Desa Kitsuné vs White Rock: garden party or beach day?

Desa Kitsuné is a 21+ garden village in Canggu with parties on Tuesdays and Fridays; White Rock is a Melasti Beach club with lagoon pools, a spa and a kids' pool. What each offers.

Desa Kitsuné and White Rock answer two different plans in two different parts of the island. Desa Kitsuné is a lifestyle village in the heart of Canggu, created by the Savaya Group with the French-Japanese brand Maison Kitsuné, where the Garden becomes the party every Tuesday and Friday, rain or shine; parties are 21+. White Rock Beach Club is on Melasti Beach in Ungasan, near Uluwatu, with daybeds around a lagoon pool and a rock pool, a kids' pool, a spa and party suites. One is an evening in a garden; the other a day by the ocean. FirstBali arranges both through the concierge.

The short answer

  • A party night in Canggu on a Tuesday or a Friday: Desa Kitsuné.
  • A day in the water: White Rock, with its lagoon pool and rock pool.
  • Children coming along: White Rock, which has a kids' pool and a kids' menu. Desa Kitsuné's parties are 21+.
  • Dinner and the party on the same grounds: Desa Kitsuné, home to the Ina Ré restaurant.
  • A spa in the same place: White Rock.

The setting

Desa Kitsuné means "Kitsuné village": desa is the Indonesian word for village. It is a garden in Canggu shared by Café Kitsuné, the Ina Ré restaurant and a Maison Kitsuné boutique. The pool on the grounds is decorative: this is a garden, not a place to swim. More in the Desa Kitsuné guide.

White Rock sits on the sand of Melasti Beach, at the end of the cliff. Guests settle on daybeds, sofas or cabanas around the pools, a large covered restaurant serves local and international dishes, and enclosed, air-conditioned party suites overlook the pool and the ocean. More in the White Rock Beach Club guide.

The week at each

Desa Kitsuné has two regular party nights: guest DJs on Tuesdays and Bali-based DJs on Fridays, in the Garden, rain or shine. Read Tuesday or Friday at Desa Kitsuné to choose between them.

White Rock has resident DJs every day, and foam parties run at weekends.

Eating there

At Desa Kitsuné, Ina Ré is the village's restaurant: Chilean executive chef Cristian Encina brings together Mediterranean flavours and Latin American street food, from paellas to share to ceviches, tacos and wood-fired meats, with private dining rooms for groups. Café Kitsuné is on the same grounds. Dinner before Desa Kitsuné explains how to link the two.

At White Rock, the covered restaurant serves local and international dishes, and there is a kids' menu.

Getting in

Desa Kitsuné parties are 21+ with a valid photo ID, passport or driver's licence, and smart casual. Many nights have a guestlist run by the venue: each guest registers on the night's page and gets a digital ticket by email. Joining is free; entry is complimentary before the cutoff shown on that page, reduced after, and the cutoff is earlier for men. Registration does not guarantee complimentary entry, management decides, and mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred. Some nights are ticketed only. Read the Desa Kitsuné guestlist.

White Rock welcomes families, as its kids' pool and kids' menu show. The concierge checks its terms for your date.

Reserved space

At Desa Kitsuné, a table is the only reserved space on a party night. The venue sets its minimum spend per night; the flyer's Table button on the events page opens the night's table map, and FirstBali books with the venue. The table is yours once the venue confirms it; any deposit follows the venue's terms and is not a confirmation.

At White Rock, you choose a daybed, a sofa, a cabana or one of the party suites. The venue confirms availability and its terms.

Groups and occasions

White Rock also hosts weddings and events, in its own description, and its party suites give a group an enclosed space. At Desa Kitsuné, Ina Ré has private dining rooms for groups; for anything beyond a table, the concierge asks the venue what it can host for your date.

Can you do both?

On the same trip, yes. The two are in different parts of the island, so most people give each its own day: White Rock for a day by the water, Desa Kitsuné for a Tuesday or Friday evening that asks for smart casual and ID.

Which one fits your plan

  • Desa Kitsuné offers a Canggu garden evening for adults, with dinner at Ina Ré and the party in the Garden on Tuesdays and Fridays.
  • White Rock offers a Melasti beach day with lagoon and rock pools, a spa, a restaurant, party suites and room for children.

Tell the concierge the date, how many you are, and whether children are coming. The team checks what can be arranged and comes back with the venue's terms. An assistant answers at any hour, the team through the Bali day and evening.
