What to pack for Bali nightlife: the suitcase list
Packing for nights out in Bali: the photo ID the doors ask for, smart casual for the clubs, shoes that pass every door, swimwear for the day, a small bag and a card for cashless venues.

To pack for Bali nightlife, start with what the doors check: a valid photo ID, since Savaya, Zumana and Desa Kitsuné are all 21+. Then smart casual for the night, closed shoes that are not flip-flops, swimwear for the beach clubs by day, a small bag and a card, because Savaya is cashless. This page is the suitcase list, before you fly; the night-of list is in our night-out checklist.
1. Your photo ID, the original
All three partner clubs, Savaya, Zumana and Desa Kitsuné, are 21+ and ask for a valid photo ID: a passport or a driving licence. Les Toilettes and MU:IN in Seminyak are 21+ too. Pack the document you will carry at night, not just the one you travel with; if your passport stays in the villa safe, a driving licence is the other ID the partner clubs name. Every person in the group needs their own. More in ID and passports at Bali clubs.
2. Smart casual, more than once
The partner clubs all ask for smart casual, and the published lists say what fails it:
- Savaya refuses work jeans or denim, beer-branded singlets, cut-off clothing and athletic sportswear.
- Zumana asks for "upscale beach chic" and refuses flip-flops, denim, beer-branded singlets, cut-off clothing and athletic sportswear.
- Desa Kitsuné refuses chains, baggy clothing, hard-sole shoes, boots, flip-flops, sportswear, torn or cut-off clothing and beer-branded singlets.
Our advice: if you plan several nights out, pack one smart casual outfit per night rather than one to repeat, and leave the denim and the sports kit for the day. The detail is in the men's and women's dress code guides.
3. One pair of shoes that passes every door
Footwear is where suitcases fail. Flip-flops are refused at Zumana, Desa Kitsuné and Les Toilettes, which also refuses sandals; Desa Kitsuné also refuses boots and hard-sole shoes. Savaya names no shoe, but its door applies smart casual on the night. Our advice: pack one pair of clean, closed, soft-soled shoes that fits all of those lists, plus whatever you wear on the beach. The full comparison is in shoes for Bali clubs.
4. Swimwear, for the day only
Beach clubs fill the afternoons, and their pools are where swimwear belongs: Savaya and Zumana keep it for the pools, and Les Toilettes does not allow it. If a beach club afternoon runs into a club night, our advice is a change of clothes in a small bag, or a driver who waits with it. One thing to know: the pool at Desa Kitsuné is decorative, not for swimming.

5. Something for a wet evening
Desa Kitsuné's Garden parties run every Tuesday and Friday "rain or shine", in the open air. Our advice: an outfit that still works on a damp evening, and shoes that cope with it. Desa Kitsuné rain or shine explains how the nights work.

6. A small bag, not a big one
Savaya searches bags, has limited lockers and takes no luggage; no outside food or drink goes in. Rock Bar in Jimbaran does not allow large bags. Our advice: a small bag that holds the ID, a phone and a card, and nothing you would mind showing at the door. If you are heading out straight from the airport or a check-out, plan where the suitcase goes first; bags and lockers at Bali clubs has the options.
7. A card that works abroad
Savaya is cashless, and Rock Bar takes card or QR only. Our advice: pack a card you can use abroad, and a second one in case. How each venue takes payment is in paying at Bali clubs.
What not to pack
- Clothes from the refused lists above: beer-branded singlets, cut-off or torn pieces, sportswear for the night.
- A second large bag for the evening.
- A plan that relies on cash at a cashless venue.
What the concierge sorts once you land
The suitcase is yours; the nights are ours to arrange. Tell the concierge your dates and group, and we ask the venues for tables, check what can be arranged for a driver through Transport, and point you to each night's page on the events page, where guestlist terms are shown night by night. Registering does not guarantee complimentary entry, and nothing is confirmed until the venue confirms it. An assistant answers at any hour, and the team through the Bali day and evening.
