Going to Zumana alone: a solo day at Sunset Bay

You can go to Zumana on your own: each guest registers individually, and an afternoon by the sea is easy alone. The venue prefers couples and mixed groups, so nothing is guaranteed at the door.

Yes, you can go to Zumana on your own. It is a beach club on the beachfront at Sunset Bay in Kuta, each guest registers individually for a guestlist night, and a day that starts in the afternoon is easier to walk into alone than a club at midnight. The honest caveat: Zumana's terms say couples and mixed groups are strongly preferred, so a solo guest has no special claim, and management decides at the door.

The calendar above lists Zumana's coming days and nights, with a Guestlist button where a list is open and a Table button for a reserved space.

Why a beach club is easier alone

Zumana describes its day in three parts. "The shore wakes slowly… Come early. Settle in. Let the day unfold at its own pace." Then the sunset, "the moment ZUMANA was built for", then the night, when "the music rises". For someone on their own, that order helps: you arrive while it is calm, find your spot, and the crowd builds around you rather than in front of you.

The crowd is mixed in another way too. The guestlist form asks each guest whether they live in Bali full time, are here for a few months or are just visiting, so residents and travellers share the same beach, and a solo visitor is one of many people who came for the place itself.

The door, alone

Nothing in Zumana's terms refuses a guest for coming alone; nothing guarantees entry either. Registration on the guestlist does not guarantee complimentary entry, couples and mixed groups are strongly preferred, and management can refuse entry. What you control:

  • ID. "We strictly enforce a 21+ policy." Bring the original of a valid passport or driver's licence.
  • Dress. Smart casual, "upscale beach chic": no denim, beer-branded singlets, cut-off clothing, sportswear or flip-flops, and swimwear in the pools only. See the Zumana dress code.
  • Timing. Arrive well before the cutoff shown on the night's page.

If a guaranteed place matters, a table is the only reserved space. A daybed or a sofa for one is more space than you need, but it is the one way in that does not depend on the door. FirstBali books it with Zumana, and it is yours once the venue confirms it.

Which day to go alone

  • Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The regular days start in the afternoon and are the gentlest way in: Zumana on Sunday.
  • Saturday's Ritual of the Sun. The weekly sunset night, the most sociable moment of the week: Ritual of the Sun.
  • Wednesdays and Fridays. Built around a headliner. If you came to Bali for an artist, others will have too: Zumana headliner nights.
  • Made in Kuta. Once a month, a Thursday brings together local talent, music, food and culture: Zumana Made in Kuta.

On your own, inside

  • Pay by card. Zumana accepts card and QRIS only, so one card and a phone are enough.
  • Stay once you are in. Re-entry is not permitted without a table. Eat before, or at Manuza, the venue's restaurant, if you can book it for your date.
  • Mostly standing. General admission seating is limited and first come, first served.
  • Bags are searched, so travel light and keep your phone and drink with you.
  • ZENÍA. The sculpture by Daniel Popper at the heart of the venue is worth the walk around, alone or not: Zumana and ZENÍA.

Where FirstBali fits

Tell the concierge the date and where you are staying. FirstBali sends you that night's guestlist link, tells you when a date is ticketed only, asks Zumana for a daybed or a sofa if you want one and comes back with what the venue confirms (any deposit follows the venue's terms and is not a confirmation), and can add a car with a driver. An assistant answers at any hour, and the team works through the Bali day and evening.
