Bali nightlife with friends: plan a night that works

Going out in Bali with friends? Agree on the night first, decide between individual guestlist sign-ups and one shared table, and travel together. A plan for Savaya, Zumana and Desa Kitsuné.

A night out in Bali with friends works best when three things are settled before anyone gets dressed: which night, how each person gets in, and how the group travels. Savaya on the Uluwatu clifftop, Zumana at Sunset Bay in Kuta and Desa Kitsuné in Canggu each run regular nights; each friend registers on a guestlist individually, or the group shares one table. The concierge can handle the table and the car.

Step one: agree on the night

Friends rarely want the same thing, so start with the options rather than the venue. The regular nights the three Savaya Group venues publish:

  • Savaya: Last Light every Monday, a sunset set from The Cube; international headliners at weekends; People of the Sun on Sundays.
  • Zumana: Ritual of the Sun on Saturdays, Zumana Sunday every week, and a weeknight rotation that includes Made in Kuta.
  • Desa Kitsuné: garden parties on Tuesdays and Fridays, rain or shine.

A useful split: the friends who want the big night choose the weekend at Savaya; those who want the sunset choose Zumana or Last Light; the ones who want dinner and a party at the same address choose Desa Kitsuné, with Ina Ré in the village. Compare them in Savaya, Zumana and Desa Kitsuné compared.

Step two: decide how each of you gets in

Guestlist: everyone signs up

At the three partner clubs, the guestlist is the venue's own, and each guest registers individually for each event on the night's page, linked from the flyer's Guestlist button on /events. Each person gets a digital ticket by email. One friend cannot sign up the others, so share the link in the group chat.

Joining is free; entry is complimentary before the cutoff shown on the night's page and reduced after — at Desa Kitsuné the cutoff is earlier for men. Registration does not guarantee complimentary entry: management decides. Some nights are ticketed only, with no list. See how to register on a Bali guestlist.

Tickets

On ticketed nights, buy only through the venue's own channel. At Savaya, tickets are primarily for standing room only. See guestlist or ticket.

One table for the group

A table is the only reserved space, and it keeps friends together in one place. The minimum spend is set by the venue for each night (at Savaya and Zumana it includes food and beverage credit), and at Savaya and Zumana a table also allows re-entry. FirstBali books it with the venue; it is the group's once the venue confirms it, and any deposit follows the venue's terms and is not a confirmation. See Bali table booking guide.

Step three: the door, honestly

All three venues state that mixed groups and couples are strongly preferred. A group of friends that is all men, or all women, should know that before choosing a night, and nothing — a list, a ticket, a table request — guarantees entry. The specific guides go further: group of guys, group of girls and mixed group.

Everyone also needs:

  • A valid photo ID: passport or driving licence, since all three are 21+. One friend without ID can stop the whole group at the door.
  • Smart casual: the dress code at all three. See Bali club dress code.
  • A way to pay: Savaya is cashless.
  • Light bags: Savaya searches bags, has limited lockers and allows no luggage.

Step four: travel together

Arriving in several cars means friends wait for each other at the entrance. A single vehicle with a driver keeps the group together on the way in and the way home. Our transport fleet includes vans and cars with drivers; see Bali van with driver and a driver for your night out. Tell the concierge the plan and we check what can be arranged.

If the group wants daytime first

Some friends prefer to start in the sun. Beach clubs in Berawa run all day: Finns Beach Club is adults-only with several party zones, pools and swim-up bars; Atlas Beach Club has beanbags on the sand and a vast pool. Zumana sits between the two moods with its daybeds and open-air dance floor. See Bali day party.

FINNS Beach Club stretches along the beachfront at Berawa, in Canggu, under a bamboo structure designed by PBM Architecture. It is adults-only and divided into several party zones, from FINNS Beach Party and FINNS Garden Party to FINNS Grey Goose Party and FINNS VIP Party, with pools, swim-up bars, private cabanas, dance floors and restaurants spread across the site. Resident DJs and live singers keep an all-day party going every day, and the club also hosts private events, birthdays and corporate groups.

Atlas Beach Club

Atlas Beach Club sits on Berawa Beach and bills itself as the biggest beach club in the world. Its signature beanbags sit right on the sand facing the sea, beside a vast pool and a pool bar where DJs play through the day. Daybeds and sofas are spread across distinct zones, from The Deck restaurant overlooking the beach to the Party Side in front of the stage. Daily shows draw on the four elements, and a beachfront padel court and a 100-metre flying fox complete the site.

Zumana

Zumana is a beach club at Sunset Bay in Kuta, a Savaya Group property designed by Rockwell Group around beachfront daybeds, poolside spaces, bars and an open-air dance floor. Its centrepiece is ZENÍA, "The Eternal Host", a 10-metre sculpture by Daniel Popper made with Balinese artisans from Ubud, and its restaurant is Manuza. Open daily: Zumana Sunday, Monday and Tuesday every week, headliners on Wednesdays and Fridays, Ritual of the Sun on Saturdays. 21+, smart casual.

A table is the only reserved space and keeps the group together; at Savaya and Zumana it also allows re-entry. Its minimum spend is set by the venue per night.
