Anniversary at Zumana: sunset, dinner and a daybed for two

How to celebrate an anniversary at Zumana, the beach club at Sunset Bay in Kuta: which day to choose, a daybed for the sunset, dinner at Manuza, and what FirstBali checks with the venue for you.

To celebrate an anniversary at Zumana, plan it as one long evening at one address: arrive in the afternoon, watch the sun go down over the sea from a daybed booked for the two of you, have dinner at Manuza, the venue's restaurant, and stay for the dance floor if you feel like it. FirstBali books the daybed with Zumana and asks the venue about dinner and any personal touch; nothing is promised until Zumana confirms it.

Why Zumana suits an anniversary

Zumana is the Savaya Group's beach club on the beachfront at Sunset Bay in Kuta, designed by Rockwell Group around beachfront daybeds, poolside spaces, bars and an open-air dance floor. The venue describes the sunset as "the moment ZUMANA was built for. The horizon catches fire, the tribe gathers by the shore, and something shifts in the air." For two people marking a date, that is the centre of the evening, and everything else can be arranged around it.

Zumana's terms state that mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred. It is a preference, not a pass: the door applies the same rules to everyone.

Choose the day

  • Saturday: Ritual of the Sun. The weekly sunset night, usually with a guest artist. The most obvious choice if the sunset is the reason: Zumana Ritual of the Sun.
  • Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. The house's own days — Zumana Sunday, Monday and Tuesday — steadier and usually quieter, for a couple who would rather talk than shout over a headliner. See Zumana on Sunday.
  • Wednesday or Friday. Headliner nights, for a couple who share the music: Zumana headliner nights.

If your anniversary falls on a fixed date, the calendar above shows what that day is. Check it early: terms change from night to night, and a night can be ticketed only.

A daybed for the two of you

On a guestlist or a ticket you are in general admission, where seating is limited and first come, first served. For an anniversary, a reserved place is what makes the evening yours: a beachfront daybed facing the sunset, a poolside spot or a sofa nearer the music. Each is booked as a table, with a minimum spend set by Zumana for that night; its table maps say it includes food and beverage credit.

Tell the concierge you are two and where you would like to be when the sun goes down. FirstBali asks Zumana what is open for your date and books it on your behalf; it is yours once Zumana confirms it, and any deposit follows the venue's terms rather than confirming anything. A table is also the only way to leave and come back during the evening. The details are in the Zumana daybed guide.

The shape of the evening

  1. The afternoon. In the venue's words: "Come early. Settle in. Let the day unfold at its own pace."
  2. The sunset, from your daybed, with the sea in front of you.
  3. Dinner at Manuza, Zumana's restaurant, so there is no move between dinner and the night. A dinner booking is separate from the daybed; ask the concierge to request both.
  4. The night, if you want it: "the music rises, the energy deepens."
  5. The way home, with a driver who comes back when you are ready: getting to Zumana.

A photograph by ZENÍA

At the heart of the venue stands ZENÍA, "The Eternal Host", a 10-metre sculpture by Daniel Popper made with Balinese artisans from Ubud. Further in, her mask opens onto a view framed by the ocean — the picture many couples take. Phones are fine; professional cameras, tripods and drones stay outside. Her story is in Zumana and ZENÍA.

Personal touches: ask, never assume

A cake at dinner, a bottle at the daybed, a note on the table: Zumana publishes no anniversary package, so FirstBali promises none. Say what you have in mind when you book; FirstBali checks with the venue what can be arranged for your date and passes on exactly what Zumana confirms. For a proposal instead, see proposing in Bali.

The practical part, for two

  • Both IDs. Zumana is 21+; bring the original of a passport or driver's licence each.
  • Both outfits. Smart casual, "upscale beach chic" on the event pages, with no flip-flops or sportswear; swimwear in the pools only. See the Zumana dress code.
  • One card. Card or QRIS inside, no cash.
  • The door decides. Registration does not guarantee complimentary entry, and management has the final word.

Where FirstBali fits

Tell the concierge the date, where you are staying and how you would like the evening to go. FirstBali books the daybed with Zumana, requests dinner at Manuza, asks about the personal touches and adds a car with a driver. An assistant answers at any hour, the team through the Bali day and evening.

For a different setting, Savaya's Last Light on Monday puts the sunset on the Uluwatu cliffs, and Desa Kitsuné in Canggu pairs dinner at Ina Ré with its Tuesday and Friday garden parties.
