Dress: smart casual; see the Bali club dress code.
- Getting there: a car with driver is the simple answer for the cliff.
