The best sunset bar in Bali depends on the rest of your evening: stay for the DJs, stay for dinner, or go on to dance. Rock Bar, El Kabron, Savaya, Zumana and Luna, by what follows.

For a sunset drink in Bali, pick the bar by what you want once the sun has gone. Rock Bar in Jimbaran is for staying on as the DJs play; El Kabron's Sunset Theater in Uluwatu is set up for dinner at the cliff edge; Savaya's Monday "Last Light" and Zumana at Sunset Bay turn the sunset into the start of a club night; Luna Beach Club west of Canggu follows it with fire and light shows. The view matters, but the rest of the evening decides.

Stay on for the DJs: Rock Bar, Jimbaran

Rock Bar is AYANA Bali's cliffside bar, reached by inclinator down the rocks above the ocean. Guests watch the sun set over the sea, then stay as the DJs play on, with cocktails inspired by the colours of the sea and Mediterranean tapas built on Jimbaran Bay seafood. Non-resident visitors can reserve; the Round Deck is kept for villa guests and the Top Bar for hotel guests. Payment is by card or QR only.

Rock Bar is AYANA Bali's cliffside bar in Jimbaran, stretching some 270 metres along the rocks above the ocean, with 880 seats spread over 22 areas. Guests reach it by inclinator, watch the sun set over the sea, then stay as the DJs play on. The bar pours cocktails inspired by the colours of the sea alongside Mediterranean tapas built on Jimbaran Bay seafood. Non-resident visitors can reserve; the Round Deck is kept for villa guests and the Top Bar for hotel guests. Payment by card or QR only.

Stay on for dinner: El Kabron, Uluwatu

El Kabron stands on the limestone cliffs of Pecatu, above the Indian Ocean. Its Sunset Theater, at the cliff edge, is set up for sunset dinners, beside a Mediterranean restaurant serving seafood, oysters, paella and steak, and the Hedonism Lounge, an adults-only infinity-pool area with daybeds and sofas. Its sunset parties bring DJs with live saxophone, violin and trumpet.

Go on to dance: Savaya and Zumana

Two partner venues make the sunset the opening of the night rather than its end.

  • Savaya, Monday "Last Light". A sunset set from The Cube, the landmark that frames Savaya's horizon above the Indian Ocean in Pecatu. Both are 21+ with a valid photo ID, a passport or a driver's licence, and smart casual. Savaya is cashless and accepts no luggage.

Savaya is a clifftop club in Pecatu, Uluwatu, set 100 metres above the Indian Ocean between jungle and limestone cliffs, with pools and The Cube, the landmark that frames its horizon. Zumana is a beach club at Sunset Bay in Kuta, a Savaya Group property designed by Rockwell Group around beachfront daybeds, poolside spaces, bars and an open-air dance floor. Its centrepiece is ZENÍA, "The Eternal Host", a 10-metre sculpture by Daniel Popper made with Balinese artisans from Ubud, and its restaurant is Manuza. Open daily: Zumana Sunday, Monday and Tuesday every week, headliners on Wednesdays and Fridays, Ritual of the Sun on Saturdays. 21+, smart casual.

Stay on for a show: Luna Beach Club, Tabanan

Luna sits on the cliffs of the Tabanan coast, inside Nuanu Creative City by Nyanyi Beach, west of Canggu. Its bamboo architecture by Inspiral Architects won a Silver award for sustainable and green architecture at the International Architecture & Design Awards in 2024. On the beach in Berawa

If you would rather a daybed on the sand than a cliff, Finns Beach Club and Atlas Beach Club stretch along the Berawa beachfront in Canggu, with DJs through the day. They are beach clubs more than bars, so plan the afternoon there and the sunset follows. Compare them in Atlas or Finns.

How to get the most from a sunset bar

  1. Decide what comes next first. Dinner, dancing or an early night changes which bar suits.
  2. Reserve where the venue allows it. At Rock Bar non-resident visitors can reserve; at Savaya and Zumana the table is the only reserved space, with a minimum spend set by the venue for the night, and it is yours once the venue confirms it. Any deposit follows the venue's terms and is not a confirmation.
  3. Check the night's page for the clubs. Some nights have a guestlist, registered individually on the night's page, with complimentary entry before the cutoff shown there; some are ticketed only. Registration does not guarantee complimentary entry.
  4. Plan the ride. The cliffs of the Bukit, Kuta and Tabanan are separate trips; a car with driver waits while you watch the sky and takes you on.
